The City of San José is recruiting for an IT Support Manager in the Information Technology Department. As a technical manager, this position will be responsible for overseeing infrastructure service and day-to-day operations for the City’s Emergency Operation Center (EOC).

The IT Support Manager supports the essential technologies needed to operate the City’s EOC in disasters, including the core network infrastructure, computing servers, storage, enterprise applications, collaboration tools, Mobile Device Management, Motorola Computer Dispatch workstations, and video and audio systems. The EOC technologies include a multi-layer redundant/backup network connectivity with a localized data center, servers, and storage. The IT Support Manager is a member of the IT Department with a mission to support the EOC. The work plan defines the business requirements with priorities set by the Office of Emergency Management. As a member of the EOC response team, the IT Support Manager will need to be available onsite to support the emergency event. Work hours during an emergency event could be after City’s business hours or on the weekend.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Providing technical leadership for the City’s enterprise infrastructure which includes: network, servers, hyperconverged infrastructure, desktops and mobile devices, Active Directory, VPN, Federation Service, Public/Private Cloud support, enterprise storage, system management and monitor, enterprise system backups and restore, as well as Disaster Recovery of EOC IT services.

The 1042 Security Engineer is the journey level position in the Engineer series. The class is distinguished from the Senior level by the complexity of the tasks, projects or duties assigned, and is more independent than the Assistant level. Works within a framework of established procedures and interprets policies, procedures and guidelines. The Information Technology Department is seeking a Usability and Accessibility Senior Analyst to be part of the City’s two-year program to expand San José 311 feature development, customer experience, and geographic equity. The Senior Analyst will lead and perform usability and accessibility work on digital service delivery analysis and/or improvement. This position will play a key role in ensuring new services are developed in a way that bridges access, language, and ease of use barriers experienced disproportionately by underserved portions of our community. As a Senior Analyst, you will also be serving as both an expert and an educator in your discipline, establishing practices across departments and providing guidance and training to other city staff.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Leading user research on digital products by:
  • Identifying user and organizational needs through interviews, conversations, workshops/focus groups, and analytics research.
  • Building strong professional relationships with stakeholders to understand what is best for the users.
• Designing user interface prototypes and journey mapping to improve resident and staff outcomes with digital services.
• Training and coaching City staff and creating documentation on standards for user-centered design approaches.
• Engaging internal and external customers to conduct usability testing that aids in building meaningful products, services, and processes.
• Sustaining and improving customer satisfaction through quality customer support, continual improvement of system/user interface configuration and, analysis and/or resolution of product issues.  
• Performing omnichannel audits and/or assessments that provide actionable recommendations to improve accessibility and usability.

This position is a temporary, benefitted position, with a standard 40 hours per week with an end date of June 30, 2023.

Under the direction of the Custodial Supervisor, the Casual Maintenance Custodian Assistant serves as the worker in the duties of care and cleaning of assigned buildings and related facilities.  The incumbent may be required to travel between several City buildings during their scheduled shift.  This recruitment is to fill a position that has been designated to cover a night shift from 5 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., including weekends.  This recruitment may also be used to fill similar casual positions throughout the City;  shifts and schedules may vary and may include daytime shifts as needed. 

This is a non-benefited casual position.  A casual employee may not work more than 1000 hours per fiscal year.
