Senior Civil & Environmental Engineer
Salary Range: $95,900/yr. - $189,900/yr. (Budgeted salary range $95,900/yr. - $142,900/yr.) 

 

Apply by Date: 1/6/2024  Applicants will be screened after two weeks; and then on a weekly basis. The position can be filled prior to the removal date.

Use advanced engineering concepts and organizational objectives to provide leadership and support focused on engineering, project management, and compliance for the Facilities Management: Utilities department. Work with individual Utilities system managers to evaluate system performance and provide technical leadership for deferred maintenance and capital improvement projects. Conduct master planning for future capacity needs. Conduct system assessments to improve the design of physical plant systems. Lead civil system compliance efforts. Regularly work on highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum License/Certification:

  • Current registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California.

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited program, preferably in one of the following disciplines: Civil or Environmental.
  • Over ten years of experience in engineering design, master planning, plan review, project administration and facility operation in storm, water, water reuse, sanitary sewer and solid waste systems.
  • Extensive experience with interpreting regulations, permitting, and regulatory compliance for water, wastewater, and solid waste operations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education/Experience:  

  • Experience with Capital Improvement Project (CIP) budgeting and with developing sewer, water and treatment plant master plan documents and condition assessments.
  • Experience with water and wastewater system maintenance; understanding of Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS) principles.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner with excellent customer service skills; ability to readily assess complex challenges and barriers and recommend effective resolutions.
  • Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Advanced project management skills needed to assume responsibility for both high quality and timely accomplishment of design and construction projects.
  • Advanced interpersonal and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and influence others.
