What You'll Do

The Dispatch Services Supervisor will plan, organize and supervise the operation of the Dispatch Services Unit in the Technical Services Division of the Police Department.  This position will also assist in the preparation and monitoring of the Unit’s budget, coordinate the Emergency Mobile Communications Van activities, and provide technical staff assistance to Department staff. The primary duties of this position may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Coordinate and assist in formulating policies and procedures for the Dispatch Unit, including the incorporation of procedures required by other local jurisdictions served.
• Direct, coordinate and review the work plan for Dispatch Services, and develop methods for improvement of service delivery.
• Assume responsibility for all dispatch personnel matters including: selection, assignment and prioritization of work; training; evaluation; and effective input concerning disciplinary matters.
• Prepare work schedules to provide for adequate coverage on all shifts; prepare and approve time off and overtime schedules.
• Respond to inquiries and complaints concerning dispatch operations and personnel.
• Perform dispatch duties as needed
• Assist in the development of the Unit budget; monitor and, as appropriate, approve expenditures.
• Establish and maintain effective communications with other Department units, other City departments and applicable agencies at all government levels; and assist in the development of emergency-related plans and procedures.
• Coordinate the maintenance and repair of dispatch equipment with other City personnel, contractors and vendors.
• Prepare various reports of operations and activities; supervise maintenance of operational records and files.
• Serve as the Custodian of Records for Dispatch Services.
• Represent the Unit at applicable meetings and conferences; attend seminars and workshops.

The Dispatch Services Supervisor receives direction from the Police Technical Services Administrator or higher level department personnel and exercises direct supervision over dispatchers and other assigned staff.

Continued appointment in this position is contingent upon job performance.  This is a temporary “at will” position and has no benefits available.  The individual in this position may not work more than 1,000 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 through June 30).

This is a part-time civilian position that is responsible for assisting the support services division of the San Rafael Police Department.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael Police Department is seeking a part-time/temporary Police Evidence and Property Technician.  General supervision is provided by the Police Civilian Supervisor.  Responsibilities include processing, storing, and controlling evidence and other property received or confiscated by the Police Department; classifies and compares fingerprints; maintains property and evidence files and records.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but are not limited to the following):    

• Receives, logs, stores, and maintains property and evidence in accordance with Department procedures; transports evidence for forensic examination; maintains evidence rooms in an organized condition.
• Verifies inventories of evidence and property received and/or confiscated by Police Department.
• Reviews evidence and analysis forms for errors and omissions and assists with corrections.
• Determines purge dates for property and evidence; releases or disposes of property and evidence in accordance with applicable laws and court orders; prepares and sends letters to property owners for claim; releases property to rightful owner; prepares surplus and unclaimed property for disposal or auction.
• Prepares property and evidence for court trials; releases property to authorized persons; tracks chain of custody of evidence items; testifies in court regarding evidence chain of custody.
• Assists in determining evidence analysis requirements; provides training in proper evidence and packaging procedures.
• Evaluates suitability of latent fingerprints for automated system.
• Reviews and files photographic evidence.
• Responds to outside agency requests for evidence, status and chain of custody.
• Prepares a variety of property and evidence reports.
• Assists in other police service support work.
• Establishes and maintains inventory systems.
• Performs related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE OF/ABILITY TO: 

• Property and evidence storage, filing, retrieval and recordkeeping systems.
• Laws related to processing, storage, release and disposal of property and evidence.

The Enterprise GIS team operates out of the Department of Public Works but works across the city to coordinate GIS efforts, lead multi-departmental GIS projects, geospatially-enable City business systems, administer Enterprise GIS infrastructure for citywide use , and provide GIS support for various City departments and programs . The GIS Specialist I/II is a data focused position that is responsible for creating, maintaining , and ensuring the integrity of enterprise GIS datasets in support of the Department of Planning, Building, and Code Enforcement (PBCE), as well as providing ongoing support for PBCE GIS projects and applications. The position requires a commitment to building and maintaining quality GIS data, strong cartographic design skills, good attention to detail and customer service , and proficiency with ArcGIS software .

Under the direction of a senior team member, the GIS Specialist I/II will maintain GIS datasets and interface with planners to identify and address mapping and geospatial analysis needs . Key responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:

• Produce, analyze , and present geographic information utilizing ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online/Portal, and/or related software.
• Create and maintain enterprise GIS datasets using standard spatial editing tools and versioning. Interpret resources such as assessor's maps, discrepancy reports, Council-approved ordinances and resolutions, memorandums, and third-party data sources to enter graphic and attribute data into GIS while maintaining data integrity.

• Perform quality assurance checks on GIS data.

• Use SQL queries to produce reports on data management work.
• Use ETL (extract, transform, and load), Model Builder, or scripting tools to design and create GIS processes.
• Develop workflows and documentation for various GIS tasks.

• Provide support for departmental GIS users, including workflow automation, data conversion, map production, training, analysis support, and troubleshooting issues.

This City's Building Division provides oversight and assistance towards the City's growth and development in relation to construction activity on private property within the City . The goal is to en sure the safety of buildings and to support the health and wellbeing of all persons living and working in San Jose through the implementation of the State of California's current building codes and laws .

The Division is seeking applicants for the Division Manager classification within the Building Inspection section. This is a full-time position and is responsible for the supervision and mentorship of a team of Building Inspectors performing field inspections , plan review s , and over-the-counter review s , as well as the Development Services Support Services (call center) team. Division Managers also provide valuable feedback to the development community and project construction teams by leading on-site pre-construction meetings and helping to resolve conflicts during construction.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is currently recruiting for a full-time level I or II (depending on qualifications and experience) Civil Engineer to provide technical assistance for Capital Improvement Program (CIP) delivery projects in the Public Works Department. CIP engineering tasks will be the primary focus of this position. However, to appropriately respond to community needs, the Engineer I/II may also provide support to the Land Development and Transportation engineering sections, so adaptability and flexibility are keys to success in this position.

In this exciting opportunity, you will be at the forefront of designing, planning, and overseeing various infrastructure projects that directly impact our community. The Engineer I/II will work under the direct supervision of a Senior Civil Engineer and will perform professional or sub professional engineering work in the field and office. Assignments will involve investigating, developing, and constructing a wide variety of public works facilities, and engineering projects that are geared towards transforming and modernizing the City of Gilroy.  This is in addition to representing the City in community meetings and hearings, meetings with project stakeholders, and on regional committees as applicable.

The Public Works Engineering Division is comprised of three engineering sections overseen by the City Engineer: Traffic/Transportation Engineering, Capital Improvement Program (CIP), and Land Development.  
Though the primary focus for this position is CIP, work assignments may vary and may include any of the following:
CIP: prepare plans, specifications and engineering estimates for Capital Improvement Projects, prepare requests for proposal/qualifications and contracts in conformance with the City's Purchasing Policy, oversee the City’s 5-Year Paving Program through the use of StreetSaver, manage consultant led projects and inspection teams, and assist the Senior Engineer with project budgeting and grant writing.
Traffic/Transportation: prepare plans, specifications, and engineering estimates for traffic and transportation related projects, prepare requests for proposal/qualifications and contracts in conformance with the City’s Purchasing Policy, manage various traffic and transportation projects and inspection teams, manage the City’s Sidewalk Replacement Program, work on various traffic studies, participate in regional transportation programs and initiatives, and assist the City Engineer with project budgeting and grant writing.
Land Development: assist in the review and processing of land development projects, plans for conformance to City standards and policies, storm water management plans with City consultants, preparation of City plan check comments, and construction material submittals. The Engineer will engage with developers and construction inspectors to track project review and approval schedules, and provide coordination with City master plan utility consultants.

EXAMPLES OF FIRST YEAR PROJECTS/ASSIGNMENTS:

• Prepare plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for public works capital improvement projects including roadways, trails, facilities-related projects.
• Annual pavement rehabilitation curb ramps, sidewalk replacement, and traffic calming projects. 
• Assist in administration of the bi-annual Public Works Department budget and Capital Improvement Program.
• Administer consultant contracts.
• Assist City Engineer and/or Senior Civil Engineer with high priority capital projects.
