There is currently one Electrician vacancy in the Construction Services section of the Department of Public Works. Electricians are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in and around County buildings. This position requires the ability to work independently in different locations with minimal supervision. While much of the work is performed independently, the Construction Services section is characterized by a strong sense of teamwork and camaraderie.

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Estimating, constructing, installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical services requiring journey-level skills.
  • Installing conduit, pulling wire, and installing electrical equipment.
  • Cleaning and repairing electric motors and other equipment.
  • Troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Performing layout work.
  • Performing preventative maintenance work.
  • Planning, coordinating, and supervising the work of assigned helpers.
  • Performing related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

  • A minimum of five years of experience working as an Electrician or completion of an apprenticeship program with journey-level status as an Electrician and demonstrated proficiency in electrical work.
