Summary
Under general supervision, assists in organizing, leading and conducting recreational programs and provides highly responsible and technical professional staff assistance in developing and conducting specialized recreational programs; and performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plans, schedules, assigns, supervises and participates in a recreation unit of the District typically consisting of part-time employees; organizes and conducts programs in program areas such as fine and performing arts, sports, outdoor activities, therapeutics and inclusion; interprets and communicates District policies to staff and ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and District safety regulations; interviews and participates in selecting new staff; establishes performance requirements; regularly monitors, evaluates and addresses performance.
• Contributes to the development of and monitors performance against the program budget; approves purchases and other expenditures in accordance with District policies and procedures.
• Identi­fies, contacts, selects and prepares documents for contract instructors; provides first-level approval and processes contract invoices.
• Prepares written public correspondence, speaks to school and community groups and promotes participation in scheduled activities through marketing plans and outreach efforts.
• Instructs participants in various athletic and recreational activities.
• Coordinates and participates in equipment and vendor selection, physical setup for special activities and the issuing and collecting of materials.
• Assists supervisor with the research, development, enhancement and implementation of new and existing services and programming; assists in monitoring program effective­ness.
• Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports on participation, equipment and facility use.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• May be required to drive a District or personal vehicle.
• May coordinate activities and meetings of the Community Advisory Council.
• Exempt employees may be required to work nights and weekends.  
• Participates during disasters or when emergency response is needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfac­torily. Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skill and/or ability listed below is qualifying.

Education/Experience: A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: a bachelor’s degree with emphasis in recreation or a closely related field; and two years of group recreational activity leadership experience including supervisory, public relations or marketing skills; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

As assigned to Therapeutic Recreation Unit, preferred degree in Therapeutic Recreation and/or two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabili­ties, prefer­ably with ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis); and the ability to learn/imple­ment applicable laws and inclusion methods and practices. Knowledge of principles and techniques pertaining to the specialized program activities and program marketing and evaluation methods; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents in area of expertise, technical proce­dures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence and proce­dure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form. Ability to present information and respond to questions. Ability to speak Spanish is desirable.

Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages and costs. Ability to determine cost of contractors and provide budget input.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written or oral form. Ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgment.

Certificates and Licenses: 

• First Aid & CPR/AED within 90 days of employment with ability to maintain certifications thereafter as a condition of employment.
• Valid California driver’s license with a good driving record and current automobile insurance.
• Therapeutics program requires a California Commercial Class C Driver License within six months of employment.
• Aquatics program requires a Certified Pool Operator’s certification or Aquatic Facility Operator’s certification within six months of employment as well as Life­guard training, American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer and American Red Cross Water Safety instructor certificates.
• All full-time candidates require satisfactory completion of a pre-employment functional capacity examination.
• Department of Justice fingerprint clearance.
• Proof of negative TB skin test.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Typically supervises part-time employees in the recreation department, including performance evaluations. The number of part-time employees supervised varies depending on unit assignment.

Human Resources Technician I

The Human Resources Technician I is the entry level class in the Human Resources office support series responsible for performing assignments within an established procedural framework where there are minimal consequences of error. This classification is distinguished from the next higher classification of Human Resources Technician II by the performance of more routine, repetitive and less complex assignments.

Human Resources Technician II

The Human Resources Technician II is the full working level position in the Human Resources office support series in which incumbents are expected to independently perform the full scope of assigned duties. Incumbents perform a full range of office and administrative support duties including, as applicable, lead responsibilities over Human Resource Technician I, organization and coordination of workload, maintenance of a calendar and scheduling appointments, preparation of reports, agenda materials, resolutions and ordinances. This classification is distinguished from the next lower classification of Human Resource Technician I by the greater complexity of assignments and higher degree of independent action.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

Human Resources Technician I

Receives general supervision from professional and/or management staff. May exercise functional and technical supervision over Human Resources Technician I.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include but are not limited to the following:

• Performs the duties assigned to classes in the Human Resources Technician series including organizing and coordinating work; sets priorities and meets deadlines; performs a variety of office administrative tasks such as purchasing requisitions, ordering materials and supplies, monitoring supply budgets, and keeping current reference materials and files.

• Types drafts and a wide variety of finished documents from recording devices, notes, brief written or oral instructions; compiles and maintains records and prepares reports; prepares agenda materials, draft reports, resolutions and ordinances; candidate and applicant information, inputs, retrieves and references various computer data management systems such as financial and/or budget systems, HR payroll systems, SIRE System; attends meetings and records and transcribes minutes.

• Provides follow-up and research information on inquiries and problems which require knowledge of services and programs of the City; resolves problems and responds to special assignments which require interdepartmental or staff communications; responds to questions and concerns from the general public; provides information as is appropriate and resolves complaints.

• Maintains office equipment and facilities; operates and performs routine preventative maintenance on office machines including data/word processors, copiers etc.

• Receives incoming telephone calls; secures and records information and follows up with any needed tasks.

• Demonstrates understanding of applicable policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties.

• Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies, City management and staff, and the public.

Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. • Supports the Human Resources Director with conducting formal and informal inquiries into discrimination, harassment and equal opportunity related complaints.
• Coordinates leave management programs; advises employees on their rights under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA), State Disability Insurance (SDI), Paid Family Care Leave (PFL), long-term disability and disability retirement; receives and processes requests for FMLA, CFRA and other leaves; determines eligibility and sends initial notices; requests additional information and prepares other leave-related correspondence; recommends approval or denial of leaves.
• Supports the Human Resources Director with monitoring compliance of the Department’s various programs with applicable laws, guidelines and regulations; tracks and analyzes proposed legislation to determine impact on human resources operations and programs; researches, develops and proposes updates to, and/or establishment of new, City policies, administrative regulations and personnel rules.
• Establishes highly effective working relationships with clients, employees and union representatives, representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies and associations, City management and staff and the public.

The City of East Palo Alto is seeking an enthusiastic self-driven Management Analyst I/II. The incumbent will provide responsible analytical duties and complex staff support to the Public Works Department for the City. In addition to, overseeing, and participating in assigned administrative service areas, programs, and/or functions as assigned. The successful candidate may provide training to assigned staff in areas of expertise. The Management Analyst I/II participates in policy development and strategic planning; develops, summarizes, and maintains administrative and fiscal records coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies, and the general public; and performs related duties, as assigned. The department may hire at either the I or the II level depending on the skills, certifications, and qualifications held by the pool of qualified applicants.

The City of Sebastopol is seeking an outgoing, empathetic, responsible, problem-solver to serve as a Police Communications Dispatcher. The Police Communications Dispatcher receives and processes routine and emergency calls. The incumbent will dispatch police and enter, retrieve, and use data from various automated law enforcement information systems. The successful candidate will coordinate with and transfer calls to other emergency service providers as appropriate. The individual will perform a variety of clerical and technical duties in support of the Department’s operations. In addition, they will learn applicable policies, procedures, and work methods associated with assigned duties; and perform other related duties as required.

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an employment list for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher within the Sheriff’s Department.  The incumbent receives 9-1-1 system sheriff, fire, medical emergency and rescue calls; dispatches sheriff, fire and medical personnel following established procedures; maintains communication with officers in the field to ensure safety and provide back-up and information; provides relief coverage for the records unit; and performs related work as assigned. These classifications require shift work and the ability to make decisions and act appropriately in stressful situations. The work also involves interdepartmental cooperation with various public safety agencies located throughout the County to coordinate the most effective response to requests for assistance from the public.
