The Department

The Position

The Human Resources Analyst I/II will perform a wide range of responsibilities in the Human Resources Department. The current vacancy will primarily focus on recruitment and examination responsibilities. This recruitment may also be utilized to fill an additional vacancy to support the benefits function within the Human Resources Department.

Examples of job responsibilities may include, but not limited to the following:
• Compile and analyze HR metrics and data from a variety of sources and HR systems (NEOGOV and PeopleSoft 9.2) to make recommendations.
• Prepares reports with data results, including presenting and explaining findings/recommendations related to human resources policies and processes.
• Assists in the interpretation and application of human resources rules, policies, legislation and MOUs.

− Support HRIS (PeopleSoft 9.2) testing activities to support benefits programs and processes: open enrollment, ACA, CalPERS, including the development and implementation of new functionality (e.g.., onboarding) within PeopleSoft 9.2.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael Police Department is seeking a part-time/temporary Police Evidence and Property Technician.  General supervision is provided by the Police Civilian Supervisor.  Responsibilities include processing, storing, and controlling evidence and other property received or confiscated by the Police Department; classifies and compares fingerprints; maintains property and evidence files and records.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but are not limited to the following):    

• Receives, logs, stores, and maintains property and evidence in accordance with Department procedures; transports evidence for forensic examination; maintains evidence rooms in an organized condition.
• Verifies inventories of evidence and property received and/or confiscated by Police Department.
• Reviews evidence and analysis forms for errors and omissions and assists with corrections.
• Determines purge dates for property and evidence; releases or disposes of property and evidence in accordance with applicable laws and court orders; prepares and sends letters to property owners for claim; releases property to rightful owner; prepares surplus and unclaimed property for disposal or auction.
• Prepares property and evidence for court trials; releases property to authorized persons; tracks chain of custody of evidence items; testifies in court regarding evidence chain of custody.
• Assists in determining evidence analysis requirements; provides training in proper evidence and packaging procedures.
• Evaluates suitability of latent fingerprints for automated system.
• Reviews and files photographic evidence.
• Responds to outside agency requests for evidence, status and chain of custody.
• Prepares a variety of property and evidence reports.
• Assists in other police service support work.
• Establishes and maintains inventory systems.
• Performs related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE OF/ABILITY TO: 

• Property and evidence storage, filing, retrieval and recordkeeping systems.

The County of San Mateo's Information Services Department seeks an IS Systems Specialist III to serve in the Security Division. Under general supervision, the individual in this position performs the most complex and varied technical tasks related to the configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and monitoring of the County's security infrastructure. THE TRAINEE POSITION:

The Position

The Human Resources Benefits & Payroll Manager is one of three division level manager positions reporting to the Human Resources Director.  The position is a working manager and has overall responsibility for planning, managing and evaluating the benefits and payroll activities, programs and staff (Human Resources Analysts and Technicians) within the division.  Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The Human Services Agency (HSA) of the County of San Mateo is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Homeless Encampment Strategies Manager to manage the County’s $14 Million Encampment Resolution Funding (ERF) Grant to serve unhoused residents currently living in encampments, with a focus on interim and permanent housing solutions using a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach to services.

The Homeless Encampment Strategies Manager will oversee grant implementation and coordinate county programs and community-based contracted partners in their work to achieve the ERF grant performance goals. In addition, the Homeless Encampment Strategies Manager will build the structure of the service delivery system, coordinate, track and report grant progress, and build relationships with county departments, community partners, city leaders, and State representatives to provide a robust overall implementation and reporting structure to achieve grant goals.

This position will be responsible for reporting to high level executive County leadership and to the State on project goals and milestones, and responsible for establishing frequent communication channels for all levels of the project.

The current opportunity is in the HSA Collaborative Community Outcomes (CCO) Branch, Center on Homelessness. The Homeless Encampment Strategies Manager will be the County’s liaison with the State Department of Housing and Community Development and will monitor program activities administered on behalf of San Mateo County and report outcomes to agency, state, and community wide stakeholders.

The County of San Mateo Parks Department is seeking an experienced Park Ranger II to provide a variety of public services to preserve, protect, and enhance the natural, historical, recreational and educational resources of the County. Under supervision, Park Ranger II are responsible for maintaining trails and picnic areas, camping and boating facilities; performing facility maintenance; assisting the public in taking full advantage of the facilities and grounds; and assisting with interpretive and recreational programs. • At least two years of experience in park management, forestry, natural resource conservation, law enforcement, construction, emergency response or a closely related field.

What You’ll Do

The Assistant Planner/Associate Planner performs professional level work in the field of current planning and/or advance planning to promote the City’s Mission and Values. The current vacancy may be filled at either level based on experience.

Assistant Planner - is the entry level class in the professional planning series and is distinguished from the Associate Planner by the performance of less complex tasks and duties in the fields of current or advance planning, which require the application of fundamental planning principles. Assignments are generally limited in scope and within the design and procedural framework established by higher level employees. However, as experience is acquired, the employee performs with increasing independence. Since this class is typically used as a continued training class, employees may have only limited work experience.

Associate Planner - is the journey level class in the professional planning series and employees within this class are distinguished from the Assistant Planner by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, which require the application of professional knowledge and skills to various municipal planning, zoning, and environmental problems and the preparation of specific reports and plans. The position provides opportunity for independent judgment in planning work details and making technical determinations. Work in this class is distinguished from that of Assistant Planner by the greater complexity of assignments including preparing zoning code and general plan amendment studies, and by the greater independence with which the incumbent is expected to operate. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the lower class of Assistant Planner or, when filled from the outside, require prior professional planning work experience.

The Assistant Planner receives general supervision from a Senior Planner or higher level department personnel. The Associate Planner receives direction from a Senior Planner or higher level department personnel and may exercise technical and functional supervision over lower level staff as assigned.
