THE POSITION

Perform professional civil engineering work in the planning, design, technical investigation, and construction of projects in public works, transportation, capital improvements, and structural engineering. An example of duties include:

• Participates in the preparation of plans and specifications for the construction of streets, storm drains, street lighting, traffic signals, buildings and related public works and City building projects; researches project design requirements; performs calculations and prepares estimates of material costs and time considerations.
• Researches publications and industry information sources.
• Develops and revises design and construction standards.
• Participates in the implementation of the City’s traffic and transportation engineering programs; prepares and revises plans and specifications for traffic related projects; prepares special studies and reports and coordinates major projects.
• Investigates field problems affecting property owners, contractors, and maintenance operations.
• Prepares estimates and feasibility reports for new or modified services and structures.
• Administers contracts and may assist with inspection services and project management for construction and maintenance projects.
• Participates in the plan check, review and processing of plans for private developments affecting streets, sewers, drains and related public works facilities and ensures that they meet all City imposed requirements.
• Prepares special engineering studies and reports.
• Coordinates planning, design, and construction activities with other City departments, divisions, and sections, and with outside agencies.
• Attends various staff and regional technical advisory meetings.
• Provides technical and professional assistance/support to other City departments and divisions, Planning Commission, and City Council as necessary.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in civil engineering or a closely related field;

OR

Possession of a current Engineer-in-Training Certificate, issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers, and one (1) year of professional civil engineering experience.

License Requirements:

DEFINITION:

To assist in implementing, coordinating, and evaluating recreation and programs and events, including but not limited to Teen Programs, Youth Programs, After School Programs, Aquatic Programs and events, promotional events, special events and excursions.

• Experience scheduling, organizing, assigns, and monitors program volunteers.
• Is able to creates publications and flyers using Microsoft Office or web-based solutions like Canva.
• Is familiar and able to creates promotional materials, including press releases and social media posts.
• Experience in planning, coordinating, and directing events, programs, and activities.
• Able to work with others and create relationships with partner non-profit organization.
• Experience collecting data and creating reports from all senior programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Implement, coordinate, and evaluate recreation programs, aquatics programs, special recreation events and services; publicize programs, events and services. Train, schedule and assign program staff and volunteers; assist in the development of staff evaluations. Assist with coordination and scheduling of the recreation or aquatics programs.  Promote and maintain safety in the work place. Maintain records and statistical data on programs. Issue, secure and maintain program equipment and supplies.  Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that Employee must be present to work to complete assigned tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

Community resources adaptable to the development of community services programs for specified recreation programs.  Principles of program coordination, training and evaluations.  Emergency procedures, First Aid and CPR.  Safety principles, practices and procedures.

Skill to:

Apply First Aid methods and safety precautions related to assigned programs.  Develop and maintain support for programs from the community and local organizations.  Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.  Oversee train and evaluate assigned staff.  Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of the required duties.  Operate office equipment, including a personal computer.

Ability to:

Develop cooperative public relations with the general public.  Remain calm in stressful situations.  Be consistent when enforcing rules and regulations.  Maintain authority and control over programs.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent.  Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

Two (2) year of increasing responsible experience in the delivery of recreation services. A Bachelor’s Degree may be substituted for one year of experience.

License or Certificates:

When only assigned to recreation duties, the following is required and must be maintained during the course of employment.

• Required upon hire:
  •  Valid California Driver’s license,
• Required within six months of hire,
  • Possession and maintenance of a current American Red Cross First Aid Certificate or equivalent and
  • Current American Red Cross Community CPR Certificate or equivalent

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Director of Administrative Services, the Management Analyst (Risk Management) provides professional support to risk management programs including: workers' compensation, safety compliance, review and approval of contracts and Certificates of Insurance, risk transfer, and leave and disability administration. 

In addition, you will have the opportunity to coordinate and oversee workers' compensation claims administration including monitoring accepted claims and providing information to claimants, attorneys, and the workers' compensation carrier. You will also serve as a consultant to City departments and employees on Risk Management (workers' compensation, safety, contract insurance) problems and communicate regularly with internal and external parties to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of assigned programs and activities, minimize risk, and advise of claim developments. The incumbent will be a vital member of our team! With a focus on capital improvement projects, our Associate Engineer performs a variety of professional-level engineering work including development, CIP and other City plans regarding stormwater management, streets, transportation and public buildings.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

• Perform a full range of professional level engineering duties in support of the City’s public works engineering projects, services, and activities including design and construction programs for City streets, storm drains, sewer lines, traffic, and related capital improvement programs.
• Perform plan check, review, and processing of plans for projects affecting City streets, sewers, drains, and related public works facilities; review engineering design and construction plans, drawings, specifications, contract documents, cost estimates, engineering calculations, and related documents prepared by consulting engineers and contractors for compliance with professional and City standards and practices; coordinate reviews with other departments and agencies.
• Prepare designs and specifications for assigned projects; develop engineering drawings, construction plans, specifications, contract documents, bid documents, calculations, and cost estimates for proposed projects; research project design requirements; prepare estimates of time and material costs.
• Act as the resident engineer on construction projects; administer contracts for assigned engineering projects; conduct site inspections during and at completion of project; monitor construction progress and changes to scope of work; discuss and recommend change orders; review and process requests for contract and final payments; prepare project close-out documents.

THE POSITION

The Parks and Recreation Department is looking for staff to assist with events at the Rocklin Events Center and other locations in the City. The Events Venue Specialist (Program Assistant) is a temporary position and incumbents work on an as-needed basis, not to exceed 28 hours per week and up to 999 hours per fiscal year. Temporary employment does not provide any guarantee of continued employment and the City of Rocklin may end the assignment at any time. Temporary employees are not eligible for any other benefits except where required by law and there is no guarantee of future permanent employment.

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Performs light janitorial duties (e.g., empty trash, clean restrooms, and restock supplies) before, during, and after events.
• Sets up audio visual equipment at venue site.
• Checks clients in and out of City venues.
• Takes prospective renters on tours of facilities and answers questions about pricing and equipment at each rental location.
• Ensures client needs are met.

THE  SCHEDULE 

A typical schedule looks like this:  

Evening and Night shifts Sunday through Thursday

Shifts vary from 7am - 1am Friday and Saturday

Night and weekend availability is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 18 years of age

Six (6) months of volunteer or work experience in the area assigned is highly desirable

A Responsible individual is needed to maintain and enforce proper city procedures and policies in our parks, parking lots and ball fields.   Park monitors will perform park inspections and enforce park policies, supervise patrons, renters and daily facility management. Park monitors and parking lot attendants must stand firm on policies, control diverse situations and always possess a friendly disposition and professional demeanor.  Park monitors and parking lot attendants must also have the ability to communicate and respond to customer service concerns, handle all weather conditions and be reliable with a strong work ethic and personal integrity. The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Associate Transportation Engineer in the Transportation Division of the Public Works Department! 

When assigned to development review, you will have the opportunity to review residential, commercial, industrial and public works project plans, traffic impact reports, and other development and design related documents for compliance with City of Berkeley standards and regulations including all applicable local, state, and federal codes and guidelines; evaluate and recommend mitigation measures to address adverse impacts of development projects; review plan checks for small developments; and review traffic control plans for construction projects.

When assigned to capital projects designs and traffic signal systems, you will have the opportunity to manage capital improvement projects including development of conceptual design options, detailed engineering design, bid, and construction administration; prepare council reports, conduct presentations, and respond to project-related public inquiries; design/review traffic engineering design elements for Complete Streets Projects and traffic calming projects; work with project development team to analyze street and road use for all road users focusing on safety and efficiency of transportation networks; and work with traffic signal maintenance team to maintain and upgrade city’s traffic signal system, including using Synchro traffic signal timing software. An ideal candidate in this role is proficient in scope, schedule, and cost management with managing multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously as well as working knowledge of complete streets design principles, traffic calming and traffic control elements, civil engineering, roadway design, and Citywide plans including Bike Plan and Pedestrian Plan.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in civil or traffic engineering and five years of increasingly responsible traffic engineering experience, three years of which were at a level equivalent to the Assistant Transportation Engineer class. Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college course work on a year for year basis.

Other requirements include possession of a valid California Registration as a professional Traffic Engineer or a professional Civil Engineer. A CA Registration as a Traffic Engineer is preferred. Candidates must also possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Desirable qualifications include a master's degree in Transportation Engineering/Planning or a related field.  

THE POSITION
Join us this summer season for a fun and engaging employment opportunity as a Senior Lifeguard to support the City of Rocklin's upcoming aquatic program and activities taking place at the Rocklin High School pool.

This class is distinguished from the Lifeguard by overall program responsibilities, training and experience. Senior Lifeguards serve as the Lead Lifeguard in providing technical and functional direction over Lifeguards.

Senior Lifeguards play a critical role in ensuring courteous and professional service to all pool attendees, including:

• Providing surveillance of swimmers and guests during City run swim hours. 
• Enforcing rules and regulation of City run aquatic facilities.
• Responding to emergency situations at assigned facilities. Administering and coordinating emergency first aid, as necessary.
• Providing superior customer service to all guests by assisting in a polite and expedient manner.
• Assisting the Parks and Recreation Supervisor with overseeing the safe and proper operation of assigned pool lifeguards. 
• Maintains order with disruptive patrons and exercises crowd control where warranted; refers escalated issues to the Parks and Recreation Supervisor.
• May be assigned other related duties. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
One season of experience performing duties similar to that of a Lifeguard. Senior Lifeguard experience is highly desirable.

Must be at least 18 years of age at time of appointment.

REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

• Possession of a current American Red Cross Lifeguard certificate, or equivalent, by date of appointment.
• Possession of a current American Red Cross CPR/AED certificate, or equivalent, by date of appointment. (Obtained in ARC Lifeguard Certification)
• Possession of a current American Red Cross First Aid certificate, or equivalent, by date of appointment. (Obtained in ARC Lifeguard Certification)

If you do not currently possess the required American Red Cross Lifeguard certificate, or equivalent certificates, you may be eligible to attend a future certification training offered through the City of Rocklin, as a condition of employment. This offering will be City paid and at no cost to the conditional employee.

This is a temporary, part-time, at-will classification that assists the Parks and Recreation Department with City aquatic programs and activities. Temporary employees typically work less than twenty-eight (28) hours per week, not to exceed 990 hours in a fiscal year (July 1st through June 30th). The expected duration of the employment is six (6) months or fewer, dependent on the needs of the City. Anticipated scheduling needs are between the hours of 11:30am and 4:30pm.

Temporary employees are not eligible for benefits, excluding those benefits prescribed by law.

Please note: temporary part-time employment with the City of Rocklin is on an 'at-will' basis meaning the City or the employee may terminate employment at any time with or without cause.
