Description

The City of Dixon is looking to fill one full-time position of Accounting Manager in the Finance Department. This position performs professional level accounting function such as recording and reporting financial transactions, review of financial records; provides fiscal control for assigned areas of operation, preparation of financial report statements and analyzes.  This is not a remote position and work schedule will be Monday through Friday, onsite.

Exam Process: A limited number of candidates whose applications indicate that they, among those competing, are better qualified in terms of related education, training, and experience will be invited to participate in an interview process & skills exam. The most qualified candidates from this process will be placed on an employment eligibility list to fill any current and future vacancies. Note: the examination process may be changed as deemed necessary.

Employment Processing: Those selected may be subject to pre-employment drug screen, DOJ fingerprint clearance, and a 12-month probationary period. In accordance with Federal law, an employee must provide proof of identity and legal right to work in the United States.

Ideal Candidate

KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

Knowledge of accounting theory, principles, and procedures and their application to a variety of funds and accounts including the general fund, governmental accounting; excellent computer skills including accounting and spreadsheet software familiarity, good organization skills; knowledge of payroll practices and procedures; knowledge of basic auditing and reconciliation practices; knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations; knowledge of principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation; knowledge of computer network and administration; knowledge of common office software.

Ability to coordinate the work of professional, technical and clerical personnel; to analyze and interpret fiscal accounting records and prepare accurate and complete financial reports, to develop and implement accounting system modifications, to prepare a variety of complex financial statements, to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; ability to analyze issues and to strategically plan both short term and long term solutions.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Finance or a related field

Experience: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible accounting experience, preferably in a government setting and some supervisory experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

These positions require possession of a valid California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment.

EMPLOYEE BENEFITS - BENEFIT SUMMARY SHEET

Medical: CalPERS Medical Insurance Plans, including HMOs and PPOs.  City gives an allowance toward the cost of insurance.  Maximum Family Medical Benefit Allowance (2024): $1,859 per month.

Retirement: CalPERS Retirement System (2% @ 60 formula for Classic CalPERS members and 2% @ 62 formula for new CalPERS members).

Admin Leave Pay (for FLSA Exempt employees): 96hrs per fiscal year; 50% cash out option

Bilingual Pay: $100 per month upon certification.
