The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Deputy County Counsel II/III in the Office of County Counsel. Under the direction of the County Counsel and Chief Deputy County Counsel, attorneys in this series perform professional legal work by preparing and trying civil cases and providing legal counsel and assistance to the County, it’s officers, associated boards and commissions, as well as outside agencies; assist departments in interpreting regulations on a wide range of topics; represent officers and employees in litigation; and perform duties as assigned.  The Deputy County Counsel I/II/III classification is flexibly staffed and depending on background and experience, may be filled directly at the Deputy County Counsel II or III level. • Represents, confers with, and advises clients of the Office of the County Counsel with respect to all aspects of civil law, including litigation in the area of probate, police powers, zoning, planning, social services, health care, child welfare, disciplinary appeals and grievances, real and personal property, assessment and taxation, and other civil areas of public law.  
• Researches and prepares formal written ordinances, resolutions, contracts, agreements, leases, conveyances and other legal documents.

• Prepares pleadings and other papers in connection with trials, hearings and other legal proceedings; performs research, investigation and detailed legal preparation for the trial or defense of the County in cases involving condemnation, damage or other civil suits.

• Drafts proposed legislation, analyzes pending legislation and recommends County position on legislation.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Tiny Tots Instructor will teach assigned classes of pre-school children ranging in ages from 18 months to 5 years old in enrichment, recreational and educational based programming (Tiny Tots Aide will assist).

• Develop and instruct weekly lesson plans (i.e. art, free play, enrichment, and circle time).

• Must have 6 academic units at the junior college level in an Early Childhood Education program and 18 months experience in a recreation or structured child care setting for preschoolers.

Position Details

Under close supervision, maintain constant watch over a public swimming pool facility to enforce regulations and prevent accidents, assist swimmers in distress and provide emergency and routine first aid. Create a safe and positive atmosphere for all participants and perform basic facility maintenance duties.

• Actively scan the pool, deck and locker rooms for safety and potential hazards and address the situation properly to remedy it

There is potential for slip hazards when working near water and exposure to blood borne pathogens when rendering first aid. Working hours will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

EXCITING OPPORTUNITY

The Town of San Anselmo is seeking applications for the full-time position of Senior Building Inspector in the Public Works and Building Department.  It is an exciting opportunity to work in a broad range of areas, to help shape the future of the Town.

The Department of Public Works maintains the Town’s infrastructure to support the community. With a staff of 15, the department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the following public facilities: roads, parks, buildings, parking, equipment, and vehicle fleet. In addition, Town engineering, capital construction projects, and natural disaster response are also managed within the Public Works department.

THE POSITION

Typical duties of the Senior Building Inspector position include, but are not limited to:

• Make field inspections of buildings and public works permits to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical codes, statutes, and regulations of the Town, county, state and federal agencies.
• Review, approve and issue permits for construction work.

 Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge and Abilities):

• Knowledge of state and local building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, energy, accessibility, and fire codes and local building, fire and zoning ordinances.
• Principles and techniques of building construction, building materials and accepted safety standards; Principles and techniques of building inspection.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret building plans and specifications; understand, interpret and apply codes, ordinances, and regulations; communicate clearly and concisely in English, both orally and in writing.
• Use windows-based computer programs such as MS Word and Excel.
• Operate a car and pickup truck safely, back vehicle a long distance, and steer through narrow roadways and hillsides.

Experience and Training:

• Five years of progressively responsible experience in building inspection, including commercial inspection and/or plan check experience, of which two (2) years must be at full journey level.
• Three years of experience as a building inspector or related field involving inspection or code enforcement.
• Graduation from high school or equivalent to the completion of 12th grade – college training in the field of civil engineering, architecture, or building technology may be substituted for equivalent year of work experience. Associated of Arts degree preferred.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain within 3 months, a valid California driver’s license
• Possession of, or ability to obtain within 6 months, certification, through the International Code Council, as a California Residential Building Inspector- J1 and California Commercial Building Inspector- I1

Special Requirements/Physical Demands:

• On-site field inspections and office work require a moderate amount of physical agility. Intermittently walk, stand, twist, squat, kneel, climb, and bend both in the office and in the field.
• On a continuous basis, sit at a desk or stand at a counter to answer questions of the public.  Write by long hand and use a computer keyboard to communicate through written means.
• Frequently lift or carry a weight of up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• The nature of the work requires the individual to climb 30’ to 40’ ladders or scaffolding to reach high areas such as roofs, balance on narrow walkways or steep-pitched roofs, crawl through narrow openings and in confined spaces.
• During inspections, the individual may be required to walk on uneven surfaces. Work will require exposure to intermittent uncomfortable working conditions such as dust, noise, and extreme cold or heat. Inspections are done out-of-doors year-round.

Marina Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

 

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center, and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

 

The Position: Marina Attendants provide assistance and information to marina customers, in person and by telephone; perform marina related inspections and boat checks including seaworthiness boat checks and improvement verifications; perform boat measurement and appearance inspections; monitor dock conditions, check seawall and other dock infrastructure, and clear debris from Suisun City waters; perform impound and auction related activities; interpret, apply and explain policies, regulations, codes and procedures relating to slips, moorings and dock structures; assign space for visiting vessels, calculate and collect fees; maintain inventory and operate marina equipment. We’re looking for highly motivated people with a customer service orientation who genuinely enjoy helping others and who are flexible problem-solvers.
