This position serves on a tree crew; prunes, sprays, feeds and fertilizes; stakes and otherwise cares for trees. This position climbs and prunes trees using rope and saddle and/or aerial lift equipment.
 
The City of Sunnyvale currently maintains a street tree inventory of over 38,000 street trees. The Maintenance Worker 2 – Tree Maintenance position is a fully trained/skilled tree climber position. The qualified candidate shall have at least six months experience similar to an ISA Certified Tree Worker Climber Specialist. This position serves on a tree crew, prunes, sprays, feeds, fertilizes, plants, stakes and otherwise cares for trees. This position climbs and trims trees using rope and saddle and/or aerial lift equipment. Successful candidates shall be required to demonstrate proficiency in tree climbing using standard arboricultural climbing equipment, i.e. rope and saddle, to pass probation of the Maintenance Worker 2 position.

Under the direction of the Controller, provides accounting and fiscal support, including budget tracking, income and expenditure reports, revenue billing and collection, payroll, reviews and reconciles a variety of complex financial transactions for the Peninsula Library System and its multiple contracted agencies.

Distinguished from the Accounting Assistant I by the amount of accounting experience required. An Accounting Assistant II works under general supervision and, within a framework of established procedures, is expected to perform a variety of more complex accounting duties with only occasional assistance.

THE POSITION

The Fiscal Analyst I/II/III position at the Glenn County Health and Human Services Agency performs varied and complex professional accounting and financial analysis work relating to various grants and programs; fiscal and contract management; fiscal program analysis and compliance; prepares analytical, narrative, statistical, accounting and financial reports; develops and monitors budgets; prepares financial statements and reports, and related duties as assigned. Fiscal Analyst II is the journey-level classification in the series and is distinguished from the Fiscal Analyst I by the responsibility and working independently with minimal supervision. Fiscal Analyst III is the advanced level in the series, and is distinguished from Fiscal Analyst I/II by the performance of the most complex accounting and analytical work within the assigned department. This position is full-time and scheduled for forty (40) hours.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Provides information for and prepares periodic accounting, fiscal reports, and analysis to internal units, federal, state, and local agencies and/or to private auditing firms as required by governing agencies. 
• Prepares reports and analysis on accounting activities relating to funds, grants and programs. 
• Prepares various financial statements including worksheets, balance sheets, income statements, statements of cash flow, adjusting and closing balance sheets, depreciation schedules, allocation schedules, and cost reports.
• Monitors the status of various grants including analyzing the availability of funds, reviewing expenditures, and ensuring that activities comply with grant regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE:

I - Some professional level accounting or fiscal analytical experience is desirable.

II - At least one (1) year of professional level accounting experience as Fiscal Analyst I in Glenn County, or Two (2) years of professional accounting or fiscal analytical experience in a private or public entity. Incumbents do not automatically promote to Fiscal Analyst II.

III - At least one (1) year of professional level accounting experience as Fiscal Analyst II in Glenn County, or Three (3) years of professional accounting or fiscal analytical experience in a private or public entity. Incumbents do not automatically promote to Fiscal Analyst III. 

EDUCATION:

I/II/III - Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field. Substitution: Additional progressively responsible experience in accounting or financial analysis may be substituted for the required education. 
 

The City of Belmont Public Works Department is recruiting for an Assistant Civil Engineer position.

Assistant Civil Engineer - Step 1 $8,400.14 to Step 6 $10,720.91

The Assistant Civil Engineer is an entry-level class in the Civil Engineer series. This class is distinguished from the Associate Civil Engineer by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the Civil Engineer series. Incumbents perform less complex office and field engineering work and assignments are generally routine or closely related within a framework of established procedures. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have applicable education but only limited related work experience. The Assistant Civil Engineer receives general supervision from higher level professional engineers and may exercise technical or functional supervision over technical engineering staff. The Assistant Civil Engineer position does not require registration as a civil engineer or professional engineer. 

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Perform a variety of engineering duties in support of capital improvement projects including road construction, storm drains, sewers, traffic systems and related construction projects.
• Perform design and engineering studies for capital improvement projects, including the preparation of project plans, research project design requirements, drawing specifications, cost estimates and project schedules.
• Preparation of Request for Proposals, including scope of work for a variety of engineering projects and studies. Management of engineering consultant procurement process and oversight of engineering consultants.
• Manage advertisement and award of construction projects including the review of contract bids and proposals; management of construction contracts including participating in the review of contractor work activities; ensures contract compliance with contractual obligations, prepares and reviews change orders and manages contract close out and acceptance.
• Coordinate projects and assignments with businesses, utilities, special districts, and other City departments. Respond to complaints and assists in solving problems related to City projects and policies; provides information to property owners, contractors, engineers, consultants, and the general public on conformance to standards, plans, specifications, and costs.
• Conduct or oversee field inspections or investigation of capital projects during construction; ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations; provides resolutions to construction problems; conduct or oversee survey, mapping, and data collection.
• Perform a variety of engineering complex calculations and computation; prepare project cost analyses; prepare estimates of time and materials costs.
• Investigate field problems affecting property owners, contractors, and maintenance operations.
• Develop revised design and construction standards for public works structures and appurtenances.
• Prepare estimates and feasibility reports for new or modified services and structures.
• Prepare special engineering studies and reports.
• Prepare applications for state and federal grants.
• Review and provide plan check comments for private development applications and building, grading, and encroachment permits in accordance with City codes, ordinances, and policies. Review of required studies and coordinates with consultants to provide peer review of special studies.
• Exercise professional engineering judgment in accordance with current accepted practice of civil engineering and appropriate laws and codes.
• Maintain a variety of public works department and engineering division program and project files and records.

Qualifications:

• Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college level course work in planning, public administration or a related field.
  • One year of work experience involving a high level of public contact including some experience working with the public in an enforcement, inspection, or customer service capacity. Experience that includes the enforcement of municipal codes is highly desirable. 
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within one month of hire, an appropriate, valid driver’s license.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within the probation period, a PC 832 certification
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within the probation period, a California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS) certificate.
  • Possession of residential building inspection certificate highly desirable.

This position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in construction, repairs, and installations related to energy conservation, weatherization, and housing rehabilitation services at the Glenn County Community Action Department.  The Housing Rehabilitation Worker III may exercise lead supervision over lower level positions and contract employees. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week. This recruitment may be used to establish a list to fill future vacancies for the next twelve (12) months.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Performs a variety of housing rehabilitation and weatherization duties in the maintenance and repair; performs a variety of janitorial, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, blower door testing, and dwelling assessment.
• Weatherizes dwellings and performs energy conservation measures to include weather striping of doors, window repair, installation of, furnace filters, carbon dioxide detectors, caulking, cooler covers, sheetrock, thresholds, doors, windows, etc.
• Installs siding, wood stoves, solar and evaporative coolers; repair rooms and plumbing, installs energy saving devices such as gaskets on faucets, showerheads, and aerators.
• Assists in coordinating housing rehabilitation activities with other County departments, divisions, sections, and outside agencies.
• Meets with owners to select contractor to perform proposed housing rehabilitation repairs and to discuss proposed work.
• Receives bids and checks for changes on bid forms to comply with bidding requirements; prepares cost estimates for materials; requisitions necessary supplies and materials.
