San Mateo Medical Center and its clinics are currently seeking well-qualified candidates for Physical Therapist II to provide outpatient and/or inpatient services at San Mateo Medical Center - Main Campus in San Mateo, CA. Currently, there is a Limited-Term, Full-Time vacancy and an Extra-Help, part-time vacancy. 

These positions would provide outpatient and/or inpatient services physical therapy evaluations and treatments for a variety of orthopedic and neurologic conditions.

Physical Therapists manage patients with a wide range of diagnoses, chronic and acute, and are part of a dynamic treatment team. In addition, Physical Therapists identify patient challenges and develop goals and a care plan with reasonable outcomes for the individual's life/work settings. Daily opportunities are created in this assignment through the variety of illnesses/injuries seen in our patient population.

Physical Therapists work at SMMC as part of a County rehabilitation program, which provides evaluation, education and treatment. The therapeutic program at SMMC is oriented toward inpatients and outpatients with acute and chronic problems while providing therapy to inpatients with a need for long or short-term rehabilitation.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of one year of work experience providing care in an outpatient setting with an interest in covering inpatient when the census justifies. Ability to work weekends and/or holiday coverage when necessary is also strongly preferred. New or recent graduates with independent outpatient physical therapy work experience or internships are encouraged to apply.

• Under medical direction, plan and perform physical therapy for a variety of patients.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive treatment to patients.

What You’ll Do

The Assistant Civil Engineer is an entry-level class in the Civil Engineer series. This class is distinguished from the Associate Civil Engineer by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the Civil Engineer series. Incumbents perform less complex office and field engineering work and assignments are generally routine or closely related within a framework of established procedures. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have applicable education but only limited related work experience. The Assistant Civil Engineer receives general supervision from higher level professional engineers and may exercise technical or functional supervision over technical engineering staff. The Assistant Civil Engineer position does not require registration as a civil engineer or professional engineer. 

The Associate Civil Engineer performs a variety of complex engineering work for design, investigation, and management of public works projects and oversight of private development and permitted construction, prepares a variety of engineering documents, drawings and specifications, to act as project manager in assigned capital projects; and to perform a variety of professional public works and engineering tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.  

This is the full journey level class within the professional Civil Engineer series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Assistant Civil Engineer by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, including by the greater complexity of the assignments received and by the greater independence with which an incumbent is expected to operate. Incumbents are expected to complete complex engineering assignments requiring the use of judgment and initiative in developing solutions to problems, interpreting general policies, and determining work assignments. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Office Assistants provide a variety of office support activities to an assigned program or division. Office Assistants are expected to provide professional and courteous customer service at all times; greet and assist program visitors; answer the telephone in a courteous and professional manner; provide accurate information and answer general questions or forward calls to appropriate staff. Office Assistants also are tasked to open and secure assigned facilities; set up, arrange, and take furniture and equipment and ensure set up is in accordance with customer needs and requests for classes, rentals, meetings, and special events; monitor the proper and safe use of City facilities by the general public and ensure adherence to rules and policies; ensure the cleanliness and safety of facilities throughout the day. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency with word processing, data entry and organization, telephone and counter reception, record keeping, verbal and written communication, and customer service.

Currently, the City is preparing to open a brand-new, state-of-the-art multi-service center known as the Belle Haven Community Campus. This new campus is on track to open soon and will feature a senior center, youth center, recreation center, gymnasium, swim center and branch library.
