The salary range for this classification is $47,982.48 - $58,422.00 annually.

This position is covered under the Pay Floor Policy and hourly rates will be adjusted to a minimum of $26.66 hourly for benefitted positions. The Pay Floor rate consists of a base amount and an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.

Community Services Division: Safe + Clean + Engaged Neighborhoods

Empower and support residents, schools, and local organizations to make the City more livable, safe, and clean.

Project Hope is a neighborhood engagement and empowerment initiative focused on nine neighborhoods in San Jose. Organized into operational teams, Project Hope staff are assigned to specific neighborhoods, where they assist residents to address the conditions and circumstances that exist due to systemic racism such as crime/violence, blight, lack of trust, marginalization, and inadequate services. Project Hope supports residents to create new neighborhood associations or reinvigorate existing ones, develop the organizational and capacity building skills to better utilize and reach key City, and other public/private resources to address ongoing quality-of-life issues.

Community Activity Workers in Project Hope build strong relationships with residents, partners and community; assist neighborhood associations/board members with planning for meetings and events; inform residents of City services; assist neighborhood associations in building strong relationships with City of San José departments and other local government agencies, and; provide in-service trainings and workshops for community leaders to ensure self-sustainability of the neighborhood associations. ?Applicants should enjoy spending time in the community directly engaging with residents (e.g. canvassing, door-to-door outreach & surveying), planning and attending community events, bringing people together for positive results, and teaching residents how to engage with City and other public/private partners to address neighborhood/community issues.

Job duties for Community Activity Workers in Project Hope include, but are not limited to:

• Providing support to Community Coordinator in resident engagement efforts of three Project Hope sites
• Working some weekend and/or evening schedules per the program schedule
• Developing and presenting written materials and making public presentations to inform people about programs and encourage participation.
• Providing assistance to board members to increase the capacity of neighborhood associations achieving self-sustainability.
• Participating in planning and coordinating in-service training and development of program aids and materials.
• Performing public contact and liaison work in explaining and interpreting the Project Hope program.
• Preparing and monitoring budget and timesheets for the program and in support of neighborhood associations.
• Preparing monthly reports and correspondence and assisting community groups in grant writing.
• Coordinating with governmental agencies, local businesses, community-based organizations, County partners and City departments.
• Surveying targeted neighborhoods needs via methods including telephone, surveys, knock-and-talks or door-to-door canvassing.
• Providing information to residents on accessing City services or other service providers.
• Assisting in planning and implementing special activities or programs, such as community service or community empowerment projects, community meetings, community/graffiti clean-ups, tree-planting, tutoring, or sports activities for and with neighborhood associations.
• Rendering first aid in case of injury; watching for the safety of participants and spectators.
• Designing and producing flyers and announcements.
• May be required to provide bilingual translation, both orally and in writing.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Director of Finance located in Boulder Creek, CA. The Director of Finance supervises, oversees and manages the activities and operations of the Finance Department including financial reporting, general accounting, purchasing, warehousing and inventory control; budget preparation, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, debt administration, revenue management, administration of invested funds and performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications – Demonstrated Knowledge and Performance in the Following Areas

• Principles and practices of financial analysis.
• Principles and practices of public agency finance, including general and governmental accounting, auditing, and reporting functions.
• Fundamentals of investment management, monitoring of assets, and required reporting.
• Cash flow management and financial projections for planning and decision-making.
• Advanced accounting and financial reporting systems.
• Advanced principles and practices of public agency budget development and administration and sound financial management policies and procedures;
• Principles and practices of effective management and supervision including planning, organizing, reviewing work, and training and evaluating staff.
• Computer applications related to accounting, budgeting, and fiscal management.
• Principles, practices, and trends of public and business administration.
• Applicable Federal, State, local, and district laws rules, regulatory codes, ordinances, and procedures relevant to the assigned area of responsibility;
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Experience in the water utility industry is a plus
• Knowledge of California water utility regulations and laws is a plus

Education, Training and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
• 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in finance, accounting, or auditing preferably in governmental/ municipal agency

StopWaste is hiring an Energy Council Program Services Specialist to work on Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) programs. The position will conduct community outreach and engage with stakeholders to make energy upgrades and electrify multifamily and single family buildings in Alameda County and the larger Bay Area. It will also work on growing and strengthening the clean energy workforce to help achieve energy and climate goals. THE POSITION

The City Attorney's Office seeks a well-qualified, motivated attorney for the position of Assistant City Attorney. This is an at-will position that serves as part of the City's executive management team. 

The Assistant City Attorney will provide legal advice, counsel, and representation to the City in areas including, but not limited to, land use, real estate, housing, and environmental law. Duties include drafting and reviewing contracts, ordinances, resolutions, deeds, permits, licenses, and other legal documents, conducting research, interpreting and updating the City Municipal Code, and providing advice to City staff. 

The Assistant City Attorney will provide counsel to the Planning Commission, the Community Development Department, other City departments, and assist with the enforcement of City Municipal Code. The Assistant City Attorney receives general direction and supervision from the City Attorney and may provide oversight and supervision to support staff. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will have a broad base of knowledge and experience in a variety of areas of municipal law such as the Brown Act, Political Reform Act, Public Records Act, contracts, personnel matters, public safety, public works, and advisory and litigation services. Extensive expertise in land use, Planning and Zoning, the Subdivision Map Act, CEQA, and Housing is especially desirable. However, applicants without land use expertise are also encouraged to apply.

THE DEPARTMENT

The City Attorney's Office consists of the City Attorney, Assistant City Attorney, and Department Administrative Specialist and has a departmental budget of, $1,118,400. The City Attorney's Office advises the Rocklin City Council, City Boards and Commissions, and City Departments on the legal propriety of proposed municipal actions. The City Attorney's Office also prepares and/or reviews all ordinances, resolutions. contracts and other documents and represents the City in civil litigation and acts as liaison to outside special counsel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association with a Juris Doctorate degree;

AND

Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience as an attorney in the practice of civil or municipal law.

Licenses and Certificates:

• Active membership, in good standing, in the State Bar of California.

About the Highway Program Deputy Director

The Highway Program Deputy Director, reporting to the Chief of Engineering and Program Delivery, manages a diverse and talented team of seasoned staff who is well-versed on the delivery of capital projects related to the State highway system and other roadways in the county. This position is responsible for directing and leading collaboration on planning, design development (including technical analysis in support of preliminary engineering and final design), project-related right-of-way activities (in coordination with VTA Real Estate), construction management and close out, overall program/project management (including scopes, costs, schedules and quality of work), management of staff resources (both VTA and consultant), coordination with project stakeholders within VTA and beyond (e.g., local agencies, Caltrans, federal agencies, resources agencies, utilities, etc.), and community and other outreach (working with VTA public information and government affairs staff).

The City of Santa Clara is recruiting for the Electric Utility Chief Operating Officer for its Electric Utility, Silicon Valley Power (SVP).  Reporting to the Chief Electric Utility Officer (CEUO), the Electric Utility Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a senior management position in the City's unclassified service responsible for the oversight and direction for the fiscal, administrative, and managerial operations of the utility. The COO has supervisory and support responsibilities for the utility's divisions: Utility Operations, Customer Development and Project Management, Resource Planning and Customer Engagement, and Business Services. The COO will help guide SVP through the extraordinary period of growth related by doubling the existing capacity of the electrical system to meet new customer demands over the next 10 years. In addition to the expansion, the COO will work to ensure new renewable resources are added to meet the City's and State’s climate goals. The COO is responsible for forecasting service requirements and for planning, organizing and directing assigned resources of the electric utility division in order to meet those requirements. This includes developing and administering the department operations and capital improvement budgets. The COO is expected to exercise critical thinking and detail oriented oversight in ensuring that utility operations are smooth, efficient, and compliant, with responsibility for results including costs, methods, and staffing.
