The City of Rocklin is excited to announce a recruitment for Police Officer Trainees. The City will be hiring recruits to send to the Police Academy.

Applicants are advised to read the entire job posting and follow all directions to ensure a complete application. 

The successful candidates will be hired as a Police Officer Trainee and must successfully complete a twenty-four (24) week P.O.S.T. Basic Course Police Academy. The academy is not a live-in academy and the selected candidate must be able to commute to the academy location daily.

Upon satisfactory graduation from a P.O.S.T. Basic Course Police Academy, a Police Recruit meeting the requirements of the Police Officer classification shall be advanced to the career classification of Police Officer.

Candidates must pass a thorough background investigation to be considered for this position. Candidates must be 21 years of age at time of academy graduation. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law. Candidates must meet physical, psychological, and background standards established by POST as well as ongoing peace officer requirements pursuant to federal, state, and local legislation.

Examination Process:

1. Application Review

All applications submitted will be reviewed for minimum qualifications. Applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be moved forward to the next step of the examination process. Be sure to submit all required documents and complete the entire application. Resumes are not accepted as an application; you must complete the online application to be considered. 

2. PELLET-B Written Exam and Physical Agility Test

Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for the Police Officer Trainee will be invited to participate in the PELLET-B Written Exam and the Physical Agility Test. These exams are tentatively scheduled for June 29, 2024. 

PELLET-B

All candidates must either submit a PELLET-B score dated June of 2023 or later or must participate in the City of Rocklin's test administration. 

If you have already taken the PELLET-B within the past year, you may submit your PELLET-B score with your application. 

Physical Agility Test
 

The City of Rocklin does not accept physical agility scores from other agencies. You must participate in and pass our agility test to advance in the selection process. The Physical Agility Test includes a 99 yard obstacle course; a fence climb - both a six (6) foot solid fence and six (6) foot chain link fence will be assessed, a body drag of a 165lb dummy approximately 32 feet, and a 500 yard run. 

3. Structured Oral Examination

The top candidates that successfully pass both the written and physical ability examinations may be invited to participate in an oral panel interview. 

DEFINITION
Under immediate supervision, actively participates in the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) prescribed police training academy; performs all related learning and testing activities in preparation for the Police Officer classification; and performs related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives immediate supervision from assigned supervisory or management personnel. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This is the non-sworn, entry-level classification in the Police Officer class series responsible for learning and becoming proficient in the understanding of law enforcement tasks, policies, procedures, and standards. Upon successful completion of the police academy training program, incumbents may be appointed to the sworn classification of Police Officer.

This class is distinguished from the Police Officer classification in that the latter is the sworn, journey-level class in the series that has responsibility for preserving public peace, protection of life and property, prevention of crime; and enforcement of all laws.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
 

• Attends the police academy and actively participates in all studies, assignments, and tasks.
• Completes all required assignments, tests, and follows all instructions relative to the academy curriculum and behavior.
• Develops proficiency in criminal law, arrest and control techniques, use of firearms report writing, vehicle operation, first aid and CPR, narcotics identification, crowd control, court room demeanor, public relations, patrol procedures, physical conditioning and training, and any other subjects included in the academy.
• May perform other administrative assignments.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:

• Principles and techniques for working with groups and fostering effective team interaction to ensure teamwork is conducted smoothly.
• The structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
• Modern equipment and communication tools used for business functions and program, project, and task coordination.
• Computers and software programs (e.g., Microsoft software packages) to conduct, compile, and/or generate documentation.

• Comprehend, retain, interpret, and apply information learned in a classroom setting.
• Read and understand laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare clear reports and other written materials.
• Recognize dangerous situations and make sound, independent decisions.
• Independently organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments.
• Effectively use computer systems, software applications, and modern business equipment to perform a variety of work tasks.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, using appropriate English grammar and syntax.

• Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver License and a satisfactory driving record is required. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Supplemental Information

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must possess mobility to work in the field; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform heavy to very heavy physical work while wearing personal protective equipment; the ability to operate a motor vehicle to respond to calls for emergency service; vision to read printed material, view gauges, and view a computer screen; hearing to distinguish various sounds and radio communications; speech to communicate in person, over the telephone or radio, and project voice when necessary; strength, stamina, and mobility to traverse uneven terrain, including climbing and descending ladders, stairs, and other temporary or construction access points; finger dexterity to operate standard office equipment and access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator; and the ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull materials, objects, and individuals more than 100 pounds to perform the required job functions. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Employees primarily work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees also work in the field and frequently may be exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, vibrations, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, and hazardous chemical substances and fumes. Employees may interact with upset individuals in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures. The duties of this class are performed in an environment with exposure to emergency situations, mentally ill individuals, and persons potentially infected with communicable diseases.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be 21 years of age at time of academy graduation. Must be a United States citizen or have the current legal right work in the United States. Incumbents must pass a thorough background investigation.

All City of Rocklin employees are designated as Emergency Service Workers during a proclaimed emergency and may be required to perform certain emergency services at the direction of the department and/or City.

The Superior Court of California, County of Alameda is accepting applications for the position of Courtroom Clerk I. Under general supervision, the Courtroom Clerk I records and prepares minutes of all types of court proceedings; resolves workflow and other technical and procedural problems within the courtroom; enters and retrieves information from automated and manual record keeping systems; and performs other related duties as assigned.

This is the trainee and entry-level class in the Courtroom Clerk series. The Courtroom Clerk I receives formalized and on-the-job training in the techniques and procedures of courtroom work. Progression to Courtroom Clerk II requires demonstration of proficiency in functioning independently in a variety of courtroom settings and in performing the full range of duties expected of a Courtroom Clerk.

A new eligibility list will be established to fill Courtroom Clerk I vacancies at various court locations. Courtroom Clerks may be assigned or reassigned to various locations within the County and work between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., as determined by the business needs of the Court.

Example of Duties
NOTE: The following are duties performed by employees in this classification; however, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in this classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed.

1. Accurately records official minutes of court proceedings in a timely manner; prepares minutes, commitments, orders, judgments, abstracts, rulings and notices; and records appearances of court appointed counsel, medical examiners and expert witnesses.
2. Oversees courtroom operations to ensure that appropriate personnel and parties are present and that the courtroom is ready for business; and calls the courtroom to order as needed.
3. Impanels jury; calls roll; records challenges and proceedings during jury selection; documents jury services; ensures that attorneys have paid jury and court reporter fees; announces charges and jury verdicts; polls jury; and takes charge of the jury in the absence of a bailiff or court attendant; swears witnesses; and administers oaths.
4. Receives, records, marks, secures and maintains control of evidence, including weapons, drugs, hazardous material and other valuable items during court proceedings.
5. Submits requests for interpreters and court reporters; and verifies their appearances and payment vouchers.
6. Provides notice of court action, including issuing notices, rulings, orders and judgments as directed by judicial officer; prepares written correspondence and provides other assistance to judicial officer as needed; assists attorneys, court staff and the public in person and/or by phone and email, including setting hearings as needed; and processes documents.
7. Distributes and posts court calendars; gathers and prepares all files and data pertinent to cases on calendar for presentation to court at proper time; maintains appropriate tickler files; sorts, copies, files and retrieves documents from case files; and images documents as needed when court is not in session.
8. Maintains and coordinates calendars; consults with attorneys, judge and others regarding calendar continuances for pretrial motions, hearings, trials and other calendar matters.
9. Participates in training to ensure competency in providing services in all case types; and assists in cross-training co-workers as needed.
10. Provides coverage for courtroom clerks in departments and locations other than primary assigned as needed.
11. Assists in the Clerk's Offices as needed when court is not in session.
12. Operates electronic equipment such as communication, recording and duplicating devices when required.
13. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Option I

The equivalent to two years of full-time experience as a Legal Processing Assistant with the Superior Court of California, County of Alameda.

or Option II

Possession of an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree or equivalent to two years of college coursework with 60 semester units or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university.

And

The equivalent to two years of full-time increasingly responsible clerical experience in a banking, court, education, health care, law enforcement, legal, probation or social services environment.

Additional qualifying work experience as described above may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. One year (2080 hours) of additional qualifying work experience will be considered equivalent to 30 semester units/45 quarter units.

Ability to record minutes of court proceedings; write legibly and speak understandably; listen carefully to note pertinent information for court records; administer oaths and affirmations; understand, explain and apply specific statutes, codes, laws, regulations and procedures; type at a speed of 35 net words per minute from a clear copy; remain calm in a highly demanding environment; organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks; maintain flexibility; establish and maintain working relationships with the public, attorneys, staff and others; communicate in a tactful and professional manner; locate, identify and correct technical inaccuracies; enter data into a computer; work independently with minimal supervision; meet deadlines and complete tasks in a timely manner; calculated fees and fines; and maintain confidentiality.

This position includes a one-year probationary period. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of fingerprint check and the provision of appropriately identifying documents to certify eligibility to work in the United States.

HOURS, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
This position will work approximately 12-20 hours per week.  The candidate will have hands-on learning and work experience at San Rafael City Hall and outreach in the community.

This is a temporary position and hours worked may not exceed 1,000 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 thru June 30).

In accordance with the salary resolution, this position receives no benefits with the exception of Paid Sick Leave and a retirement plan.

The mission of the Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department (PRNS ) is to cultivate healthy communities through quality programs and dynamic public spaces. The Planning Division implements policies and plans that determine where and how the City will grow and how that growth will be balanced with the availability of infrastructure and services.

PBCE internship program is designed to offer professional learning opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in the urban planning field. Interns may be assigned to specific projects in the sub-disciplines of urban village planning, development review, zoning, urban design, transportation, economic development, housing, sustainability, historic preservation, Geographic Information Systems, and data analytics. Finance Department - The Finance Department has over 100 employees who are dedicated to serve the needs of our customers throughout the City of San Jose. Our mission is to manage, protect, and report on the City of San Jose's financial resources to enhance the City's financial condition for our residents, businesses, and investors. Our services are provided to the organization and community through four separate divisions which include Treasury, Revenue Management, Accounting, and Purchasing. The range of services includes debt management, investments/cash management, payment processing, billing, accounts receivable, delinquent tax/revenue collections, payroll, accounts payable, financial reporting, risk management, and procurement services.

The Housing Department's mission is to strengthen and revitalize our community through housing and neighborhood investment. Since the Housing Department was established in 1987, the City has been a leader in affordable housing , creating more than 21,000 new housing opportunities for San José residents.
A major function of the Housing Department is its work as a funder. The Department utilizes numerous financing vehicles to bring new affordable housing to fruition and rehabilitate older affordable housing. The Department also funds grants for nonprofits to develop and provide social services, homeless response programs, and community infrastructure. Additional grants support Fair Housing policies, place-based neighborhood efforts, and meal programs for low-income seniors.

The City of Belmont Police Department is looking for individuals interested in supporting the City's public safety initiatives as a Reserve Police Officer. 

Reserve peace officers are required by Commission Regulations 1950-1955 to meet the same selection standards (e.g. personal history investigation and medical and psychological screening) as full-time regular officers. Commission Regulation 1007(a) outlines the minimum training requirements for reserve peace officers.

Under the direction of the Director of Public Works or their designee, the Management Analyst I performs a variety of journey-level, professional and technical administrative duties in support of Public Works. Work assigned may be in a specific program area and/or to perform administrative duties in support of a division of Public Works or the department as a whole, including research and analysis. The incumbent plans, manages, implements, and evaluates assigned programs, systems, procedures and operations; and coordinates assignments with other departments and outside agencies. The Management Analyst I plays a vital role in supporting the efficient operation of the Public Works department and will be responsible for:

• Asset Management and Tracking: Facilitating the acceptance of new streets and utilities into the City’s inventory and maintaining meticulous records of maintenance activities through ArcGIS. 

• Optimizing Fleet Operations: Ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and requirements such as annual use reporting, emissions, registration, vehicle/fuel procurement and inventory systems. 

• Public Communications, Marketing, and Stakeholder Outreach: Assisting in the development and execution of public communication strategies, marketing campaigns, and stakeholder outreach initiatives to enhance community engagement and awareness of Public Works programs and projects.

• Department and Division Budgeting: Collaborating with departmental stakeholders to assist in budget preparation, tracking, forecasting, and contributing to the development and publication of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) bi-annually.

• Sanitary Sewer System Program Management: Supporting the management and implementation of the Sanitary Sewer System program by overseeing tasks such as managing and updating sewer lateral ordinances, updating sewer rates, calculating and tracking Equivalent Dwelling Units (EDUs), and updating the Sanitary System Management Plan and annual reporting Plan in compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Personnel Functions: Acting as a liaison to Human Resources and assisting in various personnel functions including recruiting, onboarding, training coordination, tracking, and calendar updates as necessary to ensure timely personnel management. 

• Contractor and Consultant Procurement: Supporting the procurement process for contractors and consultants, including contract administration and tracking of services rendered.

• Street, Tree and Neighborhood Assessment Districts: Managing Special District programs, including but not limited to, development of assessments, regular rate review and updates, stakeholder outreach, coordination and recommending required council action. 

Examples of Essential Duties (include but are not limited to):

• Support the assigned Department Head or manager in achieving division/department-wide goals and initiatives with analysis, management, and program development.
• Carry out special projects and assignments related to the overall objectives of the division or department. Examples of projects and assignments include but are not limited to: recruitment and training, grant-writing, research, marketing, public-private partnership opportunities, and others.
• Promote programs and stake; create marketing materials and newsletters and communicate with the public. 
• Perform research, conduct surveys, and provide statistical analysis and evaluation as assigned.
• Analyze federal and state laws and regulations as they relate to assigned programs and ensure appropriate compliance measures are included in policies and training.
• May be assigned to provide administrative support to a City board, commission, or committee which includes: preparing and distributing agendas, taking minutes, acting as a liaison.
• Coordinate and participate in training of personnel.
• Prepare comprehensive written reports regarding program activities.
• Regularly interact with other city staff, city council, community representatives and citizens regarding programs.
• Answer questions and provide information to the public, outside agencies, and City staff.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, and the public using principles of good customer service.

The City of Sausalito Police Department is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Police Community Service and Evidence Technician. This vital role supports our mission to maintain public safety and maintaining evidence, as well as enforcement of parking rules and regulations

This is a journey-level non-sworn classification in the Police Department that performs the full range of duties related property and evidence as well as assists the patrol officers with minor evidence collection, reporting writing and responding to related calls for service as needed to effectively provide police services. Incumbents are expected to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative.

The City of Patterson is currently recruiting to fill one (1) vacancy for a part-time Facility Custodian with the Recreation & Community Services Department and to establish an Eligibility List.

Duties include, but are not limited to: under general supervision, performs routine custodial and cleaning duties in municipal buildings and adjacent grounds; performs related work as assigned.

This is a part time position with hours up to 19 hours per week.  Must be available to work nights and weekends with varying shifts and schedules.
