The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for Lifeguards for our fantastic swim lessons and aquatic programs at the Silliman Activity & Family Aquatic Center. We are looking for positive, patient, motivated, self-driven individuals that have a passion for working with children and wish to make a difference! Those that are successful in the application review will be invited to attend an in-person interview. Please note that this position requires you to work in an indoor aquatic environment subject to warm/humid temperatures.

• Applicants should be able to work at least 12-20 hours September through April, including weekends and holidays, with mandatory trainings.

• Must be flexible regarding scheduling as it is based on business demands to include some weekend and holiday availability. We are flexible around school schedules.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under direct supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator, Lifeguards will ensure the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies
• Maintaining constant surveillance of patrons in the facility
• Acting immediately and appropriately to ensure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency/Providing emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services
• Performing various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility
• Having a thorough knowledge of rescue techniques

Role description

Under general supervision, assists in analyzing, planning, implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting and enhancing large complex systems or networks consisting of a combination that may include mainframes, mini-computers, personal computers, mobile devices, LANS, WANs, servers, data storage and the physical and logical components that integrate these systems together as an enterprise networking backbone. 

The 1042 Security Engineer is the journey level position in the Engineer series. The class is distinguished from the Senior level by the complexity of the tasks, projects or duties assigned, and is more independent than the Assistant level. This classification performs a wide range of complex analytical, design, planning, implementation, enhancement and problem resolution tasks on large complex systems and networks. Works within a framework of established procedures and interprets policies, procedures and guidelines. This level may formulate recommendations consistent with directives, policies, standards and regulations. Incumbents require only occasional instruction or assistance. Work is reviewed upon completion and for overall results. Serves as a technical architect and systems integrator for large complex systems or networks, with a focus on securing vulnerabilities and reducing risk of system and/or asset compromises.

Essential Duties:
 

1. Determine requirements for the development environment and / or enhancement for large complex systems that serve HSA’s programs. May research and conduct feasibility studies on new technologies.
2. Design, plan, integrate, test, implement, document and enhance large complex systems. This may involve the analysis, coding (.NET C#, Cold Fusion), web application design, database design, and evaluation of systems software, hardware and communications strategies.
3. Perform systems integration for interoperability over dissimilar platforms and technologies. This may involve the integration of various protocols and systems software.
4. Determine the proper installation parameters for software for smooth integration and efficiency in relation to the enterprise system and network.
5. Write code to customize large systems software which may involve specialized programming languages.
6. Read and understand requirements documentation and other documentation in order to write code to implement the required features for application systems.
7. Analyze, detect, identify and correct complex systems software or hardware deficiencies. Analyze, research and debug program logic and systems; modify program logic; analyze service requests for system changes or new requirements to determine the most effective approach and the appropriate staff time required to achieve the needed modification.
8. Provide emergency technical support for application issues to ensure system availability and data integrity. May provide on-call support to ensure rapid recovery from software or hardware problems for mission-critical systems and networks.
9. Act as the liaison between vendors, technical support hot-lines and departments to resolve complex systems. Coordinate and implement corrective measures; this may involve site visits, telephone assistance, remote systems and participation in technical committees.
10. Facilitate the demonstration and training of staff in the use of new hardware or software products.
11. Document procedures and troubleshooting techniques related to systems software and hardware; develop technical documentation and review documentation prior to general distribution.
12. Plan, develop and implement backup and recovery procedures for large systems.
13. Communicate with managers regarding system performance and operational issues. Suggest improvements to management.
14. Research and test new software technologies; report results; recommend software purchases. Learn and implement the new technologies that are brought in. Coordinate and work with vendors when needed. 
15. Attend meetings, workshops, and demonstrations; perform duties and responsibilities as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Manage and assist with power plant improvement projects, performance monitoring, and other initiatives. Conduct feasibility analysis, and justification, and prepare plans, and budgets.
Lead or assist with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to investigate incidents that cause “forced outages”, equipment malfunctions, failures, or performance degradation at plants.
Provide administrative and end-user support for NCPA’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Plant Information (PI Historian). Ensure that users are properly trained and the application is used in an optimal fashion. 
Support compliance with NERC/WECC reliability standards.  Assist in the preparation, review, collection, and organization of compliance evidence and associated procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education 
For all levels, the qualified candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited college or university with a focus on Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

Under direct supervision, the Police Academy Recruit attends a basic Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified training academy to obtain the basic skills and fitness level necessary for performance of Police Officer duties.  This position requires a thorough background investigation, voice stress analysis examination, psychological assessment, and a medical exam prior to appointment. This is the non-sworn, entry-level classification in the Police Officer series. THE POSITION:  This is a trainee level classification which provides transition into the position of Police Officer.  A Police Officer Trainee is hired into this civilian position for the period prior to and during the time they are assigned to a Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified police academy.  The police academy has an expected duration of approximately 6 months.  Upon successful completion of training at an academy and upon the availability of a Police Officer position, Police Officer Trainees are sworn in and appointed to the classification of Police Officer.  The Police Officer Trainee is represented by SEIU Local 1021 and benefits are limited to those of a civilian employee.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Police Officer performs a variety of law enforcement, crime prevention, and public service duties; controls traffic flow, enforces State and local traffic regulations; and performs additional related tasks as assigned. This position will serve the public in traffic enforcement, patrol operations, and community-oriented policing assignments. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The salary range for this position ranges from $109,308.45 up to $132,865.10 annually. Placement within the range will be DOE. This is a full-time, non-exempt position represented by the Los Altos Peace Officer’s Association.
