About Seal Beach
Located on the coast of Southern California, the City of Seal Beach is located approximately 28 miles east of Los Angeles and is nestled between the cities of Long Beach and Huntington Beach in the westernmost corner of Orange County. Seal Beach is well known for its historic wooden pier that juts out into the blue Pacific and a climate that is a weekend draw for the greater Southland. Even with a population of approximately 24,000, Seal Beach has retained its quaint "village-by-the-sea" ambiance.
Seal Beach was initially known as “Anaheim Landing”, a port that supplied the materials needed to build the new town of Anaheim. The coming of railroads to Anaheim ended Anaheim Landing’s usefulness as a port. The Landing became a popular recreation area, one of the first seaside resorts in Southern California. This soon led to the incorporation of the City of Seal Beach in 1915.
The Old Town area, with its Main Street, pier and sandy beaches, attracts nearly 1.5 million visitors each year. Restaurants, shopping and year-round activities make the Old Town area an ideal tourist destination. The City of Seal Beach also comprises of a planned senior development referred to as “Leisure World” and three traditional residential neighborhoods; the "Hill” located just above Pacific Coast Highway and "College Park East” and “College Park West", both located near the 405 freeway.
The City of Seal Beach contains the Naval Weapons Station, which provides ordnance and logistics support to our nation’s Naval and Marine operation forces, is also home to the 1,000 acre Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge. The Naval Station employs 530 civilian and 150 military personnel. Boeing International headquarters is also located in Seal Beach with over 1,000 employees.
Seal Beach is one of Southern California’s most attractive coastal communities, with a variety of homes, restaurants, entertainment, and scenery that contribute to Seal Beach’s vibrant community. Many consider it a quiet little paradise, offering a tranquil and relaxing environment for surf, sun, and fun.

ABOUT POSITION:
This position is a part-time, non-benefited position. Work hours may vary, and schedules can be up to 29 hours per week as needed. There are no guaranteed minimum number of hours per week. Hours of operation of the Seal Beach Tennis & Pickleball Center are typically Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 9:30 pm and Saturday/Sunday from 6:30 am - 5:30 pm.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Individual will work primarily at the City’s Seal Beach Tennis & Pickleball Center performing duties including, but not limited to, greeting and supervising patrons, handling of payments inside the Pro Shop, enforcing rules and regulations of the facility, opening/closing the facility, removing trash, restocking supplies, and general court maintenance, including court washing, locker room cleaning, and overall security of the facility.
This position will also work periodically as staff for facility rentals at the City’s community centers for various functions such as wedding receptions, baby showers, and birthday parties. This position may also help assist with scorekeeping for Adult Sports programs, including basketball and softball.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Ability to: Communicate effectively (both written and verbally); make good decisions; push, pull, drag, lift or carry equipment/supplies up to 50 lbs., lean, stoop, twist, bend and kneel in performance of job duties.
Experience & Training: One year experience working for Parks and Recreation Departments or similar experience and general knowledge of tennis and sports is desired.
