• Sprays oil on excavated area and over patches.
• Selects proper tip and angle of cut for jackhammer.
• Operates compressor, jackhammer and other power tools.
• Under supervision operate loader, backhoe, or storm drain cleaning machines.
• Performs concrete repair work.
• Cuts lumber for concrete forms to proper size and place stakes.
• Breaks up and remove concrete.
• Spreads and level base rock.
• Mixes concrete; pour concrete into forms, tamp, jitterbug surface.
• Applies concrete finish with trowel, screed, float or other tools.
• Patch holes with fresh concrete.

 
Traffic Safety Assignment

• Replaces, maintains and repairs guard rails, traffic dividers, signs, and similar traffic control devices.
• Assists in determining color of paint to be applied to street markings.
• Selects proper stencils for street markings.
• Applies stripes and intervals for new street markings.
• Places stencils over old street markings, start compressor and spray inside stencils.
• Cleans and maintains spray equipment, including stencil truck; place and pick up traffic cones during the operation of the striping machine.
• Prepares traffic signs.
• Applies sheeting to metal sign blanks for background color, numbering and lettering.
• Trim sign edges.
• Assists with street sign installation.
• Participates in the installation of raised pavement markers.
• Operates striping machine.

Street Sanitation Assignment

• Controls and remove litter.
• Removes drain outlet cover.
• Cleans storm drains and lines using hand and power tools.
• Under supervision, operates storm drain cleaning machines.

Marginal Functions
All Assignments:

• Receives and responds to public questions concerning current and projected work projects, location of streets, and directions.

To administer and manage the mental health programs and services of the Hayward Police Department. Under general direction, plans, provides, and implements mental health services and programs within the Hayward Police Department.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Camp Maintenance Mechanic (Non-Career Intermittent) in the Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to keep our camps running smoothly by performing both routine and heavy, physical work in the construction, maintenance, repair and cleaning of camp facilities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

State of California Drinking Water Treatment Certifications (Grade 1 or 2) desirable. Must possess and maintain a valid California non-commercial (Class C) driver's license, and have a satisfactory driving record. Must possess sufficient strength and stamina to lift and carry objects weighing up to 80 pounds and be able to perform sustained heavy physical labor. A Dispatcher II is a civilian employee of the Police Department who performs a variety of tasks in the Department’s Support Services Division. The Dispatcher II acts as the Department’s primary dispatcher, receiving and relaying incoming calls for emergency and non-emergency assistance; dispatching police units; operating a variety of telecommunications equipment including radio, telephone, and computer-aided dispatch systems; status monitoring, records and file maintenance in a computer-aided environment; and entry level dispatch training. A Dispatcher II may be assigned to work various hours, shifts, holidays, weekends and overtime.

Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: prioritize requests for service based upon available resources, receive radio requests and handle accordingly, type, process and file a wide variety of reports and materials including memos, letters, complaints, declarations, warrants, citations, crime and traffic reports.  Assists Department personnel and the public in person and by phone performing record checks, collecting fees and mailing requested reports to outside agencies in accordance with established regulations.

Have a combination of education and work experience, including a minimum of 1 year of dispatch work; general office work involving typing of varied materials, public contact, general filing and basic record keeping; type at least 40 wpm (net).  Have knowledge of business English, spelling; modern office practices and procedures; record keeping. Ability to dispatch police units quickly and effectively; work under pressure; exercise independent judgment; work with minimal supervision; make sound decisions in emergency situations; learn assigned clerical tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed routine; write English legibly; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; operate computer-aided dispatch system, 911 emergency telephone, and other multi-line telephone systems, various law enforcement telecommunications systems, radio console with headsets and handsets, computer keyboards, cameras, intercoms, security. • Salary:  $6,538 to $8,468 per month. Placement within the range depends on experience and qualifications.

For well qualified officers, the Newark Police Department offers accelerated hiring and training programs, as well as numerous lateral entry incentives.  Our program is designed to recognize and reward your skills and experience, to include: $2500 academy reimbursement and $2500 for moving expenses. Well qualified laterals may be appointed to top salary range, and may transfer 120 hours of vacation and 100 hours of sick leave to Newark upon hire.

POSITION

A Dispatcher I is a civilian employee of the Police Department who performs a variety of tasks in the Department’s Support Services Division. The Dispatcher I receives incoming calls for police assistance and response; acts as a primary Dispatcher when appropriate; performs a variety of general support duties related to police communications; completes a wide variety of general clerical duties.

The Dispatcher I duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Answer emergency and non-emergency police related phone calls, help prioritize requests for service based upon available resources, receive radio requests and handle accordingly, type, process and file a wide variety of reports and materials including memos, letters, complaints, declarations, warrants, citations, crime and traffic reports.  Assists Department personnel and the public in person and by phone performing record checks, collecting fees and mailing requested reports to outside agencies in accordance with established regulations.  A Dispatcher I may be assigned to work various hours, shifts, holidays, weekends and overtime.

QUALIFICATIONS

A combination of education and work experience including 2-3 years of general office work involving typing of varied materials, public contact, general filing and basic record keeping; type at least 40 wpm net.  Knowledge of business English, spelling; modern office practices and procedures; record keeping. Ability to learn assigned clerical tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed routine; write English legibly; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; type and learn the operation of other standard office equipment; a willingness to work varying shifts; and to learn radio dispatching skills.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The City of Pleasant Hill offers a competitive compensation and benefits program.

• Salary:  $6,252 - $8,059 per month
• Medical Benefits: Choice of coverage with Kaiser or Blue Shield. The City pays 80% of monthly premiums at each coverage level. In lieu of medical coverage, the City will contribute $400 (employee only coverage) or $500 (employee + 1 coverage) or $600 (family coverage) into a MissionSquare 457 deferred compensation plan

• Shift Differential Pay: 5% of the employee’s base hourly wage
• Educational Degree Incentive: 1.25% AA Degree or 60 semester/90 quarter units; 5% Bachelor’s Degree or 120 semester/180 quarter units; 7.5% MA/MS Degree
• Educational Expense Reimbursement: City will reimburse for tuition, books and technology upgrades up to $500 per semester or quarter
• On Duty Exercise Program: 1 hour per shift
• Probationary Period: One year (12 months)

Entry-level applicants:   Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications may be invited to take an online Dispatcher test and will be notified by email of their scheduled testing date.  The most qualified applicants based on background and experience as evidenced by their application, and those with a passing score on the online test may be invited for an oral board interview, which is weighted 100%.  To be placed on an eligibility list, an applicant must receive a passing score of 70 or more from each panel member.

A thorough background check, as well as a physical, including a drug screen, psychological evaluation, and polygraph exam will be conducted on the top candidates prior to appointment consideration.  Failure to achieve a qualifying score on any portion of the examination process will eliminate a candidate from further consideration.
