The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Assistant Aquatics Coordinator in the Parks, Recreation & Waterfront Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to assist in planning, directing and implementing water sports and aquatics center activities. Programs include swim lessons, team aquatics and classes for all ages and experience levels.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from high school and four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in recreation or aquatics program planning, coordination or leadership which included one (1) year of lead experience in the principles and techniques of effective supervision. College level coursework in recreation, physical education or closely related field may be substituted for the experience on a year for year basis.

Other requirements include:

• American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid certification
• American Red Cross Title 22 Certification
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification
• Valid California Driver's License

Desirable within six months of appointment: American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certificate, Certified Pool Operator certificate.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Administrative Analyst I

The Administrative Analyst I is the entry-level class in the Administrative Analyst series that allows the incumbent to develop journey level knowledge and abilities. Initially, under immediate supervision, incumbents perform the more routine and less complex support assignments while learning City policies and procedures. As experience is gained, there is greater independence of action within established guidelines. This classification is alternatively staffed with Administrative Analyst II and incumbents may advance to the higher-level after gaining experience and demonstrating a level of proficiency that meets the qualifications of the higher-level class.

Administrative Analyst II

The Administrative Analyst II is the full professional level class in which the incumbent is expected to independently perform the full scope of administrative analysis and research on new and current program activities as assigned.  Take on additional duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

Administrative Analyst I

Receives immediate supervision from the department head or designee. May exercise functional and technical supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include but are not limited to the following:

• Performs professional administrative, analytical and technical duties in providing staff assistance to a City department.
• Coordinates department budget, analysis and administration; monitors expenditures.

• Coordinates grant services, including writing, scheduling, seeking out, and identifying grants and assigning staff to follow up with the application process as necessary.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading written reports and work-related documents. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. Additionally, the incumbent in this position may work in all weather conditions including wet, hot and cold. The need to lift, drag and push files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required.

About the Position

Positions in this classification perform work in the organization and implementation of the San Carlos Youth Center After School Drop-In Program and Athletics Programs. Performs thorough and thoughtful customer service with community members.

The Program Coordinator classification is the top-level position in the Recreation Leader Series.  Advancement from Recreation Leader Level II to Program Coordinator requires 500 hours of work experience at Recreation Leader Level II, or equivalent experience.

May provide functional supervision to a Recreation Leader I or II as assigned.  Receives general supervision from full-time Recreation Department staff members.

Work schedule: Monday-Friday between 1:00pm – 9:00pm, may vary as needed. This classification works 20 to 30 hours per week as assigned.

Essential Duties

• Plans, organizes, coordinates and directs specialized recreation programs for primarily youth and athletics as assigned.

DUTIES

Office Support: Provide general administrative support such as ordering office supplies, answering phones and emails, preparing documents, maintaining information on website, processing the mail, interacting with vendors and visitors, coordinating office maintenance, and researching and making recommendations for needed services.

Meeting Support: Post meeting information on the website, conduct quorum checks, assist in setting up for two monthly morning meetings, prepare minutes, coordinate follow-up action as needed and assist with occasional community events.
Document Management: Organize, track, and maintain physical and electronic files, including meeting agendas and packets, resolutions, key agency documents, employee information, etc. Digitize and organize archived files.

Billing: Manage and track incoming invoices, apply finance codes to invoices and checks, collaborate with contract accountant and finance staff, manage the agency credit card, and oversee billing related to specific programs. THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for an individual to serve as a Bilingual Clinical Therapist I/II for the Adult Outpatient Program (AOP). The Clinical Therapist I/II will appeal to individuals who are inspired by challenges and opportunities presented in working with an engaged and active community with moderate to severe behavioral health clients. The Clinical Therapist will report to a Clinical Supervisor.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Provides individual, group, and family interventions, rehabilitation, and treatment services including counseling, therapy, case management, and referral and linkage to community services to a variety of clients including high acuity clients.

• Within scope of authority, assesses, diagnoses, and treats a variety of clients with mental health disorders; collaborates with clients and creates individualized treatments plans according to client’s needs and circumstances.

• Initiates and conducts individual, group, and family counseling and biopsychosocial therapy sessions utilizing a variety of techniques and modalities; provides case management services in the office and in the field.

• Performs routine and emergency intake evaluations according to Authority procedure; completes appropriate forms and documents relating to the intake process; and prepares medical and demographic case history for use in diagnosis.

• Assists clients and family members in understanding behavioral health diagnosis, contributing factors/causes, effects, prognosis, rehabilitation, and treatment.

• Works with clients to address stressors and barriers to treatment and/or social functioning; identifies and focuses on client strengths and personal resources to effectively engage and treat client.
