The Department: 
The Parks & Recreation Department supports a vibrant, active quality of life for all ages, abilities, and interests of the Santa Clara community through excellent parks and recreational facilities, community services, programs, and events. The Parks Division provides planning, development, operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of City parks and open spaces. The Recreation Division provides classes and programs for all ages and abilities. The Position: 
An incumbent in this classification is responsible for the safe operation of an assigned swimming pool, including supervising pool personnel, overseeing conduct of pool events, ensuring  collection and security of revenue, and attendant record keeping.  Candidates must be able to serve a variety of ages, abilities and needs in participants from diverse backgrounds with tact and professionalism.
 
As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Requirements
• Education equivalent to completion of the eleventh grade; and
• Three (3) years of experience in swimming pool management, swimming instruction, lifeguarding, or related activity; and
• Must be at least 17 years of age at time of application

Possible Substitution
• One (1) year of experience in lifeguarding and/or swimming instruction with the City of Santa Clara may be substituted for the required three (3) years of experience.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES
Possession of the following certificates is required:
• A valid American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certificate or Completion of City of Santa Clara Learn to Swim Instruction Program; and
• A valid American Red Cross Lifeguard certificate; and

San Mateo Medical Center is seeking an experienced Surgery Scheduling Specialist for a Full-Time, Extra-help position for the Surgery Department. The Surgery Scheduling Specialist provides technical, complex and specialized administrative support to surgeons and patients scheduled for surgery, which includes interaction with operating room staff and patients; handles multiple competing priorities; interacts with diverse customer groups; handles multiple patient-related tasks such as tracking patient financials to ensure information is correctly entered; and moves patients from the clinic to the operating room, including all pre-operative processes necessary for the patients prior to surgery, pre-op process sheets and clinic schedules, data entry of items into the operative database, financial reconciliation, and post-op order sets, and may have some responsibilities for ordering supplies or equipment.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex medical terminology to a variety of people with varying levels of medical knowledge. In addition, they would possess skills in conflict resolution, and problem solving. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work with challenging patients, and patients who may have a language or communication barrier. This position will require attention to detail, and therefore the ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
 
NOTE: The ability to speak, read and write in fluent English and Spanish is preferred for this position.
 
 Duties for this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Tracking patient financials to be sure they are correctly entered.
• Scheduling patients in the procedure clinic.  
• Updating the pre-op process sheet and clinic schedule in the computer.
• Entering data into the operative database.
• Interfacing between the Operating Room and Surgeon.
• Ability to schedule patients using the OR manager program.

In this role, you will perform skilled inspection work with City residential housing inspection programs. The therapeutic program at SMMC is oriented toward inpatients and outpatients with acute and chronic problems while providing therapy to inpatients with a need for long or short-term rehabilitation.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of one year of work experience providing care in an outpatient setting with an interest in covering inpatient when the census justifies. San Mateo County Health is seeking an experienced individual for the position of Public Health Clinics Process Improvement Manager that plans, oversees, and provides a wide variety of administrative, analytical, and work-flow support on a County-wide level; analyzes practices and procedures and makes recommendations for organizational, operational, policy, and procedural improvements; conducts needs analysis, feasibility studies, and program evaluation for assigned projects and programs; develops, summarizes, and maintains administrative and fiscal records; fosters cooperative working relationships among County departments and acts as liaison with various community, public, and regulatory agencies; and performs related work as required.

• Quality assurance and improvement: build and visualize data in management reports and dashboards; convert data to information and use it to guide process improvement.
• Process improvement: facilitate, document, track, organize, and measure progress, e.g., conduct improvement work within daily huddles.

• Perform initial diagnostic evaluation noting behavioral symptoms which may indicate organic and/or mental disorders in children and in interpersonal/ family dysfunctions related to child and adult patients/clients.
• Determine and develop appropriate treatment plans for all clients in the caseload.
• Conduct individual, group and family counseling/therapy sessions for clients toward the goal of achieving more adequate, satisfying and productive adjustments in the community and provide case management services as appropriate.
• Participate in developing individual and group treatment plans utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic, psychosocial and psycho educational modalities.
• Perform suicide/risk assessments.
• Conduct home visits and/or field-based services.
• Crisis Intervention. Make client referrals and plan discharge procedures.
• Assess progress of clients on a selected basis and propose modifications to rehabilitation plans in order to meet goals agreed upon by the clients/patients.
• Prepare and maintain psychosocial case histories for use in diagnostic evaluations and of patient progress.
• Supervise graduate interns.
• Provide outreach counseling and refer clients to appropriate mental health program service resources.
• Collect and evaluate medical or psychosocial data such as case histories, behavior patterns and family relationships of patients/clients.
• Analyze factors which exert an adverse effect upon health problems, treatment, or recovery, or which may contribute to or are responsible for mental illness or affect the potential for rehabilitation.
• Conduct treatment groups in schools and other community settings with emotionally and behaviorally disturbed children toward the goal of achieving higher functioning in interpersonal relationships and learning.
• Work as a psychiatric team member with other treatment disciplines.
• Utilize Trauma Informed Care and other Evidence-based practices.
• Provide consultation and education services.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and responding to after-hours calls (Youth Services Center).
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and responding to after-hours calls from Psychiatric Emergency Services (Youth Case Management).
• Perform related duties as assigned.

NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Extra-help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week. Extra help employees shall not exceed 1,040 hours of work per fiscal year. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment.

The County of San Mateo is actively recruiting highly qualified candidates for the role of Forensic Mental Health Psychiatric Social Worker I/II - Marriage & Family Therapist I/II. We currently have four vacancies at the Maguire and Maple Street Correctional Facilities. Fluency in Spanish is preferred.

Correctional Health Services (CHS) therapists provide clinical mental health services utilizing Trauma Informed Care to inmates with mental illness, serious mental illness, or substance use disorders and/or co-occurring disorders of mental illness, serious mental illness, and chemical dependency. They also provide case management services and discharge planning by interviewing inmate patients to assess mental health needs and formulate treatment plans. They function as a team member in a multi-disciplinary work setting where they collaborate with Sheriff's Office staff to manage inmate patients' daily activities. The Ideal Candidate will possess

• A current license as either a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist.
• Solid clinical treatment, assessment, and diagnostic skills.
• Knowledge of principles, techniques and trends in counseling, psychotherapy, clinical case management, crisis management and various treatment modalities as they pertain to the justice involved adult population.
• Experience providing treatment for adults with serious mental illness.
• Experience delivering services to adult incarcerated persons who have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
• Excellent documentation skills: progress notes, assessments, and treatment planning, etc.
• Demonstrated expertise, skill and interest in working with a broad range of clients of diverse cultures and backgrounds, such as Latino, Pacific Islander, African American, and LGBTQ, and an ability to provide culturally appropriate and proficient services.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with families, co-workers, other professionals, the Sheriff’s office, collaborative partners and the public.
• Extensive knowledge of available community resources within the County of San Mateo and its neighboring counties.
• Experience using electronic health/medical record systems (e.g. AVATAR, SOARIAN, Epic).
• Fluency in any of the threshold languages: Spanish, Tagalog, Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) or Russian and experience providing clinical services using bilingual skills.
• Experience working in a correctional facility and/or experience working with Law enforcement.
• Experience providing case management services for an inmate population.
• Demonstrated ability in providing clinical mental health services to an adult population with serious mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders of mental illness, serious mental illness, and substance use disorders.
