Los Altos Hills County Fire District,(LAHCFD or District,) founded in 1939, is a dependent fire district of the County of Santa Clara. The District is composed of the Town of Los Altos Hills and several unincorporated areas generally referred to as Loyola, Los Trancos and San Antonio Hills. The District is a special fire district and comprises an area of about 12 square mile with an approximate population of 12,000. Los Altos Hills Town forms the core and the largest portion, with most of the other areas being contiguous with the Town's boundaries. The District Governing Body is a seven person Commission appointed by the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.  The District is located in Supervisoral District 5 and Supervisor Joe Simitian is the elected District 5 Supervisor.

The District website at https://www.lahcfd.org/about-the-district/map-of-the-district/ provides a map of the District, mission statement and overview of the District programs for protection, prevention and building resilient communities for residents and the community.  LAHCFD contracts with Santa Clara County Fire Protection District for delivery of fire suppression and emergency medical services. Fire crews are housed at the District's El Monte Fire Station on the Foothill College Campus.  

The District seeks to employ a full-time District Operations Manager to join the District team. The team consists of the General Manager, Emergency Services Manager, CERT Program General Analyst and District Clerk. LAHCFD utilizes its 2021/22 Strategic Plan, LAHCFD CWPP (Community Wildfire Protection Plan) Annex 4 and the adopted FY21/22 budget to implement programs, projects and initiatives to further the life safety and property protection of residents, community and public.
