SMART

Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) is a new commuter rail service located in the Northern San Francisco Bay Area, serving Marin and Sonoma Counties. The first phase from the Santa Rosa Airport to downtown San Rafael includes 12 stations. SMART provides an alternative to Highway 101 traffic by upgrading the existing rail line and building a new bicycle-pedestrian pathway linking the rail stations. When completed, the line will extend 70 miles from Cloverdale in Northern Sonoma County south to the Larkspur Ferry Terminal in Marin County.
