The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Senior Planner! In this role, you will provide lead direction and conduct complex projects in the area of Transportation, Land Use, or Rent Stabilization. The current vacancy is in the Transportation Division of the Public Works Department.

As a Senior Planner in Transportation, you will lead the Vision Zero Program, aiming to eliminate severe injury and fatality traffic crashes by 2028. With the support of an Associate Planner (Vision Zero Program Coordinator), you will be responsible for managing program elements outlined in the Berkeley Vision Zero Action Plan, including administration, interdepartmental and interagency coordination, capital projects, and public awareness initiatives. You'll serve as project manager for major corridor and "quick build" capital projects on the Vision Zero High Injury Streets, and will lead the conceptual design, public engagement, environmental clearance and Berkeley City Council approval of these projects.

In the Land Use Division of the Planning and Development Department, the Senior Planner is responsible for managing complex and large projects, including General Plan updates, plans focused on Berkeley’s Priority Development Areas, Zoning Ordinance amendments, grant-funded projects, and State-mandated reports and projects.

When assigned to the Rent Stabilization Board, the Senior Planner leads projects and programs associated with Berkeley’s Rent Ordinance, which regulates most residential rents in Berkeley, protects tenants against unwarranted evictions, and is intended to maintain affordable housing and preserve community diversity.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this classification is:
Equivalent to graduation from a four year college or university with major coursework in city or regional planning, urban planning, or a field related to the work, and four (4) years of professional planning experience, including two (2) years at a level equivalent to that of the Associate Planner.

Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college coursework on a year-for-year basis.

Must be able to attend evening meetings as required. A valid California driver's license is desirable.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
Within the Community Development Agency, the Program Coordinator in the Planning Division will work under the direction of a Principal Planner to coordinate the daily operations of one or more planning-related programs that assist the County in achieving its Countywide Plan goals and State mandates. Potential programs will include implementation and coordination of the new Short Term Rental program and could include other planning programs. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Are you a bright, energetic, and motivated administrative professional with a passion for working in a team environment and serving the public?  The City of Orinda seeks an experienced Administrative Assistant to provide high-quality administrative and Clerk support in our administrative offices at City Hall.  This position serves as the first point of contact for City visitors, helping to direct community members to appropriate departments.

Senior Transportation Planner (New Position)

The Senior Transportation Planner will focus on managing projects and programs that support sustainable transportation opportunities for the Town while addressing and improving mobility, safety, environmental, social, and economic conditions around transportation. The selected candidate will support the Town’s ongoing initiatives around transportation planning, including identifying grant programs and managing transportation planning related projects.  The Senior Transportation Planner will assist in the review of transportation studies and develop and implement policies related to Transportation Demand Management and Vehicle Miles Traveled in private developments.  They will manage parking programs and implement the Town’s Safe Routes to School Program. About the Department
The Parks and Public Works Department (PPW) is responsible for the maintenance and improvements of the Town's public parks, facilities, streets, and other infrastructure.  Our goal is to efficiently provide residents, businesses, and visitors with the highest quality service possible, with dedication and professionalism.  The Department has five service areas: Engineering, Capital Improvement, Streets and Signals, Parks, and Environmental Services. The Department also collaborates with all Town departments, and external partners and stakeholders.
 

• Engineering Services: The Engineering team provides services in the areas of encroachment permits and permitting and inspection of other work in the public right of way, including situations where new developments need to provide improvements in the right of way.  
   
• Capital Improvement: The Capital Improvement team develops and constructs capital projects across all Town assets, including improvements to roads, streetlights, parks, and Town buildings. See the annual capital budget for a list of current capital projects.
   
• Streets and Signals: The Streets and Signals team maintains the Town’s roadways, signs, and traffic signals. Traffic plays a big part in this team’s daily work as they seek to meet the needs of the community.  This includes traffic on major streets as well as on neighborhood streets where traffic calming can be a solution.
   
• Park Services: The Park Services team maintains the Town’s parks, trails, open spaces, facility grounds, median islands, parking lot landscaping, downtown planters, and the urban forest as well as administering park use fees and reservations.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in transportation planning, city and regional planning, urban studies, civil engineering, or closely related field, and five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in transportation development programs including two (2) years of project management.  A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university is desirable.
 
License and Certification:

• A California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment.
• Possession of a Certificate of Registration as Professional Transportation Planner or Professional Engineer in the State of California, or certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners is highly desirable.

THE POSITION

Tri-City Mental Health Authority is currently hiring to fill two (2) full-time vacancies for the position of Clinical Therapist I/II within the Mobile Crisis Care Program (MCCP). Tri-City’s MCCP is a 24/7 mobile crisis response team with shifts that may include evenings, weekends, daytime hours, and holidays. Weekend and night shifts will be entitled to Shift Differential Pay of $2.50 per hour on weekdays (Monday through Friday) and $3.50 per hour on weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Holiday shifts will be entitled to Holiday Pay.

• Perform field-based and telephone emergency mental health evaluations and crisis stabilization in accordance with agency procedure;

 

• Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services to individuals, groups, and families;

 

• Identify treatment needs and make appropriate referrals for necessary services;

 

• Assist clients and relatives with understanding behavioral health problems and their reaction to them;

 

• Work on a multidisciplinary team for crisis response.

Real Property/Engineering & Construction (shared)

In Real Property you will assist with title/escrow transactions, recording documents, database management, and interfacing with the Counties on real estate matters.

The ideal candidate will assist with meeting scheduling/coordination/note taking, summary preparation, project research and filing, database administration/management, public noticing requirements, bidding and contracting process, presentation materials, and interfacing with a variety of stakeholders, including consultants/contractors, the Counties (e.g. official document filings), and members of the public.

Work Environment:  In addition to working in an office environment, the Administrative Assistant in this position may occasionally work evenings or weekends and may occasionally accompany Midpen staff to an open space preserve, traversing uneven terrain. Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work environment for this position.  Our administrative office is in Los Altos, California.

Education and Experience:  We realize your time is valuable, so please apply only if you have at least the required minimum qualifications outlined here: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: 

• equivalent to the completion of twelfth (12th) grade and
• three (3) years of progressively responsible general office experience. 
• applicants should have experience in Microsoft Office including Outlook scheduling, Word, PowerPoint, mid-level Excel spreadsheet, and Adobe Acrobat editing. 
• a Bachelor’s degree and public sector experience are a plus.

Licenses & Certifications Required:   Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
