The City of Berkeley is seeking a General Services Manager to join the Finance Department! In this role, you will act as the division head and will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the programs and activities of the General Services Division. The incumbent will have management responsibility for this division, which provides for the centralized purchasing, central duplication and mail services for the City. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college with major course work in accounting, business administration, information technology or public administration or a related field, and four (4) years experience with management and supervisory responsibility for purchasing, accounts payable or other municipal services functions similar to those identified herein, of which two (2) years of experience must have been in managing a centralized purchasing operation.

Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college course work on a year-for-year basis.

Other requirements: Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, maintenance of a valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required.

The Department of Public Works is currently seeking to fill multiple full-time Engineer I/II vacancies of different disciplines that may be assigned to work in the various divisions of the department including Transportation and Hydraulic Services (THS) or Development Services (DS).

Transportation and Hydraulic Services Division The Transportation and Hydraulics Services Division is responsible for the design, construction, and master plan of bridges, culverts, streets, sidewalks, storm and sanitary sewers, pump stations, streetlights, landscape and hardscape improvements, traffic signals, and supports construction and engineering, upgrade and revitalization of the San Jose-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility. In addition, this division provides general engineering plan review for general projects and electrical engineering review for projects constructed by private developers.

Development Services Division

The Development Services Division provides development plan review and construction of City infrastructure in conjunction with the private development process, administers permits for work within City's streets, and provides utilities services.

Airport Capital Improvements Program

The Airport Division Capital Improvements team is responsible for the project management and delivery of capital projects related to San Jose Mineta International Airport.

City Facilities Architectural Services Division CFAS Division has the primary responsibility for the delivery of capital improvements projects on City properties and provides design and construction services for public buildings, landscape improvements, and capital maintenance projects, including recreational facilities, parks, trails, libraries, public safety facilities, and various cultural facilities.

Engineering Services Division

The Engineering Services Division is comprised of four sections: Construction Management Services, Structural Engineering and Code Inspection, Material Testing Laboratory, and Survey. This division provides technical support services to City Capital Improvement Programs and Projects, development/utility permit projects, and other citywide customers.

The department of Parks, Creation and Neighborhood Services is currently seeking to fill two Part Time Security Officers positions for Happy Hollow Park and Zoo.

The hourly range for Security Officer part time classification is $28.77-$34.98. This salary range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.

Under the direction of the HHPZ Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Supervisor, the part time Security Officer performs security work of moderate difficulty in maintaining a safe environment for the use of public buildings/facilities utilized by San José and Bay Area Residents. This is a highly visible City-wide facility and program with a focus on ensuring safety, security, and customer service for the guests, partners, and staff of Happy Hollow Park & Zoo. This would include patrols, incident reporting, emergency services coordination and customer service. This position works Sunday-Thursday, occasional special events, and some holidays.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

     * Walk HHPZ - inside park, outside fence line, parking lots - East Lot, K1, K2 & K4

The City of Saratoga is currently recruiting to fill a full-time Accounting Technician position within the Administrative Services Department. The incumbent will report to the Finance Manager.

The Accounting Technician, under general supervision, performs journey-level technical and administrative account support duties associated with preparing, maintaining, and processing accounts receivable and accounts payable records and transactions. This department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Power Resources Specialist I/II position to support the Risk Management and Contracts Administration Division.

This position is part of an exciting fast-paced team responsible for mitigating risks and managing a power portfolio comprised of hundreds of megawatts of renewable energy projects.

The selected candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:

• Evaluate, review, and validate the accuracy of market positions and risk metrics such as mark-to-market, value at risk, gross margin at risk.
• Perform quantitative and analytical data modeling to quantify risks, evaluate risk reduction strategies, aid strategic/ operational decision making and provide insights.
• Update, manage and validate accuracy of Power BI business intelligence dashboards related to energy risk management such as risk limits, forward prices, collateral.

DEFINITION:

Under general direction, manages and directs the Accounting Division of the Finance Department, including the budget development process and preparation of the budget book; budget monitoring, analysis and reporting; short- and long-range fiscal forecasting; ensuring adherence to financial policies and procedures; and capital planning.  The Accounting Manager trains and evaluates assigned staff.

CLASS CHARACTERISITICS:

This is a single position classification at the managerial level in the Finance Department responsible for managing the budget and accounting functions. The Accounting Manager has a broad range of independence within policy and procedural limitations and works under minimal supervision. The incumbent is accountable to the Finance Director for the quality and efficiency of services directed.  The Accounting Manager is expected to provide resources, system support, and oversight to all subordinate professional and paraprofessional staff. This position is responsible for the successful planning and implementation of the citywide budget process and the day-to-day accounting operations.  

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (illustrative only):

• Plan, organize, direct and evaluate the activities of the Accounting Division including general accounting, accounts payable and payroll.
• Recommend the appointment of personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; conduct performance evaluations; work with employees on performance issues; and implement disciplinary procedures.
• Prepare, review and maintain journal entries and general ledger postings and supporting financial records and supervise the maintenance of the General Ledger.           

• Conduct and coordinate the annual audit and serve as the liaison between the City and the external auditors, provide requested information and necessary documentation for completion of the audit, and ensure timely completion of the audit, State Controller’s Office reports and other compliance reports as required.
• Oversee reconciliations of the City’s financial activities including bank accounts and investments, month-end and year-end close processes and prepare related reports.
• Plan and implement citywide budget process and related fiscal programs.
• Effectively communicate budget preparation calendar and information needs, capabilities, and limitations as well as budget policies, procedures and outcomes to departments, city officials, citizens, and other interested parties.
• Project citywide personnel costs on an annual basis and as needed.
• Monitor the City’s budget, perform budget analysis, prepare quarterly budget status reports, develop financial and capital plans, and prepare short- and long-range financial forecasts.
