Scenario: You are a Management Analyst in the City Manager’s Office tasked with researching and analyzing policies relevant to homeless services and mitigation practices.

In March 2024, California passed Proposition 1. Proposition 1 authorizes $6.4 billion in bonds to pay for major projects such as housing for veterans and mental health, drug, and/or alcohol facilities.  Proposition 1 will also shift how revenue from the 1% tax on income above $1 million is spent under the law. Proposition 1 renames the Mental Health Services Act (2004) to the Behavioral Health Services Act and expands its purpose to include substance use disorders, including for persons without a mental illness.

The City of Fremont’s Homelessness Response Team is drafting a Homelessness Response Plan for Fremont. The Team will be presenting the plan to City Council in May 2024 for study and potential adoption.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Camp Maintenance Mechanic (Non-Career Intermittent) in the Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to keep our camps running smoothly by performing both routine and heavy, physical work in the construction, maintenance, repair and cleaning of camp facilities. You'll operate a variety of hand and power tools to perform preventive maintenance and repair.

Our two overnight camps are located near South Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is: Equivalent to graduation from high school, and one (1) year of experience in construction and maintenance.

State of California Drinking Water Treatment Certifications (Grade 1 or 2) desirable. Must possess and maintain a valid California non-commercial (Class C) driver's license, and have a satisfactory driving record. Must possess sufficient strength and stamina to lift and carry objects weighing up to 80 pounds and be able to perform sustained heavy physical labor. Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions and on off-hour shifts in emergency situations.

California Education Code Section 10911.5 requires that all public recreation program employers must fingerprint all persons having direct contact with a minor. The City does not hire persons who have been convicted of felony drug, sexual assault or physical assault crimes.

POSITION

Under general supervision, provides highly responsible administrative support to the City Clerk to assist with the day-to-day operations of the City Clerk’s Office. This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Work schedule is flexible up to 30 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

POSITION

To perform a variety of tasks in the maintenance of City-owned buildings, equipment and facilities.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current temporary/part-time vacancy in our Community Services Department and to create a list for future vacancies.

Candidates who do not currently meet the minimum qualifications for the Facilities Maintenance Worker I position may be considered for an Intern position instead.

Temporary employees work no more than 130 hours per month and 960 hours per fiscal year.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate for this position will have previous facility maintenance experience, although not required. The Ideal Candidate will be able to follow directions, demonstrate good communication skills (orally and in writing), be flexible, have good attendance, a positive attitude and a willingness to take on new tasks as requested.  The ability to speak and understand Spanish is a desirable quality.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

A primary function of this position is janitorial services. Will include set up and cleanup of special events. Prepare simple activity and related reports; maintain inventory and work records as required. Perform other facility maintenance duties as assigned. Work cooperatively with others. WORK HOURS

Senior Manager, Quantitative Analysis and Modeling

The Senior Manager, Quantitative Analysis and Modeling is responsible for organizing, assigning, reviewing and participating in the work of personnel engaged in professional duties related to analysis and modeling, structured product development, portfolio risk management, and integrated resource planning. Duties include:

• Planning, prioritizing, reviewing and participating in the performance of professional analysis and modeling of risk and value around complex transactions and portfolio positions, including structured products, rate analysis and development, and hedging strategies.
• Developing methods and schedules to accomplish assignments, ensuring work is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Developing pricing and calibration models for a variety of products.
• Solving challenging quantitative problems related to setting rates and valuations for structured products.
• Developing Monte-Carlo simulations on a large scale across several variables with relevant coefficients. 
• Performing fast and accurate market risk measurements.
• Conducting complex market and portfolio modeling and analysis of Pioneer’s power supply position to effectively monitor exposure to adverse market changes.

Qualified candidates will possess a knowledge of California energy industry and electric power markets including CAISO, CPUC, CEC, and CARB, energy/financial markets and quantitative investment approaches, advanced computer modeling of power supply system operation and cost analysis and have the ability to perform complex professional analytical work in support of a variety of Pioneer’s product structuring and resource planning activities.

Participates in the removal, repair and replacement of storm drainage pipe. Due to variety of outdoor settings, needs to be able to work in all weather and terrain conditions. Due to 24-hour maintenance needs, needs to be able to work at all times of day and night. Operates light and heavy motorized construction and maintenance equipment including grappler, rollers, VacCon trucks, street sweepers, backhoes, compressors and pneumatic tools. Drives equipment to and from job sites. Loads and unload equipment; inspect equipment. Excavates, backfills, grades and rolls construction and repair sites. Cleans work sites and equipment. Perform preventative maintenance, adjustments and minor repairs on equipment. Cleans equipment. Greases, lubricates and fuels vehicles. Changes backhoe buckets and teeth. Perform various Sanitation tasks including drain inlet cleaning, storm line inspection and street sweeping. The City of Lincoln is accepting applications for the position of Refuse Truck Driver II in the Solid Waste division of the Public Works department. Under general supervision, this position performs the full array of duties in the Solid Waste division, including maintenance, operating collection vehicles and refuse equipment operation. This job classification is represented by the Classified, Local 39 employee group; the probation period is 12 months.

Open positions may be filled as regular/full-time or seasonal/part-time.  Seasonal positions are limited to 999 hours per fiscal year and are unbenefited, and may become regular/full-time positions, dependent upon the future needs of the department.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Refuse Truck Driver II is the journey-level class responsible for a wide variety of maintenance and refuse collection tasks. This classification is distinguished from the next higher classification of Senior Refuse Truck Driver in that the latter performs the more complex assignments and lead responsibilities. 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

This position receives general supervision from the Solid Waste division’s Public Services Supervisor. May exercise technical and functional supervision over assigned staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include but are not limited to the following:

• Performs general maintenance, repair, construction, equipment operation and installation work in refuse collection.
• Operates a variety of collection vehicles and equipment including front, rear and side loaders in the collection and transportation of residential and commercial refuse; drives to landfill site when vehicle is full and unloads material; evaluates and updates assigned routes; cleans, maintains and inspects assigned vehicles; maintains daily logs.
• Demonstrates a full understanding of applicable policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties; may provide training to lower level staff; responds to questions and concerns from the general public; provides information as is appropriate and resolves public service complaints.
• Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies, City management and staff, and the public.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions including wet, hot and cold. The incumbent may use cleaning and lubricating chemicals, pesticides or herbicides which may expose the employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. The nature of the work also requires the incumbent to climb ladders, use power and noise producing tools and equipment, operate hydraulic aerial devices, drive motorized vehicles and heavy equipment, work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions and often work with constant interruptions.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS

WORK SCHEDULE

The positions work up to a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week and may be required to work a regular shift that includes evening and weekend hours. These temporary assignments are limited to 999 hours per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).
