THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael Library & Recreation Department, Child Care Division, is accepting applications for Child Care Instructor II to work in our School-Age Programs at Mary Silveira and Vallecito Children’s Centers.  Under the supervision of the Child Care Director, the Child Care Instructor II will provide developmental care and supervision to children enrolled in the childcare program; implement age-appropriate curriculum for children; establish and maintain supportive relationships with children and parents.  Incumbents in this position assume primary responsibility for planning, scheduling, and organizing curriculum and other activities for childcare participants.  In the absence of the Child Care Director, the Child Care Instructor II may assume those duties.

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):      

• Plan, implement and supervise enrichment and recreation-based programs.
• Develop age-appropriate curriculum and activities to stimulate children’s cognitive skills, abilities, and development.
• Evaluate needs of children, staff, and site to maintain a safe and healthy environment for children and staff.

• Supervise and coordinate the work of subordinate childcare staff.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

The Administrative Assistant is the journey level in the Administrative Assistant series, in which employees are assigned the full scope of duties in an assigned department with only occasional instruction or assistance as unusual or unique situations arise. Incumbents perform a full range of administrative support duties, including organizing and coordinating workload; preparing reports; coordinating and assisting with the development of technical documents; and explaining Town ordinances, all requiring considerable department/program knowledge. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs a wide variety of routine to complex office and administrative tasks and duties in support of a department director and department activities, including organizing and coordinating work; sets priorities and meets deadlines.
• Maintains liaison between the Town Manager and department staff, other Town staff, officials and staff of other agencies to obtain and relay information and coordinate activities.

 PART TIME RECREATION SPECIALIST I/II

This position will primarily be assigned to front desk reception and facility assistance for the Recreation Center.

The Position

The Police Public Service Assistant (PSA) III is assigned to the Police Department’s Crime Lab and provides support to the Forensic Specialists and Crime Scene Investigators during operations in the Crime Lab. The Police Public Service Assistant III position requires excellent customer service and communication skills.

Examples of job duties include:
