The City of Livermore is currently accepting applications to fill one (1) Mechanic vacancy and one (1) Senior Mechanic vacancy in the Fleet Services Section of the Maintenance Division.

Mechanics at all levels perform maintenance and repair services on heavy/light City vehicles/equipment, such as fire trucks, automobiles, construction equipment, street sweepers, lawn mowers, stationary generators; and perform other duties as assigned.

The Mechanic is a journey level classification in the Mechanic series. The Mechanic performs a range of skilled tasks requiring journey level mechanical ability and aptitude. Work assignments are performed according to established rules and procedures.

The Senior Mechanic is an advanced journey and lead level position classification in the Mechanic series and may be distinguished from those in the Mechanic class by the broader range of responsibilities and leading a crew. Senior Mechanics provide lead direction and training to section staff.

There is currently one (1) Full-Time 2-Year fixed-term position in the Department of Public Works supporting both the Water Resources and Road Maintenance Divisions.  

The Natural Resources Senior Planner will be housed in the Water Resources Division and will primarily support environmental compliance for Department of Public Works (DPW) Road Maintenance Division projects, including maintenance, repair, and replacement of roads, bridges, and drainage infrastructure (i.e., culverts, ditches and drainage channels).  
The work is dynamic, requiring strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to accomplish the following tasks that range among:

• coordinating with the Road Maintenance Division managers to develop permitting strategies. 
• analyzing project impacts on species and the environment. 
• preparing permit applications and negotiating with agencies. 
• hiring and managing consultants. 
• working with project managers to identify and implement best management practices and develop mitigation strategies to off-set impacts. 
• conducting pre-project biological surveys. 
• report writing. 
• post-construction monitoring.

The Wastewater Collection Systems Worker performs a variety of routine to skilled work in the construction, modification, maintenance, and repair of City infrastructure, including wastewater collection, stormwater and drainage, and related systems. The successful candidate will use and operate a variety of manual and power tools and light to heavy power-driven equipment to perform skilled and specialized work on drainage, collection, and related systems, and appurtenances, and perform related work as required. The department may hire at either the I or the II level depending on the skills, certifications, and licenses held by the pool of qualified applicants.

The department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Power Resources Specialist I/II position to support the Regulatory Compliance and Policy Division.

The ideal candidate is a skilled and highly motivated individual, with creative problem-solving skills, the ability to learn quickly, and the desire to work both independently and collaboratively. Good judgment, initiative, and cooperation with other staff and outside stakeholders are assets to this position. Under general direction of the Deputy Director, this position will be responsible for supporting the division's engagement in state regulatory affairs to protect and advance San José policy, business, and community interests.

Typical duties of this position may include, but are not limited to:
• Monitor, review, interpret, and explain to a variety of audiences regulatory proposals and other policy issues with an eye toward impact on SJCE and its customers.
• Respond to compliance and data requests by gathering relevant data, drafting reports, and receiving approvals within designated timeframes.
• Support the preparation of comments, position papers, testimony, and the like related to a variety of technical regulatory proceedings impacting SJCE energy procurement, energy management, and electric rates.
• Work independently and with stakeholders to influence state policy.
• Build and maintain stakeholder relationships including non-profit, business, and government entities, and where appropriate build regional and statewide coalitions to support the interests of the department.
• Work closely with technical experts and external regulatory counsel to develop effective and persuasive communications before state agencies as required.
• Represent SJCE in work with other CCAs and with SJCE's state trade association
• Manage a portfolio of regulatory proceedings and/or compliance reporting, including tracking issues, analyzing potential impacts, engaging with stakeholders, and communicating with other internal divisions.
• Perform other related duties as required.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Assistant Planner! In this role, you will have the opportunity to assist higher-level planners in Land Use or Transportation by collecting data, performing research, and preparing reports.

In the Land Use Division of the Planning Department, incumbents are responsible for: Tracking permit activity; Researching zoning history, land use policies, development trends, and precedents; Supporting commission meetings; Preparing written reports and presenting to commissions, committees, community members, and other boards; Assisting in preparing amendments to the General Plan, Municipal Code, and/or other policy and procedure documents. Applicants will be expected to use a variety of software to maintain and update electronic forms, databases, and records, as well as creating maps and graphics in GIS and Adobe Creative Suite.

In the Transportation Division of the Public Works Department, incumbents are responsible for: Assisting with research, planning, conceptual design, and delivery of transportation and parking projects; drafting public notification materials, assisting with organizing and/or attending outreach events, and conducting in-person outreach; producing maps and graphics for transportation projects and parking operations; assisting with the City's coordination and monitoring of privately-operated shared mobility programs, including bicycle sharing and scooter sharing; assisting with preparation of transportation plans and policy documents, including the Pedestrian Master Plan Update, transportation impact analysis guidelines, and Complete Streets Policy implementation guidelines; and supporting the ongoing operation of the City's demand-based parking pricing program (goBerkeley), including conducting periodic data collection, analyzing data in Excel and GIS, and assisting with preparation of parking policy documents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this classification is:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college with major coursework in city, regional, or urban planning, or a closely related field. Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college coursework on a year-for-year basis.

A valid California driver's license is desirable. Must be able to attend evening meetings as required.

The Associate Planner administers complex current and advanced planning activities, including serving as project manager for complex development applications and special projects. The incumbent administers specified activities in such areas as zoning, advance planning, and environmental impact studies, protection, and compliance, as well as the Capital Improvement Program (CIP). If current planning activities are assigned, work will include data collection, provision of information to the public at the zoning counter, processing development applications, and environmental review. If policy planning activities are assigned, work will include ordinance and plan revisions, data collection and analysis, and other land use studies.

In the Transportation Division, the Associate Planner works on a variety of projects, programs, and initiatives, such as developing, implementing, and updating the City's transportation plans; analyzing transportation and traffic safety data to identify and prioritize projects and policies that will improve public safety; developing Complete Streets projects and supporting the implementation of transportation capital improvement projects; and coordinating with transit providers, primarily AC Transit, on transit projects affecting Berkeley, including service planning and bus stop improvements. Additional duties may include leading grant applications and assisting with grant compliance, procurement of consultants, and consultant and contract management.

The City of Half Moon Bay is recruiting for a Director of Community Development who will be responsible for managing the City's activities associated with planning, building, code enforcement, inspection, public works maintenance, administration and operational direction to the Community Development Department, the Director is responsible for ensuring a seamless permitting process.  The Director advises the City Manager and/or Assistant City Manager on matters pertaining to the departmental functions.
