Overview:
Valley Water is seeking a skilled industrial electrician I/II with a passion for troubleshooting distribution and water treatment systems. This position will perform a variety of entry-level and/or journey-level skilled electrical work including in the maintenance, installation, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment and systems typically found in high-volume water distribution and water treatment systems. This position will be based out of any one of Valley Water’s water treatment plants with work responsibilities residing throughout the valley. A company vehicle and tools will be provided to allow transportation between sites. This position requires 24-hour on-call responsibilities in rotating one-week durations after proper training has been established (typically, at one year).
 
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Perform maintenance, repair, inspection, testing, and installation of electrical and related equipment in large pumping plants and raw water distribution systems/water treatment plants and treated water distribution systems, and power generation facilities.
• Test low and high voltage electrical equipment including circuits, transformers, small and large motors, high voltage switches, and electrical components of process control, telemetering, cathodic protection systems, and electronic equipment boards.  Diagnose problems and determine needed repairs or modifications; install conduit and pull wires for motors, control panels, and lighting fixtures.
• Interpret diagrams and schematics; perform work according to drawings; create as-built drawings of electrical installations. Inspect, maintain, repair, install, and test varied equipment including circuits, transformers, switches, motors, pumps, controls, power generating equipment, and electrical components of telemetering and cathodic protection systems; troubleshoot problems; determine needed repairs.
• Make rough estimates of materials and equipment required for jobs assigned; order required equipment, materials, and supplies.   Maintain accurate accounts of time, labor, materials, and equipment for work performed; complete daily logs; prepare oral and written reports as necessary.
• Determine precautions and follow safe and effective work procedures, check job sites for potential hazards. Operate a variety of hand and power tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.

• 4+ years of military electrical training is acceptable.

 

Certificates in any one or more of these are desirable:

• Industrial Electrician I – California State Electrical Certification, CWEA Grade I, Certificate of completion in any related electrical coursework or experience.

General

The Manager, Transit Oriented Development works under the general direction of the Director of Real Estate & Property Development, and the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of Real Estate & Development, and is responsible for implementing all real estate activities necessary to support Transit Oriented Development (TOD) projects of the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans), the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain), and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA).

Essential Functions & Duties

• Supervise Property Management staff who manage the Agency’s lease portfolio. Hire, mentor, and take appropriate corrective and/or disciplinary action. Participate in selection, coordinate staff training, establish performance objectives, and perform performance appraisals.
• Manage TOD programs on SamTrans and TA-owned real estate. Provide support to develop, plan, negotiate, and implement the TOD and Joint Development Project programs.
• Oversee development business plans and financial forecasts of potential and proposed real estate projects.
• Serve as subject matter expert on federal, state, and regional statutes, proposed legislation, and regulations pertaining to TOD.
• Monitor and advocate for SamTrans’ interests, with the help of government affairs, in legislation relating to development, density, etc, for promotion of TOD and joint development.
• Serve as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders on all TOD matters.

• Oversee the daily functions, operations, and real estate activities in support of the TOD and Joint Development Program.
• Manage all aspects of the TOD projects from beginning to completion including policy development and maintenance, project planning, stakeholder meetings, budget, schedule, entitlement process, RFP/RFQ, developer selection process, Board Presentations, etc. 
• Lead negotiations for long term land leases and other disposition agreements for TOD and joint development projects.
• Develop and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support development opportunities; resolve issues; and to develop consensus on project and schedule.
• Work closely with community members, neighborhood councils, businesses, property owners, neighborhood groups, and various public/private organizations to address concerns.
• General property research
• Collaboration with internal divisions to further TOD goals and objectives employees and the public from injury or harm. Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to: 

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Five years of full time progressively responsible real estate development and TOD planning experience.
• Two years of experience in a supervisory role.

• Effective oral, written, and presentation skills.
• Experience with project management is desired.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Supervision: Works under works under the general direction of the Director of Real Estate & Property Development, and the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of Real Estate & Development, who establishes goals and objectives, and evaluates performance.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently seeking Extra-Help and Full-Time Animal Care Technicians, in an effort to fill current vacancies and establish an eligibility list.  Under general supervision, Animal Care Technicians assist in the daily maintenance, feeding and care of animals housed in the county’s animal care facility including those subject to quarantine, injured or ill; assist with euthanizations; provide information to the public regarding lost or stray animals; assist with licensing, pet adoptions and community volunteer programs; and perform related work as assigned.  This class is a working level class in the animal care series.

What You’ll Do

The Code Enforcement Officer I/II performs investigative abatement work and enforcement work for State and City codes, ordinances, and approval conditions related to use, maintenance and safety of land and structures. The position receives supervision from the Code Enforcement Manager or Senior Code Enforcement Officer or higher-level department personnel.  The Code Enforcement Officer II may exercise technical and functional supervision over lower level staff.

The current vacancy may be filled at either level based on experience. Depending upon class level and assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Receives complaints of violations of city codes and ordinances for residential, commercial and industrial property.
• Reviews case files, zoning, general plan and tract maps and other documentation relating to property involved in complaint.

The Position
Under general or direct supervision, performs a wide variety of law enforcement duties involving crime prevention and investigation, protection of life and property, and enforcement of laws, codes, and ordinances; performs investigation duties, assists in the preparation of cases and testifies in court; cooperates with other law enforcement agencies and City departments; may provide lead direction for subordinate departmental employees and volunteers; provides information and assistance to the public; and performs related duties as assigned.

Community Oriented Policing
The Foster City Police Department is centered on the philosophy of Community Oriented Policing. There is an expectation that all employees will provide excellent service to the public, every call, every contact, every day. As with all employees, the Police Corporal is expected to make non-enforcement contacts with the public in an effort to more clearly identify the needs of the community, and to assist the public in solving community problems. 

Class Characteristics
This is a lead-level class in the sworn officer series responsible for performing a wide variety of law enforcement tasks in support of a municipal police department. Incumbents perform the full range of duties as assigned, working independently, and exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from Police Sergeant in that the latter exercises technical and functional direction over and provides training to lower-level staff on an assigned shift.

Education and Experience
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade; successful completion of 30 semester units of college course work at an accredited institution.  An Associate's degree or higher is desirable. The minimum education requirements may be met by the possession of an Intermediate Post Certificate.

Experience: Possession of a POST Basic Certificate at the time of application. 

Licenses and Certifications:

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, and a good driving record, to be maintained
  throughout employment.
• Possession of a valid Basic Certificate issued by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). 
• Possession and maintenance of firearms qualification.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications and supplemental questionnaires received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of four Oral Panel Interview (Technical - weighted 30%; Tactical - weighted 30%; Community - weighted 30%; and Presentation - weighted 10%). An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 80% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner. 

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The Police department will make the hiring decision.
