The City of East Palo Alto is now actively seeking a friendly, compassionate, organized, responsible part-time Shuttle Van Driver. The Shuttle Driver drives the City shuttle to designated locations within the City of East Palo Alto, and occasionally outside the City for regional events or activities, and performs related duties as assigned.

 

The City of Berkeley is seeking applications for a part-time Mealsite Coordinator! In this role, you will be responsible for setting up mealsite areas in preparation for senior meal service as well as assigning and training volunteers. You'll work with other administrative and support staff to ensure efficient and timely meal service delivery at a senior center.

The anticipated schedule for this part-time role is Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is:

Equivalent to completion of the eighth grade, one (1) year food service experience or six (6) months experience in coordinating a service delivery program preferably in a food service area, including required statistical reporting and accurate recordkeeping.

 Job Description:  The Children's Fund of San Mateo County is seeking two Part-Time/Temporary interns. This position would report directly to the Children's Fund Program Coordinator and assist with the Holiday Gift program. Each year over 1,500 gifts are distributed to low income/foster youth living in San Mateo County. This is a fun, fast paced, hands on position that requires dedication and flexibility to the job.

NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment.

LIBRARIAN I/II (For internal/promotional only)

Serve the City of San Bruno by developing Library Resources and Programs in our community! 

The City of San Bruno offers a unique opportunity to serve as a Librarian I/II, with a particular focus on youth services. Librarians perform professional library work including programming, reference services, cataloging, interlibrary loans, and children’s or adult services, with an emphasis on fostering literacy and lifelong learning among young patrons. They work under the supervision of the Library Services Manager and the Community Services Superintendent and may provide indirect supervision to paraprofessional staff of the library, ensuring high-quality support for youth and other community members alike. 

 

Librarian I is entry level position, responsible for a limited scope of a library program area, which requires the application of fundamental library science principles and practices.  

 

Librarian II is a journey level position, distinguished from that of Librarian I, by the greater complexity of the assignments and by the greater independence with which the employee is expected to operate. 

 

Examples of the essential duties and responsibilities include:  

 

• Perform professional work in rendering reference services, reader's advisory, and library instruction to patrons, with a special emphasis on youth and children’s services. This includes classification and cataloging of materials, ordering of books, documents, periodicals, and other materials. 

• Secure books through interlibrary loan system; search appropriate databases and identify books and other materials; request materials from an appropriate source; process materials for distribution to the patron; respond to requests from other libraries for interlibrary loans. 

• Assist in the development and implementation of programs and services such as outreach to homebound patrons, public relations, coordination of volunteers, children's services outreach through the city’s programming network and other social media outlets. 

• Conduct children's story times, focusing on early literacy development and engagement. 

• Prepare publicity; coordinate the publication of brochures; coordinate the dissemination of Library program publicity, particularly for children’s and youth services. 

• Review book collection to determine additional materials needed; selects materials for repair or discard. 

• Attends and represents the library at professional meetings as required. 

• Perform other duties as assigned. 

 

In addition to graduation from a master’s degree in library science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited college of university, the ideal candidate will demonstrate the following competencies: 

 

• Strong, hands-on technical skills and knowledge in the principles and practices of library science and services. 

• Initiating actions to reduce barriers and leverage the advantages of diverse cultures, interpersonal styles, ideas, and professional and educational backgrounds.

Minimum Requirements 

This position requires a master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited college or university. Additionally, Librarian II requires two years of increasingly responsible professional experience performing duties similar to a Librarian I in the City of San Bruno.

The County Attorney’s Office of the County of San Mateo is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Deputy County Attorney II, III, or IV - Labor Standards Enforcement.

THE COUNTY ATTORNEY'S OFFICE
The County Attorney’s Office (also referred to as the County Counsel’s Office) is the general counsel for the County of San Mateo and all of its departments, as well as for many school districts and special districts. As a large company might utilize its in-house counsel, our clients rely on our office for the full range of legal services, covering a broad spectrum of practice areas. The office's more than 30 attorneys handle nearly all of the County's civil litigation, including employment, contract, commercial, personal injury, probate matters, civil rights, child welfare, taxation, environmental law and impact litigation.
 
THE POSITION
The position will be a Deputy County Attorney II, III or IV, depending on the selected candidates’ experience and qualifications. The starting salary ranges from $154,856.00 to $272,459.20 depending upon the level of each position, but the job description and duties remain the same.
 
Recently the County Board of Supervisors passed a Resolution directing the County Executive to take the necessary steps to establish an Office of Labor Standards Enforcement (OLSE). The OLSE envisions all workers being paid a fair wage and treated respectfully in San Mateo County. The OLSE will provide outreach and education to workers and employers within the County about labor standards, including wage-per-hour requirements. The OLSE will also coordinate investigation and enforcement efforts regarding labor standard violations within the County. The OLSE will be a collaborative partnership between the Office of Racial and Social Justice, the County Attorney’s Office, and the District Attorney’s Office, integrating the strengths across offices to implement the functions of the new OLSE for the County of San Mateo.
 
This position will advise the OLSE on all legal aspects of their work. This position will also review, triage, and investigate allegations of labor standard violations, calculate lost wages and penalties, communicate with employers regarding violations, negotiate restitution for impacted employees as needed, and file prosecutions of such violations, when appropriate. This position will serve as both in-house counsel to the OLSE as well as trial counsel for labor standard enforcement efforts. Because this is a new position supporting a new County function, it requires someone who is a self-starter with knowledge and experience of labor standards and wage and hour laws.  

 

Qualifications

 

• At least a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a practicing attorney is required;
• Experience with labor standards enforcement and or wage and hour litigation;
• Membership in good standing with the California Bar;
• A demonstrated history of hard work, dedication, and academic excellence;
