The City of San Bruno, Police Department is seeking a Police Lieutenant to serve as a manager of an assigned division or operation within the Police Department. Under the direction of a Police Captain or Chief of Police, the Lieutenant will be responsible for the direct supervision of sworn, non-sworn, supervisory, professional, technical, and administrative support staff. The Lieutenant will plan and coordinate activities of their assigned area and provide staff assistance to the Police Captain and the Chief of Police.

The ideal Police Lieutenant candidate will possess education, experience, training and perspective to help support the department’s direction and ensure its ongoing success. Minimum qualifications for the position include: 

• Possess of, and ability to maintain a valid State of California POST Peace Officer Certification
• Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience as a Police Officer including eighteen (18) months supervisory law enforcement experience as a member of a city police department, a county sheriff’s department, a regional park district, a district authorized by statute to maintain a police department, or the California Highway Patrol; and must have successfully completed the required probationary period for the required supervisory position currently or most recently occupied. 
• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred; applicants currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program with an accredited college or university, who have completed the equivalent of at least ninety (90) semester units and commit to obtaining a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university within twelve (12) months of appointment, may also apply.
• Possession of, or eligible to receive, Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Intermediate, and eligible to receive Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Supervisory Certificate(s) within six (6) months of appointment.
• Possession of, and ability to maintain, a valid California driver’s license.

What You'll Do

The Dispatch Services Supervisor will plan, organize and supervise the operation of the Dispatch Services Unit in the Technical Services Division of the Police Department.  This position will also assist in the preparation and monitoring of the Unit’s budget, coordinate the Emergency Mobile Communications Van activities, and provide technical staff assistance to Department staff. The primary duties of this position may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Coordinate and assist in formulating policies and procedures for the Dispatch Unit, including the incorporation of procedures required by other local jurisdictions served.
• Direct, coordinate and review the work plan for Dispatch Services, and develop methods for improvement of service delivery.
• Assume responsibility for all dispatch personnel matters including: selection, assignment and prioritization of work; training; evaluation; and effective input concerning disciplinary matters.
• Prepare work schedules to provide for adequate coverage on all shifts; prepare and approve time off and overtime schedules.
• Respond to inquiries and complaints concerning dispatch operations and personnel.
• Perform dispatch duties as needed

• Establish and maintain effective communications with other Department units, other City departments and applicable agencies at all government levels; and assist in the development of emergency-related plans and procedures.

The incumbent will provide administrative support to various departmental staff and compose and prepare correspondence using judgment in content and style. The County of San Mateo's Information Services Department seeks an IS Systems Specialist III to serve in the Security Division. Under general supervision, the individual in this position performs the most complex and varied technical tasks related to the configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and monitoring of the County's security infrastructure. This position serves as a technical leader and technical subject matter expert in specific security area(s) and is called upon to analyze existing and future computing environments and ensure that all solutions comply with County policy, frameworks and industry accepted best practices.

As an integral part of the Security team, the IS System Specialist III will be responsible for system administration across a variety of platforms and services such as: Firewalls (Palo Alto); Intrusion Detection and Prevention (Palo Alto Threat Prevention and Wildfire); Endpoint Protection Suite/XDR; Security Orchestration Platform (XSOAR); Cloud Security services; XDR SIEM monitoring and management; Vulnerability identification and mitigation/remediation.

The position also requires support in ancillary systems that support IAM/ARM platforms such as SolarWinds, Active Directory, OKTA. Additionally, this position will perform intrusion event investigative and reporting activities as required. Similarly, incumbents in this class must regularly analyze requests for new system implementations and ensure that strategies are applied that support best practice security design and integration with existing security infrastructure. Furthermore, this position will be tasked with performing analysis and data production and reporting in support of any identified indicators of compromise, audit and policy compliance across the enterprise.

Qualifications

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Criminal Records Supervisor.

The Position

Under direction of the Criminal Records Manager, the incumbent will supervise the maintenance of criminal records and related activities in the Sheriff's Records Bureau and provide difficult or specialized criminal records office support. There are four supervisors within the Records Bureau that oversee staff on: day shifts, swing shifts, night shifts, and at substations.

There is currently one full-time Criminal Records Supervisor vacancy in the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. The individual selected for this position will be assigned to the graveyard/night shift. The approximate working hours for the graveyard shift are 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.; however, schedules in the Criminal Records Bureau are flexible and can be changed depending upon the needs of the Sheriff’s Office.

DEFINITION

Applications Analyst I: Under supervision, translate user requirements of various software applications into functional programs and/or modifications to existing programs; analyze system and program errors and provide and implement solutions; improve systems through development of procedures and adapt systems to handle additional requirements; define and manipulate management reports within and across databases; perform other duties as assigned.

Applications Analyst II: Under limited supervision, performs complex technical work
Positions in the Applications Analyst II classification are flexibly staffed and normally filled from advancement from the Applications Analyst I class, or when filled from the outside, require specific technology experience. Appointment to this class requires the employee to be performing substantially the full range of Applications Analyst duties and to meet the qualifications for the class. The class requires the ability to work independently exercising judgment and initiative and a greater knowledge of the City’s software applications.
 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Work with department representatives to define and revise system requirements. Manage selection and implementation projects related to new systems purchases. Manage and administer software applications to address functionality, security, and performance requirements. Manage support and maintenance issues and tasks with system vendors, coordinating and communicating with users. Compose and revise various database reports, communicating with users to ensure accuracy and integrity of information. Troubleshoot and resolve application and reporting problems. Plan, schedule and coordinate maintenance, system upgrade, and backup/restore tasks. Train users on system functionality and provide support and mentorship to ensure applications are used to full potential. Work with IS network administration staff in defining, configuring, and administering infrastructure for applications systems, to include hardware, operating system software, and network capacity. Similarly, coordinate efforts with IS development staff to manage interdependencies of various software applications and reporting methods.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: Microsoft Windows server-side operating system and application software, including SQL server, database scripting tools and reporting applications, including Crystal Reports and SSRS; basic understanding of IIS; client-server relationships, including basic TCP/IP skills, web- based connectivity, and current language/application design standards, including .Net; Microsoft client software including current operating systems and Office application suites; project management methods and techniques; general IT principles and practices.

Ability to: Focus on user/customer needs; analyze and evaluate business processes; identify problems and recommend effective solutions; organize and direct the work of others; coordinate and manage project resources; develop and implement effective procedures for software application training; recognize interdependencies and anticipate potential conflicts; refine and maintain technical skills necessary to implement new technologies; interact positively and cooperate with co-workers, respond politely to customers, work as a team member, function under demanding time pressure, prioritize work assignments, respond in a positive manner to supervision, and attend work and perform duties on a regular and consistent basis.

Experience:

Education:

The Position

The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for Public Safety Dispatchers (Lateral.)  Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This position operates on a 24-hour, 365 days per year basis, and may be assigned to either a day, swing, or graveyard shift on a regular, rotational basis that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.  Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. Dispatchers receive and transmit emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio traffic as well as process communication reports, records, and radio logs, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.  Dispatchers may also support the Police Department by performing clerical tasks, training, assisting with fingerprinting, and being accountable for financial transactions.  This position is integral in supporting the goals and objectives of the City and Police Department.  

Essential Duties

• Receives and transmits emergency telephone and radio traffic. 
• Maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records and radio logs.
• Operates a dispatch console, uses Computer Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) System and other computer programs to process information and records.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
• Performs collateral duties including a variety of related clerical tasks: assisting in preparation of work schedules; training and evaluating performance of new employees; conducting training sessions; assisting in fingerprinting and jail operations, which may include searching prisoners; and is accountable for handling cash, bond, and check transactions.
• Plans, organizes, and directs dispatching and related activities on an assigned shift. This may include preparing schedules and prioritizing work; observing work performed by Dispatcher I employees to ensure compliance with standards; approving time off; conducting employee evaluations; and providing effective recommendations on personnel matters.
• Prepares and maintains training and procedure manuals.  As required, prepares special reports, and undertakes projects for Management Staff.
• May act as Records/Dispatcher Supervisor in their absence.
• Maintains liaison with other Department Divisions, City Departments, and other law enforcement and emergency response agencies.
• Maintains various C.A.D and Record Management Files.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The City of San Bruno Community Services Department is seeking a Recreation Coordinator to coordinate the planning, organizing, coordination, and administration of community recreation programs for age 50-plus adults under the supervision of a Recreation Services Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for professional recreation duties, encompassing the planning, organization, coordination, and supervision of programs at the San Bruno Senior Center. The brand-new 49,360 sq ft facility will feature indoor and outdoor lap pools, a zero-entry wading pool, fitness amenities, a gymnasium, a walking track, and ample space for programming and rentals.

The successful candidate will be responsible for professional recreation duties, encompassing the planning, organization, coordination, and supervision of recreational programs at the facility.  Candidates with experience in fitness, aquatics, and general recreation programs are desired.

Responsibilities of the Recreation Services Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

• Managing and supervising assigned operations to achieve goals within available resources; planning and organizing workloads and staff assignments; trains, motivates and evaluates assigned staff and volunteers; reviews progress and directs and implements changes as needed.
• Assuring that assigned areas of responsibility are performed within budget; performing cost control activities; monitoring revenues and expenditures in assigned area to assure sound fiscal control; preparing annual budget requests; assures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities, and time.
• Issuing written and oral instructions; assigning duties and examining work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
• Responding to public inquiries about recreation programs made by telephone, correspondence, or during public meetings.
• Preparing for publication a variety of brochures, calendars, letters, posters, news releases, flyers, and related communications regarding recreation programs.
• Develop and implement a variety of programs for the aging adult community.
• Provide strong leadership and direction to staff and volunteers.
• Develop a fun, welcoming and inclusive environment for program participants.

Requirements

In addition to graduation from a four-year accredited college or university with major coursework in recreation, physical education, social work, gerontology, public administration or another closely related field of study – the candidate will also have two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the development and coordination of programs, services, activities and events are required. Experience in recreation programs with the public is highly desirable.

The City of San Bruno Public Library is currently recruiting for a part-time, temporary Library Assistant—Homework Center Supervisor. Candidates must be able to commit from September 2024 to June 2025, for 17 hours per week and availability Monday 2-6PM, Tuesday 2-6PM, Wednesday 1-6PM and Thursday 2-6PM (with the exception of Library and San Bruno Park School District holidays). Under the direction of the Library Services Manager, the Library Assistant—Homework Center Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Library's after-school Homework Center, including classroom management, homework help, supervising and training volunteers, collaborating with library staff, and maintaining accurate records of homework center attendance. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining a welcoming place for students to do their homework effectively within the larger context of the library, and for planning weekly activities and training/supervising students in the use of the 3-D printer. The homework center is a free, drop-in, after-school program for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
• Some college coursework

* This is a part-time/temporary/seasonal position with the City of San Bruno. As such, employees agree to serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be terminated at any time. This position works a maximum of 17 hours per week and does not provide any benefits, except for paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes. Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment.
