Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional college level course work and specialized training in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field; Associate degree is highly desirable.
Licenses Possession of valid California driver’s license.
Certificates Possession of, or ability to obtain, CPR and First Aid certifications.
Conditions Must be 21 years of age upon appointment. No felony convictions. Must pass comprehensive background investigation. Must be a U.S. citizen and/or meet all U.S. citizenship and immigration requirements. Employment is contingent upon passing law enforcement medical examinations. As a condition of continued employment, must be able to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends, and may be required to travel outside City boundaries to attend meetings.
