The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Criminal Records Supervisor.

The Position

Under direction of the Criminal Records Manager, the incumbent will supervise the maintenance of criminal records and related activities in the Sheriff's Records Bureau and provide difficult or specialized criminal records office support. There are four supervisors within the Records Bureau that oversee staff on: day shifts, swing shifts, night shifts, and at substations.

There is currently one full-time Criminal Records Supervisor vacancy in the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. The individual selected for this position will be assigned to the graveyard/night shift. The approximate working hours for the graveyard shift are 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.; however, schedules in the Criminal Records Bureau are flexible and can be changed depending upon the needs of the Sheriff’s Office.

THE DEPARTMENT

The Information Systems and Technology Division is responsible for the City's network infrastructure, cybersecurity, Help Desk support, and daily IT operations. The division supports a full-service city that includes City Administration, Police, Fire, Planning, Public Works, Parks, Beaches, and Recreation departments.

During COVID-19, the division successfully transformed the City into a remote workforce by rapidly deploying laptops, hotspots, VPN, and VoIP soft phones to staff. In addition, the City migrated to Office 365, launched an Intranet using SharePoint and deployed Microsoft Teams to improve communications. Many other successful projects have been completed in recent years, such as: Software-Defined Wide-Area Network (SD-WAN), Public Works Asset Management System, Public Records Act Request Portal, Document Management System migration, Police vehicle dashcam/mobile device terminal refresh, DNS records migration, addition of pacifica.gov e-mail addresses, and many others.

THE POSITION

This is a full-time, professional level position that requires significant administrative, analytical, and technical skills. This position serves as a technical leader, providing complex analytical support.

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

• Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and monitor physical and virtual network and server infrastructure including hardware, software, real-time monitoring tools, peripherals, and devices ensuring effective performance and proper integration of components and systems with existing architecture; assist in infrastructure changes and upgrades to limit interrupted services.
• Administer automated deployment of software and updates over the network.
• Monitor and maintain security control of City network and server infrastructure; configure and monitor security features and firewall rules; verify and ensure proper user accessibility; identify and address vulnerabilities; research, recommend, and apply security updates as needed.

The City of San Jose's Department of Parks, Recreation & Neighborhood Services (PRNS) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior Analyst for BeautifySJ in the Community Services Division of PRNS.

The BeautifySJ is a blight reduction, neighborhood beautification, and encampment management program within the Community Services Division of the Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services Department. BeautifySJ Programs include, the Graffiti Removal Program, Illegal Dumping Program, Neighborhood Dumpster Day Program, Neighborhood Litter Program, Recreational Vehicle Pollution Prevention Program, Encampment Trash Removal Program, Encampment Abatement Program, Clean Gateways, and Cash for Trash Program. The County of San Mateo Parks Department is seeking an experienced Park Ranger II to provide a variety of public services to preserve, protect, and enhance the natural, historical, recreational and educational resources of the County. Under supervision, Park Ranger II are responsible for maintaining trails and picnic areas, camping and boating facilities; performing facility maintenance; assisting the public in taking full advantage of the facilities and grounds; and assisting with interpretive and recreational programs. Incumbents also supervise temporary employees and provide guidance and training to staff.

The ideal candidate will have:

• At least two years of experience in park management, forestry, natural resource conservation, law enforcement, construction, emergency response or a closely related field.
• Practical experience in trail building and maintenance; facility cleaning and maintenance; customer service; working with volunteers; handling complaints; performing First Aid, CPR, and other safety procedures; interpreting and enforcing laws, rules and regulations; and performing basic construction and carpentry work.

The incumbent in this position will be part of a high performing office of 11 employees and will report to the Director and Assistant Director of OER. OER's duties and responsibilities impact every department within the City and many assignments have visibility among senior and executive staff within the Administration.

• Overseeing classification analysis assigned to staff as part of the labor negotiation process;
• Participating in various aspects of labor negotiations, including attending and/or leading labor negotiation sessions, drafting proposals/correspondence, and overseeing cost analysis of proposals of varying complexity;
• Participating in labor-management committee meetings;
• Responding to PERB complaints; and
• Responding to information requests from the City's bargaining units during and outside of the labor negotiation process.

Employee Relations:

• Consulting with and advising OER staff on employee performance and conduct matters;
• Developing, revising, and interpreting employee-related policies;
• Giving oral presentations to small and large groups of employees and supervisors on employee relations issues;
• Conducting investigations involving potential employee misconduct, writing investigative reports, and assisting departments with the disciplinary process as needed; and
• Administration of the City's reasonable accommodation program.

Retirement-Related Projects:

• Managing retirement board governance issues;
• Serving as the liaison to the Federated Retirement Plan and the Police and Fire Department Retirement Plan;
• Serving as a resource for the Office of Retirement Services as needed; and
• Addressing any issues that may require the City to meet and confer with the City's bargaining units.
