Description

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for one individual to serve as a Facilities Maintenance Worker for the Facilities Department. The Facilities Maintenance Worker is responsible for independently performing routine and semiskilled maintenance and repair work. This position will report to the Facilities & Safety Manager.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Performs preventative maintenance and repair of Authority and leased properties; responds to work order requests and keeps reports and records of completed job; conducts daily mail runs for Authority staff.

 

  • Performs skilled and semi-skilled labor related to the maintenance, repair, and modification of buildings and facilities; performs minor carpentry, electrical, masonry, and plumbing work.

 

  • Performs routine painting of interior and exterior surfaces; moves and secures furniture, wall fixtures, equipment, and a variety of floor coverings; determines supplies needs and prepares orders for supplies and materials.

 

  • Ensures cleanliness of the Authority’s interior and exteriors premises, cleans windows, cleans, and sanitizes spills and debris.

 

  • Modifies and repairs plumbing fixtures, including toilets, sinks, or related elements.

 

  • Maintains and restocks emergency and sanitation supplies including water, food supplies, batteries, radios, and other related items.

 

  • Performs related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience


Education:

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by specialized working experience in building trades or training in construction management, facilities planning, construction technology, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Two (2) years of experience in general building maintenance and repair involving a variety of minor carpentry, electrical, masonry, painting, and plumbing work.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, a satisfactory driving record, and a properly registered and insured vehicle, to be maintained throughout employment.

FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE BENEFITS:

NEW!  Sign-on Bonuses:  $2500 for eligible positions.

Merit Salary Increases: Annually based on performance, budget availability and supervisor approval.

CalPERS Pension: 2% @ 55 for Classic Members and 2% @ 62 for PEPRA Members; employee contributes 7% for Classic and 7.75% for PEPRA. No Social Security. 

Vacation:  80 hours per year, increasing with years of service with a maximum of 240 hours; cash out option available.

Sick Leave: Full-Time employees = 88 hours per year with no cap.

Holidays: 11 paid holidays per calendar year plus an additional 16 hours of Floating Holidays.

NEW!  Longevity Pay: $2500 at 5 years of service; $5000 at 10-35 milestone years of service.

REVISED!  Flexible Work Schedule: 9/80, 4/10 and/or intermittent teleworking, where applicable and approved by supervisor. **

Health Insurance:  Medical (Kaiser HMO), dental (MetLife PPO) and vision coverage (EyeMed) of which 80% is paid by Tri-City Mental Health Authority (TCMHA).

Life Insurance: Paid at one times annual salary, paid by Tri-City MHA with additional optional coverage available.

Deferred Compensation (457b): Available to interested employees; no employer match.

**Availability of flexible schedule and days of regular day off is dependent upon the needs of the Department and approval from Management.
