The Information Technology Analyst is responsible for performing a variety of duties in support of information technology operations including researching, configuring, installing, operating, monitoring, repairing, and maintaining hardware and software for computer workstations, mobile computers, mobile phones, telephone systems, and other related equipment and programs. Duties include:

• Maintaining and updating integrated systems; designing and implementing enhancements and revised functions developing various integrated solutions for database functions; documenting system changes.

• Installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting, and repairing personal computers, laptops, mobile computers, computer components, software, and peripheral devices; maintaining, installing, and upgrading file servers and other network hardware.

• Providing information system user support; responding to questions and inquiries on various hardware and software issues; investigating user problems; identifying source of problem; determining possible solutions and implementing and testing solutions.

• Testing, diagnosing, and repairing computer systems and peripheral equipment including printers, modems, and network devices; troubleshooting equipment to ensure functional operation.

• Evaluating new hardware, software and related equipment to identify modifications and enhancements for assigned systems.

• Assuring functionality, compatibility and stability of assigned systems; monitoring resources, updating and upgrading the software and operating system, and resolving downtime and connectivity issues.

• Maintaining and updating internet site; creating web pages and developing basic intranet and internet upgrades and solutions; analyzing website use and recommends solutions.

• Installing configuring and troubleshooting hardware and software applications and equipment.

• Assisting in the maintenance of telephone systems; completing moves, adds, and changes; diagnosing and resolving phone system issues.

• Testing and troubleshooting local area networks (LAN) as necessary.

• Assisting in developing training or conducts training in computer systems and software as needed.

The Position

The Retirement Technology Officer will have full programmatic responsibility for all complex technology and automation functions in SamCERA. They will plan, organize, review, and direct all information technology functions and activities within SamCERA; develop and implement short- and long-range automation tactics and strategies; develop standards and policies; and train and direct assigned personnel.

This position is distinguished from other County information technology manager positions by its full responsibility for multiple technologies utilized in SamCERA and will exercise direct supervision over technical employees. The Retirement Technology Officer will receive general direction from the Assistant Executive Officer.

For additional information visit .The San José Fire Department is recruiting for two (2) Hazardous Materials Inspectors positions in the Bureau of Fire Prevention Division. Hazardous Materials Inspectors perform annual inspections to verify compliance with the California Fire Code, San José Municipal Code, and applicable standards at facilities that use, store, and handle hazardous materials within San Jose. Inspectors evaluate Hazardous Materials Management Plans, closure plans, and hazardous materials system installation plans during the facility inspection process. Facility chemical inventory submittals are evaluated for chemical classification and quantity range calculations. Experienced inspectors may be assigned to participate in installation plan reviews and inspections for the Hazardous Materials Development Services group. Hazardous Materials inspectors routinely provide crossover services as required for backup and customer service needs. Inspectors are cross-trained for customer service enhancement, as needed.

Duties for this position include, but may not be limited to:

• Knowledge of principles and practices of chemistry, biology, physics, industrial hygiene, or geology as applied to the management of hazardous materials, hazardous wastes, and industrial wastes.
• Knowledge of quality assurance programs and procedures, sampling techniques, statistical analysis, laboratory equipment, and its uses.
• Knowledge of methods of inspection.
• Ability to prepare routine reports.
• Evaluation of applicable codes and standards for compliance determination
• Customer education and code enforcement regarding applicable codes and standards.

Salary range for this classification is:
Hazardous Materials Inspector I: $102,844.56 - $124,924.80 annually.
Hazardous Materials Inspector II: $113,371.44 - $137,744.88 annually.

This range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.

About the Position

The City of San Carlos is hiring for a Building Inspector I. This is the entry level position in the Building Inspector series. Under direction from the Building Official or designated appointee, the Building Inspector I inspects buildings being constructed, altered, or repaired; Determines conformance with approved plans, adopted codes, zoning laws, statutes and ordinances; Plan checks residential and less complicated commercial projects; Responds to questions from the public at the counter and through other forms of communication; Investigates complaints and prepares notices and reports; Receives applications and issues permits as directed; Maintains and improves computer permitting and record maintenance, and performs other work as required.

The Building Inspector I level is distinguished from the Building Inspector II level due to the level of experience in the field of building inspection and the level of job knowledge.  This is a generalist class wherein incumbents are charged with conducting inspections in the less complicated phases of building construction and plan review.

Reports to the Building Official or designated appointee.

Essential Duties

• Inspects buildings and structures in various stages of progress using approved plans and codes to determine conformance.
• Discusses conformance problems with contractors and permit holders and assists them by indicating needed changes and possible modifications to bring the construction into conformity.
• Issues Stop Work Notices in situations where work is performed without benefit of a permit. 
• Follows a predetermined schedule of inspections in an assigned area and prepares reports of inspections made.  Schedules and coordinates field operations at request of Building Official.
• Maintains records of inspections made and actions taken. 
• Prepares reports of deficiencies with respect to structural stability, sanitation, electrical, adequacy of heating and ventilating facilities, their use, and occupancy.  Submits reports to the Building Official for review.
• Accepts completed permit applications for review.
• Logs applications and updates information in the Building Department computer system.
• Reviews residential and less complicated commercial plans for conformance to adopted codes.
• Prepares plan check comments and correspondence with applicants.  Prepares permit fees and issues permits as directed.
• Responds to questions and information requests from the public regarding building codes, and status of applications or permits.
• Receives and investigates building complaints from the public.
• Investigates NPDES complaints from the public or staff as directed and prepares reports and posts necessary notices as directed by the Building Official.
• Maintains the designated permitting software selected by the City.  Suggests improvements to the overall efficiency of the system.  Relays the use of the system to other members of the Building Division staff and assists them in its use. 

This position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in construction, repairs, and installations related to energy conservation, weatherization, and housing rehabilitation services at the Glenn County Community Action Department.  The Housing Rehabilitation Worker III may exercise lead supervision over lower level positions and contract employees. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week. This recruitment may be used to establish a list to fill future vacancies for the next twelve (12) months.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Performs a variety of housing rehabilitation and weatherization duties in the maintenance and repair; performs a variety of janitorial, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, blower door testing, and dwelling assessment.
• Weatherizes dwellings and performs energy conservation measures to include weather striping of doors, window repair, installation of, furnace filters, carbon dioxide detectors, caulking, cooler covers, sheetrock, thresholds, doors, windows, etc.
• Installs siding, wood stoves, solar and evaporative coolers; repair rooms and plumbing, installs energy saving devices such as gaskets on faucets, showerheads, and aerators.
• Assists in coordinating housing rehabilitation activities with other County departments, divisions, sections, and outside agencies.
• Meets with owners to select contractor to perform proposed housing rehabilitation repairs and to discuss proposed work.
• Receives bids and checks for changes on bid forms to comply with bidding requirements; prepares cost estimates for materials; requisitions necessary supplies and materials.

This position will focus on long-range planning while existing staff focuses on continuity within current planning. Examples of Duties:

Qualifications:

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in city, urban, or environmental planning, architecture, or a field related to the area of assignment, and seven years of planning-related experience, which must have included two years of project management or supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above. Master’s degree preferred.
• Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners.
• At the option of the appointing authority or the Town, persons hired into this class may be required either to possess at entry or obtain within specified time limits, designated licenses, professional registration, certification, or specialized education and training related to the area of assignment. Must possess and maintain a valid California class C driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
