Summary
Under general supervision, performs a variety of complex skilled irrigation, grounds mainten­ance and landscape tasks in accordance with District policies and procedures; works indepen­dently and exercises judgment; ensures daily workload is carried out through individual and cooperative efforts; performs preventive maintenance of District-owned properties; and performs related duties as assigned.

• Performs a variety of technical duties to ensure accurate and timely data entry and processing of various financial records; documents financial transactions in general ledger accounts; reconciles bank, accounting and payroll data; analyzes journal
• Develops and implements plans for daily/regularly-scheduled park irrigation maintenance; installs, repairs and maintains irrigation equipment, as necessary.
• Establishes water budgets for each park facility; audits and calculates park/facility water usage, analyzes and interprets data and provides monthly reports.
• Investigates and develops new methods and/or improvements to existing methods that result in effective management and conservation strategies of limited water resources.
• Evaluates and makes recommendations, provides technical expertise to District staff, and provides reports to supervisor regarding water conservation objectives.
• Provides irrigation/water management training to staff.
• Assists in the design and makes water usage/conservation recommendations for new parks/ rehabilitation projects.
• Assists in seeking grants for water efficiency devices.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• May be required to drive District or personal vehicle.
• May provide technical work guidance to Groundskeepers, contractors or temporary staff; participates in prioritizing irrigation/maintenance/water conservation workload and monitoring work of other employees for completeness, accuracy and conformance with departmental standards; provides information, instruction and training on work processes, proper uses of equipment, and safe work practices.
• Participates during disasters or when emergency response is needed

Education/Experience: A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be: graduation from high school or GED equivalent and two years of pertinent experience in installing and maintaining landscape irrigation systems; or an equiva­lent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations to other employees and visitors.

Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Certificates and Licenses:  

• Valid California driver’s license with a good driving record and current automobile insurance.

The Judicial Council of California is accepting applications for the position of Fiscal Supervisor for Budget Services.   

The Fiscal Supervisor over the Court Budget Unit (CBU) in the Budget Services office plans, organizes, supervises, reviews, and evaluates the work of assigned staff responsible to support all aspects of budget development and implementation for the 58 trial courts. The Supervisor oversees the development of allocations and distribution of $3 billion annually to the trial courts and manages other budgetary processes and programs that support court operations. The Supervisor oversees the preparation of trial court financial documents and required reporting; provides technical fiscal assistance to the courts; reviews funding requests to ensure compliance with statute, budget authority, and Judicial Council policy; and related assignments for court leadership, Budget Services management, and the Judicial Council’s Executive Office. San Mateo County Health's Public Health, Policy and Planning Division has exciting field-based opportunities for well-qualified and motivated Nurse Practitioners to provide both primary and urgent care to adults from vulnerable populations within our community—people experiencing homelessness and/or in shelters, monolingual Spanish speakers and other new immigrants, and those without insurance or underinsured. These services are provided through various Mobile Clinic modalities and venues, including but not limited to street medicine, shelter medicine, and the mobile coach. We are looking for collaborative Nurse Practitioners to work in and lead various multidisciplinary service teams in the field to provide comprehensive, low-threshold, client-centered care and engagement.

Teams are staffed by a Nurse Practitioner (NP), Psychiatrist, Medical Services Assistant, AOD Case Manager, and Patient Services Assistants. These teams work closely with our community partners from the Human Services Agency and community-based organizations who locate and identify clients needing medical and/or mental health services, as well as provide additional health, housing, and social services in the field.

Under general supervision, Nurse Practitioners provide urgent care and primary health care services such as physical examinations, chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes and hypertension), and referrals/linkages to specialty clinics as appropriate.

Currently, Public Health Clinics has one full-time, regular, 40-hour-per-week vacancy for a bilingual Spanish Nurse Practitioner and two 40-hour-per-week, Limited-Term Nurse Practitioner vacancies, requiring flexible schedules and field-based work at different locations. Sixty-five percent of the NP’s time will be in the field, with the remainder spent in the office documenting notes, placing orders, and coordinating with other staff as needed.

• Build relationships with community partners to improve health outcomes and expand services.

• Counsel families regarding health maintenance and care.

• Coordinate referrals to other health or social agencies.

• Maintain accurate records of assessments, follow-ups, and evaluations.

• Supervise subordinate health workers and participate in meetings.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.

• Education: Completion of an advanced nursing degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), with emphasis in a Nurse Practitioner specialty area.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Deputy Director will oversee department-wide administrative operations and strategic initiatives including organizational planning, program performance, budget development, financial accounting, procurement, contracting, human resources, recruitment, and other administrative functions. This role will supervise three staff members in the Operations Division and closely collaborate with other staff to achieve the Commission’s strategic goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Advanced Practice Provider in the Health, Housing & Community Services Department! In this role, you will make assessments, provide treatment based on a patient's physical and psychosocial condition, provide patient counseling and guidance in the maintenance of health and the prevention of illness; and perform other related work as required.

In the Public Health Division, the Advanced Practice Provider provides health care at the Berkeley High School Health Center (BHSHC) and the City of Berkeley's Public Health Clinic. This position has overall responsibility for the delivery of clinical care and supports other clinical staff.

This is an hourly, part-time position working up to 19 hours per week. It is not a benefited position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is:

• Equivalent to graduation from a Physician Assistant program from an accredited institution approved by the Physician Assistant Board of California (PAB) and one year of clinical experience in a health-related occupation; OR

San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) is seeking an experienced Patient Services Specialist (PSS) - Extra-Help.
 
The successful hire will support the clinical team with all registration, eligibility, enrollment, authorization, other administrative tasks, and Admission, Discharge, and Transfer (ADT) activities for SMMC. The PSS serves as the ambassador for SMMC to validate information and educate our patients and guests with the financial process upon arrival to the facility. The PSS verifies all demographic information, validates eligibility, obtain authorizations, collects co-payments, assist with all payor notifications and communication, and enroll patients if needed. The hire will be expected to work holidays and rotating weekends, if needed, to support department needs.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex medical terminology and medical insurance requirements to individuals with varying levels of medical knowledge. Additionally, they should have strong skills in conflict resolution and problem-solving.

The ideal candidate will also be able to collaborate effectively with the clinical team, work with challenging patients, and assist those who may have language or communication barriers. This position requires keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task. Furthermore, the ideal candidate must be flexible and available for various shifts throughout the week.

NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Extra-help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week. Extra help employees shall not exceed 1,040 hours of work per fiscal year. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment.

 

Examples Of Duties

• Perform difficult, complex, technical, and/or specialized patient services office support and business office support work, which may require the exercise of independent judgment, the application of technical skills, and/or a knowledge of detailed or specialized activities related to the area to which assigned.
• Research and assemble information from a variety of sources for the completion of forms or the preparation of reports; make arithmetic or statistical calculations related to the billing for patient medical services.
• Provide information to the public or to County staff regarding fees, insurance coverages, etc., that requires the use of judgment and the application and interpretation of policies, rules or procedures.
• Interview patients to provide information and obtain necessary financial responsibility and personal data.
• Collect co-payments, assist with payor and recodes accounts if needed.
• Type varied materials/processes using a computer; proofread and check such materials for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with departmental policies and regulations.
• Enter and retrieve data and prepare reports using an on-line or personal computer system; review such reports for accuracy and make corrections as required.
• Oversee and personally perform a variety of office administrative details such as ordering supplies, arranging for the repair of equipment, transmitting information, and keeping reference material up to date.
• May train others in work procedures or direct the work of others on a project or relief basis.
• Check the Patient Access work queues daily to identify accounts that may need immediate attention and resolve them appropriately. 
• To be willing and able to work holidays, if needed, to support the department needs.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge of:

• Medical terminology as related to patient services support work.
• Policies and procedures related to patient services office support and hospital or clinic business office activities.
• Office administrative practices and procedures, including filing and the operation of standard office equipment.
• Basic business data processing principles and the use of word processing or computing equipment.
• Proper form for typed materials.
• Business arithmetic, including percentages and decimals.
• Correct English usage, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
• Record keeping principles and procedures.

• Perform technical, specialized, complex or difficult patient services office support work.
• Organize, prioritize and coordinate work activities.
• Read, interpret and apply rules, policies and procedures.
• Organize, research and maintain patient and general office files.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
• Compose routine correspondence from brief instructions.
• Make arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy.

• One year of journey level office support experience in a patient-services setting.

The Department

The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships; engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem-solving; and leveraging financial and volunteer resources.

The Position

The Multipurpose Senior Service Program (MSSP) Case Manager will perform professional and clinical social work tasks and duties for older adults living with complex medical conditions to assist them to obtain optimum health, financial, and/or social services. As a member of the Human Services Department, this position reports to a Clinical Supervisor in the Aging and Family Services Division.

This is a regular, part-time position (32 hours/week) and will receive pro-rated benefits.

Examples of Job Duties

• Manage a caseload of 28-32 clients comprised of older individuals with complex medical conditions.
• Conduct comprehensive client assessments and develop and monitor service plan.
• Collaborate with team members, Human Services programs, and community agencies.
• Conduct home visits and provide other community interventions.
• Conduct inter-agency and/or family conferences.
• Advocate for clients in accessing services.
• Monitor services provided for each client.
• Maintain timely electronic documentation of services, reporting, and billing.
• Participate in peer chart audits and outside audit preparation.
• Prepare and present training, outreach, and educational sessions and materials.

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, participate and lead a crew in operating grounds equipment; perform maintenance, landscaping and gardening work on school grounds, fields and assigned areas.
