The City of Berkeley is now accepting applications for the position of Health Services Program Specialist! In this role, you will plan and manage a specialized health program. Program-planning activities will include development of procedures for operation and evaluation and fiscal and budgetary administration. You will also liaise with program personnel to assure proper integration of program planning and evaluation with program operations. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from a college or university with major course work in public health, health or social-services related field, or health-related public policy, and two years of experience as a health/social services professional.

One year supervisory experience which has included budget and program development is desirable.

Other requirements: Must be willing to work evenings and weekends and be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. Parks Planning and Design Manager Class Specification

Definition
Under administrative direction, plans, organizes, manages, and directs the activities of the Landscape Architecture Division; serves as a key staff member in the administration, development, and implementation of policies, systems, and procedures to facilitate the implementation of the City’s Park Master Plan; oversees and directs the supervision and activities of citywide tree preservation and landscape development policies; and gives professional advice on landscape matters.

Class Characteristics 
This is a single position management classification reporting to the Community Services Director.  The incumbent has considerable latitude in the application of department policy as it relates to division activities and follows general guidelines or professional and administrative standards in accomplishing assignments; the incumbent is expected to identify policy issues and work with other staff to develop options and recommend solutions.  This classification is distinguished from the Senior Landscape Architect by the latter’s responsibility to manage the staff and activities of one or more sections of the Landscape Architecture Division.

• Administers the tree planting program, including maintenance of the street tree master plan, botanical designation, inspection of plantings, issuance of permits for planting, removal, and pruning.

• Reviews and analyzes federal, state and local landscape and water legislation and its implementation in the City of Fremont.

• Works cooperatively with other team members, receiving and sharing information, soliciting input, identifying operational and interpersonal issues, participating in the development of problem solving solutions.
• Acts as the City's representative in dealing with public and private agencies, groups and individuals concerned with parks and open space, trees, and landscape.
• Conducts park location studies to evaluate park site feasibility and proposed land acquisition and/or development.
• Responds to public requests and complaints regarding landscape development and tree preservation.
• Coordinates the work of the division with that of other departments and divisions.

Education/Experience

Organized into operational teams, Project Hope staff are assigned to specific neighborhoods, where they assist residents to address the conditions and circumstances that exist due to systemic racism such as crime/violence, blight, lack of trust, marginalization, and inadequate services. Development of the required knowledge, skills and abilities is typically obtained through a combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a four-year degree in information systems, computer science or related field and four (4) years of responsible experience developing, designing, and/or maintaining major components of a comprehensive information system including evaluation, analysis and input to the software modules of an Enterprise Resource Planning System or other application system. (Additional applicable experience with applications and systems support, design, and maintenance substitutes for college on a year for year basis.) Incumbents must demonstrate substantial experience in an SAP environment, and/or Electronic Documents Management System, and/or Operations system (such as Trapeze, BDT, ACS) or Construction and CMP solutions.

A VTA employee designated as a "Business Process Owner" and/or "Super User" with four (4) years of experience in that capacity, in addition to performing and leading others in system upgrades and demonstrated technical coursework in SAP or systems used at VTA, meets the minimum qualifications for this classification. Experience with transit/transportation-related applications is desirable.

San Mateo Medical Center is seeking an experienced Surgery Scheduling Specialist for a Full-Time, Extra-help position for the Surgery Department. The Surgery Scheduling Specialist provides technical, complex and specialized administrative support to surgeons and patients scheduled for surgery, which includes interaction with operating room staff and patients; handles multiple competing priorities; interacts with diverse customer groups; handles multiple patient-related tasks such as tracking patient financials to ensure information is correctly entered; and moves patients from the clinic to the operating room, including all pre-operative processes necessary for the patients prior to surgery, pre-op process sheets and clinic schedules, data entry of items into the operative database, financial reconciliation, and post-op order sets, and may have some responsibilities for ordering supplies or equipment.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex medical terminology to a variety of people with varying levels of medical knowledge. In addition, they would possess skills in conflict resolution, and problem solving. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work with challenging patients, and patients who may have a language or communication barrier. This position will require attention to detail, and therefore the ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
 
NOTE: The ability to speak, read and write in fluent English and Spanish is preferred for this position.
 
 Duties for this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Tracking patient financials to be sure they are correctly entered.
• Scheduling patients in the procedure clinic.

These positions would provide outpatient and/or inpatient services physical therapy evaluations and treatments for a variety of orthopedic and neurologic conditions.

Physical Therapists manage patients with a wide range of diagnoses, chronic and acute, and are part of a dynamic treatment team. In addition, Physical Therapists identify patient challenges and develop goals and a care plan with reasonable outcomes for the individual's life/work settings. Daily opportunities are created in this assignment through the variety of illnesses/injuries seen in our patient population.

Physical Therapists work at SMMC as part of a County rehabilitation program, which provides evaluation, education and treatment.
