The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is the county’s largest provider of affordable housing, helping make rental housing safe and affordable for approximately 20,000 low-income households. 

How You Will Make an Impact:

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is looking for a skilled Accountant II to perform a range of complex and varied technical and professional accounting tasks. Key duties include auditing, analyzing, and verifying financial records and reports, preparing financial and statistical reports, assisting with budget preparation, and reconciling general ledger accounts. This role also involves preparing year-end audit reports and schedules, managing full-cycle Accounts Payable (A/P) functions, and coordinating Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) disbursements. The Accountant II acts as a liaison for disbursement-related activities with agency staff, vendors, contractors, and external partners while also providing backup support for payroll operations. Additionally, the role includes conducting financial analysis, developing internal controls, and interpreting Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines.

About This Position

The Associate Management Analyst (AMA) will assist in the oversight of DEM program budgets, ensuring financial efficiency and policy compliance, with responsibilities including revenue projections, cash flow analyses, cost containment, grant disbursement, and managing annual and mid-cycle budgets. This role includes preparing budget estimates, evaluating revenue and expenditure budgets, resolving cross-departmental fiscal issues, reviewing budget submittals for accuracy, and assisting with funding challenges.

Initially under close supervision, incumbents with basic professional administrative education and/or experience perform analytical and technical work within an assigned division/department. At this level, the impact of the decisions is moderate, and the work is typically one of interpreting, explaining, or gathering information.

Additionally, the AMA will plan and administer DEM programs, conduct analytical studies, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The selected candidate will track and monitor the adopted budget and prepare periodic budget reviews for submission to County departments, administration, and boards and commissions, such as the Emergency Services Council (ESC).

Summary
Under general supervision, assists in organizing, leading and conducting recreational programs and provides highly responsible and technical professional staff assistance in developing and conducting specialized recreational programs; and performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plans, schedules, assigns, supervises and participates in a recreation unit of the District typically consisting of part-time employees; organizes and conducts programs in program areas such as fine and performing arts, sports, outdoor activities, therapeutics and inclusion; interprets and communicates District policies to staff and ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and District safety regulations; interviews and participates in selecting new staff; establishes performance requirements; regularly monitors, evaluates and addresses performance.
• Contributes to the development of and monitors performance against the program budget; approves purchases and other expenditures in accordance with District policies and procedures.
• Identi­fies, contacts, selects and prepares documents for contract instructors; provides first-level approval and processes contract invoices.

Qualifications

Education/Experience: A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: a bachelor’s degree with emphasis in recreation or a closely related field; and two years of group recreational activity leadership experience including supervisory, public relations or marketing skills; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

As assigned to Therapeutic Recreation Unit, preferred degree in Therapeutic Recreation and/or two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabili­ties, prefer­ably with ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis); and the ability to learn/imple­ment applicable laws and inclusion methods and practices. Knowledge of principles and techniques pertaining to the specialized program activities and program marketing and evaluation methods; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents in area of expertise, technical proce­dures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence and proce­dure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form. Ability to present information and respond to questions. Ability to speak Spanish is desirable.

Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages and costs. Ability to determine cost of contractors and provide budget input.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written or oral form. Ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgment.

Certificates and Licenses: 

• First Aid & CPR/AED within 90 days of employment with ability to maintain certifications thereafter as a condition of employment.

• Therapeutics program requires a California Commercial Class C Driver License within six months of employment.

The Senior Plan Check Engineer is responsible for reviewing complex construction projects including life safety, building code, and structural perspective, ensuring compliance with city, state, and federal regulations under the general supervision of the Assistant Chief Building Official (ACBO). The Plans Examiner II is the journey-level class in the Plans Examiner series. The classification is distinguished from the Senior Building Plans Examiner by the assignment and performance of a broad range of plan review duties, the level of independence to operate and level of supervision received.

Senior Plans Examiner:

The Senior Plans Examiner is the advanced, journey-level class in the Plans Examiner series. This classification is distinguished from the level II by the ability to perform the full range of plan review duties, the level of independence to operate and make sound decisions with minimal supervision, and the authority to oversee plan review activities and approve compliant building plans.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Plans Examiner I:

Receives immediate supervision from the Building Official and may receive technical and functional supervision from the Senior Plans Examiner.

Plans Examiner II:

Receives general supervision from the Building Official and may receive technical and functional supervision from the Senior Plans Examiner.

Senior Plans Examiner:

Receives minimal supervision from the Building Official. May exercise technical and functional supervision over assigned staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Examines construction plans and related documents for proposed commercial, industrial and residential structures for compliance with codes and ordinances including structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and energy calculations, safety and health features, use of material, placements in the property, and setbacks.

• Identifies and makes recommendations for corrections to inadequate plans in order to meet required codes.

• Responds to routine building plan issues and complaints to determine compliance with codes and standards.

• Determine plan examination, permit and other fees and valuation on submitted plans.

• Assists with the resolution of routine problems of proposed projects.

• Coordinates with other departments on project requirements.

• May perform field investigations of structural problems, covering failures, instability, proper installation of unusual designs, materials or equipment, and other unsafe conditions; prepares reports and make recommendations on solutions.

• Explains disapprovals or modification recommendations to applicants for permits.

• Assists building permit applicants in completing applications.

• Assists with developing informational literature related to plan check requirements and processing for public distribution.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position requires acute hearing and both near and far vision while performing work including customer interactions, reading and inspecting plans, electronic or physical documents, field work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, drag, carry and push documents, equipment and supplies weighing 50 pounds or more is required. Additionally, the incumbent in this position periodically works in all weather conditions, including wet, hot and cold. Sausalito Parks and Recreation is Seeking Vibrant Skilled Recreation Leaders

This recruitment is for Summer and Fall Events and Activities such as Bocce and Volleyball Referee, Chili Cook-off, Toast to Sausalito, and other fun classes, activities, and events

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00/ Hr

The City of Sausalito is recruiting for part-time temporary help for the summer and fall seasonal recreation activities and City-wide events.  The first of these is the Bocce League referee.

Bocce Referee
As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Bocce Referee, you are responsible for set-up, management, and cleanup of scheduled Bocce matches. You are the enforcer of rules, an impartial judge, and an advocate for fun and fair play. The ideal candidate will maintain a positive attitude and provide a friendly environment when communicating with teams and keeping score. This position reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor.   The ideal candidate must meet all minimum requirements as listed below and be confident and capable of dealing with conflict and intense games.  

Event Staff

As a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Event Staff member, you are responsible for actively participating in set-up, cleanup, and management of your assigned event.  You must arrive on time and remain until the event leader release you after the event.   Event staff may set up chairs, tables, stages, corridors, and barriers.  You may be asked to perform traffic control or direct drivers to parking.   The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, smile often, meet all of the minimum requirements below, remain calm under pressure and in the face of adversity, be cheerful, and love the diversity of people. 

The minimum requirements for the position are:

• Reliable transportation to and from games or events
• Ability and commitment to arrive on time and remain until duties are completed and you are released
• Confidence and capability to manage conflict with grace and calm
• Commitment to long hours, days, evenings, or on weekends depending on the assigned event schedule
• Must be 14 years of age or older and must obtain a WORK PERMIT if under 18
• Able to work independently
• Excellent people skills
• Strong ability to follow directions
• Ability to lift and carry 25lbs
