The City of Union City's Community and Recreation Services is seeking returning staff for the following roles:

  • Day Camp, Sports Camp & Youth Parks & Playgrounds Leader (Recreation Leader) - $17.14- $20.84/hourly
  • Fitness Attendant (Recreation Leader) - $17.14 -$20.84/hourly
  • Gym Attendant/Scorekeeper (Recreation Aide) - $16.00 - 16.80/hourly
  • Lifeguard (Recreation Leader) - $17.14 - $20.84/hourly
  • Park Monitor (Project Specialist) - $18.00 - $25.00/hourly
  • Pool Manager (CRS Program Manager) - $20.57 - $25.00/hourly
  • Senior Lifeguard (Senior Recreation Leader) - $18.24-  $22.22hourly
  • Substitute Preschool Site Supervisor (CRS Program Manager) - $20.57 - $25.00/hourly
  • Teen Leader (Recreation Leader) - $17.14 - $20.84/hourly

Ideal Candidate

  1. Day Camp, Sports Camp & Youth Parks & Playgrounds Leader (Recreation Leader) 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be available for 4-8 hours shifts Monday - Friday, between the hours of 7 AM- 5:30 PM.
  • Possess a valid California Driver’s License is desirable.
  • CPR/ First Aid certification by their first day of employment (training for certification will be provided by City of Union City upon employment).

 

  1. Fitness Attendant (Recreation Leader) 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be available for 4-8 hours shifts Monday - Friday, between the hours of 7 AM- 5:30 PM.
  • Possess a valid California Driver’s License is desirable.
  • CPR/ First Aid certification by their first day of employment (training for certification will be provided by City of Union City upon employment).

 

  1. Gym Attendant/Scorekeeper (Recreation Aide) 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 15 ½  years old.
  • Must be available for 4-8 hours shifts Monday - Friday, between the hours of 7 AM- 5:30 PM.

 

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:

CPR/ First Aid certification by their first day of employment (training for certification will be provided by City of Union City upon employment).

 

  1. Lifeguard (Recreation Leader) 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 15.5 years of age.
  • Possession of a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certificate in: CPR, AED, First Aid certification by their first day of employment or soon after (A certification course is provided by the City).   

 

  1. Park Monitor (Project Specialist)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

 

  1. Pool Manager (CRS Program Manager) 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Two years of aquatic experience and leadership preferred.
  • Current Red Cross Certifications in: Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Training, Community First Aid and Safety, CPR for the Professional Rescuer (CPR/FPR).
  • Candidates are encouraged to possess one of the following as highly desirable certification: LGI - Lifeguard Instructor certification in any American Red Cross course, EMT level certification or Emergency Response Course completion.

 

  1. Senior Lifeguard (Senior Recreation Leader) 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 17 years of age.
  • One (1) season of experience as a lifeguard or swim instructor.
  • Leadership experience is preferred.
  • Must possess a current Water Safety Instructor’s certificate or hold equivalent experience (1 year of teaching swim lessons).
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certification by first day of employment.

 

  1. Substitute Preschool Site Supervisor (CRS Program Manager) 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have 3-4 years’ experience working with children ages 2-5

    AND

    This position requires an AA Degree.

    OR

    Have a minimum of 60 units including:

  • 24 ECE/CD units with core courses
  • 16 GE units
  • 6 administration units
  • 2 adult supervision units 
  • California Driver’s License.
  • Possession of a California State licensed Site Supervisor Permit is desirable.

 

  1. Teen Leader (Recreation Leader) 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be available for 4-8 hours shifts Monday - Friday, between the hours of 7 AM- 5:30 PM.
  • Possess a valid California Driver’s License is desirable.
  • CPR/ First Aid certification by their first day of employment (training for certification will be provided by City of Union City upon employment).

 

  1. Tennis Instructor (Project Specialist) 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have knowledge of basic Tennis game play and rules.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must be available to work up to 7-8 hours shifts Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8 AM -5 PM and Saturdays and Sundays.

 

  1. Tot Time Substitute Teacher (Senior Recreation Leader) 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s License.
  • Prior experience working in early childhood education or recreation required.
  • Possession of 12 ECE/ED units desired.

 

  1. Safe Parking Attendant (Senior Recreation Leader) 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Experience working with the unhoused population or providing outreach services or social work to diverse populations is desirable. 
  • Hours will range from 4 - 33 hours a week.
  • Program operates seven (7) days a week: Full shift: 8:00 P.M. - 7:00 A.M. Half Shift: 8:00 P.M. - 12:00 A.M.
  • First Aid certification is desired.
