Description

LARPD is seeking a summer intern to support the Summer Youth Volunteer Program.  Applicants should have the equivalent of one year of college credits completed toward a degree.  Candidates interested in learning about recreation, volunteer management, and community services will be given preference.  Interested candidates should complete an application online. The intern will be responsible for key deliverables while learning about special districts and the Livermore community.

Community Outreach: Summer Youth Volunteers Project Plan 

The Community Outreach team is seeking a summer intern for a 10–12-week assignment.  The goal of the internship is to gain valuable experience managing high school aged volunteers that will support a variety of summer camps and programs throughout the district.  

 

Key duties 

  • Be primary point of contact for Summer Youth Volunteers. 

  • Assist with volunteer orientation and ongoing training sessions throughout the summer. 

  • Oversee volunteer schedule. 

  • Track volunteer hours logging. 

  • Create program completion documents. 

  • Assist with planning end of summer recognition event. 

 

Key deliverables will be: 

  • Maintain volunteer hour tracking and create end of summer recap report. 

  • Complete summer training and check-in reports. 

  • Create and distribute volunteer completion certification with hours totals for all summer volunteers. 

  • Report any concerns from staff and volunteers or development opportunities for volunteers through regular check-ins. 

 

What learning will occur for the intern? 

  • Experience managing volunteers. 

  • Learn how summer programs work/run in a special district.  

  • Gain familiarity with volunteer management software. 

  • Graphic design creating infographics and end-of-summer reports. 

  • Communication opportunities both with program staff and volunteers. 

 

Timing 

June-August 9th.  Interns may start and end later but need to be present for the core Sessions slated for the entire month of June, July and through August 9th.  

 

Work hours will be Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, 40 hours per week during the 12 weeks of employment.  The pay rate will be $20 per hour.  All interns will be required to successfully complete a Department of Justice fingerprint clearance and undergo a TB test as a condition of employment.
