San Mateo Medical Center is seeking an experienced Surgery Scheduling Specialist for a Full-Time, Extra-help position for the Surgery Department. The Surgery Scheduling Specialist provides technical, complex and specialized administrative support to surgeons and patients scheduled for surgery, which includes interaction with operating room staff and patients; handles multiple competing priorities; interacts with diverse customer groups; handles multiple patient-related tasks such as tracking patient financials to ensure information is correctly entered; and moves patients from the clinic to the operating room, including all pre-operative processes necessary for the patients prior to surgery, pre-op process sheets and clinic schedules, data entry of items into the operative database, financial reconciliation, and post-op order sets, and may have some responsibilities for ordering supplies or equipment.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex medical terminology to a variety of people with varying levels of medical knowledge. In addition, they would possess skills in conflict resolution, and problem solving. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work with challenging patients, and patients who may have a language or communication barrier. This position will require attention to detail, and therefore the ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
 
NOTE: The ability to speak, read and write in fluent English and Spanish is preferred for this position.
 
 Duties for this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Tracking patient financials to be sure they are correctly entered.
• Scheduling patients in the procedure clinic.  
• Updating the pre-op process sheet and clinic schedule in the computer.
• Entering data into the operative database.
• Interfacing between the Operating Room and Surgeon.
• Ability to schedule patients using the OR manager program.

Minimum Qualifications

• Five years office contract and administration duties with an engineering or construction related company; experience in verifying invoices in varied forms; working experience in technical and legal document editing

• Five years of recent administrative experience requiring the use of initiative and independent judgment

• Demonstrated proficiency in using advanced word processing and basic spreadsheet functions

Hours: Casual non-benefited employees are limited to working no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and no more than 900 hours in a fiscal year (July 1-June 30). Varying shifts are available including Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Under general supervision, individuals assigned to this classification assist the organization to develop and design reports, websites, social media collateral and other marketing and presentation materials. This classification focuses on the development of written and graphic representation for division or department materials. Individuals in this classification are primarily focused on enhancing the Division’s social media presence, developing all written material, performing administrative tasks, attending fairs and events to promote Recreation Services programs; and perform/ related work as required.

This position is characterized by developing new and innovative marketing collateral with limited structure or routine work. Work assignments are performed in collaboration with various divisions and levels of staff, independently, with responsibility for following through on development. The position requires creative ability, knowledge of how to generate graphics using The Adobe Suite, Canva, Microsoft Publisher, Word and Excel and the ability to exercise a reasonable degree of independent judgment. This classification assists with development and implementation of standards for consistency in materials, written and posted on the internet. WORKING CONDITIONS
Position is required to work on the Community Center campus and may not work from home. Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination when using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision when reading and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The need to lift, push and pull files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is completion of 60 college semester units. Previous volunteer or paid experience in a law enforcement support area is desirable.

In this role, you will perform skilled inspection work with City residential housing inspection programs. The Department

The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships; engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem- solving; and leveraging financial and volunteer resources.  The Aging and Family Services Division (AFS) of HSD specifically supports older residents and their caregivers to live active, healthy lives in the Tri-City community.

The Position

As a member of the HSD assigned to the AFS, the Senior Program Coordinator will organize, coordinate, and implement community wellness programs for older adults. The Community Programs include health promotion activities such as health screenings, wellness classes, and educational activities. The position works within a team that includes volunteers, health promoters, nurses, social workers and mental health workers. The position facilitates community awareness and partnerships, with individuals and agencies, to promote an age-friendly environment.

PAL (Police Activities League) Program Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position: PAL Program Attendants work with Suisun City’s PAL Program and with area teenagers ages 13-19 to implement educational and recreational activities: tutoring, sports, games, mini-excursions, competitions, contests, seminars, and special events, and provide general support to the program’s Recreation Supervisor. The City of San Mateo Public Works Department is seeking an Assistant/Associate Engineer for the Capital Improvement Plan Division. Candidates should be highly motivated, experienced, seek professional growth, and desire to lead and support in the delivery and review of various City projects.

As an Assistant/Associate Engineer, you would support our department’s mission to operate, maintain and improve the City’s infrastructure. Public Works is responsible for the maintenance, repair, cleaning, and construction of sewer and storm conveyance systems, wastewater treatment plant, streets, streetlights, traffic signals, active transportation infrastructure, publicly owned parking lots and garages, pump stations, a major lagoon, and dams and levees. Our department also reviews plans and inspects the construction of public improvements to serve new private residential, commercial, and industrial developments, and administers contracts for the collection, disposal, and recycling of solid waste. Public Works is also responsible for the City’s review and management of right-of-way impacts associated with private development and traffic operations.

What You’ll Do:

The Assistant/Associate Engineer will help support efforts to accomplish short and long-term project deliveries, while sustaining the City’s mission, vision, and goals. The position is considered for the following field of interest:

• The Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) Division’s key assignments include planning, designing, reviewing, and preparing detailed engineering plans, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, contracts, and related documents for a variety of capital improvement projects. Roles include project manager and construction manager, with duties that include leading coordination meetings, interfacing with construction contractors, outside engineering firms, construction inspectors, and other public agencies.

San Mateo Medical Center is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Occupational Therapist II.  
Currently, there is one full-time, limited-term vacancy and two Extra-Help, part-time, vacancies. These positions will plan and provide occupational therapy services for acutely ill or rehabilitative patients in an outpatient and/or inpatient setting.
Occupational Therapist II is the experienced journey level class in this series. Incumbents in this class perform the full range of general therapy treatments with a greater degree of independence and proficiency, additionally applying more specialized and advanced therapy treatments. Some individuals may also assist in providing technical advice and training to less experienced staff.
The ideal candidate has graduated from an accredited occupational therapy curriculum and is licensed as an Occupational Therapist by the California Board of Occupational Therapy and registered with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. They will also possess a Certificate of completion for a course in Basic Life Support as approved by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Additionally, the incumbent will have experience in working with adults, skilled nursing, and acute care.  Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required. Ability to work weekends and/or holiday coverage when necessary is strongly preferred.

• Under medical direction, plan and perform occupational therapy for a variety of patients.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive treatment to patients.
• Provide therapeutic activities to promote independence in daily living activities.
• Plan, organize and participate in occupational therapy activities.
• Design and fabricate splints.
• Instruct patients in the use of therapeutic tools and equipment.
• Provide ongoing assessment and documentation of the patient's response to treatment in accordance with hospital standards.
• Participate in discharge planning and refer parents to community services.
• Determine need for department and patient-related supplies and equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas.
• May participate as clinical preceptor in a university affiliated occupational therapy student program.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification:

• Eligibility for or registration as an Occupational Therapist by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. Failure to obtain this licensure within twelve months of employment may result in termination.
• Possession of a Certificate of completion for a course in Basic Life Support as approved by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association; or must be obtained within six months of appointment.

Occupational Therapist II: One year of supervised experience in occupational therapy.

Knowledge of:

• Principles and methods of occupational therapy, as applicable to all types of cases found in a general hospital providing acute care or in a rehabilitative center.
• Physical and psychological problems of physically disabled, aged, gero-psychiatric and chronically ill patients.
• Principles of splint design and fabrication.
• Use and care of therapeutic tools and equipment commonly used in occupational therapy.
• Professional ethics and the fundamental laws of practice for occupational therapy.

• Administer and document occupational therapy treatments.
• Assess patient needs, analyze situations accurately and implement an effective plan of action.
• Adapt equipment to patient needs.
• Integrate occupational therapy services with other medical and institutional programs.
• Develop new programs in response to patient/department need.
• Explain and teach occupational therapy activities to patients, health care professionals and other interested persons.
• Exercise tact and good judgment in dealing with patients, staff and the public.
• Prepare reports and keep records of case histories.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Act as a consultant/trainer for education and other staff.
• Provide suitable transportation between work sites.
• Lift or assist with lifting patients and equipment.
