The Department: 

Silicon Valley Power (SVP) currently provides over 700 Megawatts of power to residential and business customers within Santa Clara, of which 40 percent of comes from carbon-free renewable resources. The Position: 

The Generation Technician performs the hands-on duties required to safely and efficiently operate and maintain the SVP Generation resources.  Under direction from the on-shift Sr. Generation Technician, the Generation Technician performs all manner of mechanical, electrical, and operational activities required for the City’s power generation facilities including:

 

• Controlling City power plants and monitoring remote hydroelectric facilities
• Responding to emergency situations and abnormal operations
• Repairing mechanical pumps, valves, compressors, boilers, HRSG auxiliaries, reduction gears, hydraulic systems, liquid and gas fuel systems, lube oil systems
• Repairing electrical systems, breakers, relays, meters, wiring, and motors
• Organizing and supervising contractors and employees in conducting scheduled and emergency shutdown work

 

Incumbents ensure that for all of the City of Santa Clara’s electric generation power plants that all of the systems and sub-systems are operated and maintained in an efficient, effective, and a safe manner. The Position consistently complies with all established safety and health policies and procedures, and helps to identify and eliminate or actively manage risks in all work activities.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

One of the following education requirements:

• Education equivalent to graduation from high school and
• Four (4) years of electric generation operation and maintenance experience in a medium sized electric generation power plant or the equivalent is required, two (2) years of which must have been at above the entry-level
• Two (2) additional years of electric generation operation and maintenance experience with an electric generation power plant or the equivalent is highly desirable. 
• Three (3) years of operations and maintenance level experience above the entry level with work assignments in the City of Santa Clara combined cycle generation facilities may substitute for the above experience requirements.

License/Certifications:

Possession of a valid California driver's license is required.
 Possession of the following certificates are required within one year of appointment for the duration of the appointment:

• Department of Transportation (DOT) Qualified Operator for Natural Gas Pipeline;
• Department of Transportation (DOT) Qualified Operator for Natural Gas Compressor Station;
• Department of Transportation (DOT) Drug Testing Program for Natural Gas Pipeline and Compression Station Operator;
• Qualified to wear a respirator;
• Qualified electrical worker, who is qualified to do switching, required within two years of appointment and for the duration of the appointment; and
• Incumbents shall be required to obtain and maintain any other licenses(s) and or certification(s) that may be required by future regulation by Federal, State and/or industry requirements.

Physical Requirements:

• Incumbents may be assigned to work on a rotating shift schedule.  Incumbents must have the ability to work, as assigned, to schedules that may include Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and non-traditional work hours; and a willingness to work overtime as required.
• Employees are required to pass initial and periodic comprehensive background checks, which may include fingerprinting, to meet Federal, State and/or industry security requirements. Incumbents hired before 6/16/04 are grandfathered from the initial background requirement.
• Must be able to perform all the essential functions of the job assignment.
• Must be able to identify color and materials normally used in the electric trade.
• Must be able to lift twenty (20) pounds in awkward positions and fifty (50) pounds from the floor to the waist.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, lift, reach, walk up and down stairs, and climb ladders at elevations of eighty (80) feet or more as necessary to perform assigned duties.
• Must be able to wear respirator and any other appropriate safety equipment.

The City of Dixon Recreation Department is accepting applications for one (1) position of Pool Manager for the 2025 Aquatics Season.

The Aquatics Supervisor organizes, leads, supervises and performs all aquatic activities as related to the management and operation of the City of Dixon swimming pool. Performs regular lifeguard duties, organizes and instructs swim classes. Performs related and other work as required.

This is a temporary/seasonal position working the Aquatic Season as early May 2025 through November 2025. Staff can average between 20-40 hours per week based on the season, needs of the program, and staff availability. Staff may be expected to work weekends and on fixed holidays. Those who work on a City Holiday will earn 1 ½ times their base hourly salary.

This position is subject to random controlled substance testing and/or breath alcohol testing.

The incumbent works with the public and City staff wearing multiple hats, while approaching each task with tact, discretion, and professionalism. Under general direction, plans, develops, and implements comprehensive public relations and communication programs for the City; manages media relations activities; oversees Citywide strategy and crisis communication; serves as liaison to the Library and Public Arts and KSAR (public television) committees; maintains social media platforms and analytics, the City’s website, and visual communication initiatives; prepares news releases, fact sheets, stakeholder and community correspondence, articles, and newsletters; provides complex support to the City Manager and Assistant City Manager; and provides professional-level resources for organizational, managerial, and operational effectiveness. 

City offices operate on a 9/80 schedule. This position is located at City Hall, 13777 Fruitvale Avenue; operational hours are 7:30 am-5:00 pm. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION 

Strategic & Crisis Communication: Proactively provides strategic internal and external communication about City actions, events, programs, and projects. Continually evaluates the City’s communication efforts and adapts to new approaches and technologies. Maintains and updates the City’s Crisis Communication plan. Selected candidate will complete Everbridge and FEMA-required training to be certified to send out AlertSCC messages on behalf of the City. 

Community Engagement & Events: Serves as the staff liaison for KSAR, the local community access television station. Manages and staffs the annual “Safety Fair.” Supports Assistant City Manager on citywide events. Has a customer service mindset and responds to resident correspondence with the City as needed. Manages City’s social media accounts and provides analytics and insights on best practices. 

Project Management: Manages and maintains the City’s website. Completes key projects in support of City Council and City Manager Department priorities, which includes developing staff reports and presenting to City Council. May act as project lead, developing plans initiatives and execute the development of programs or initiatives, and recommending communication strategies.

Community Development Department

The Housing & Community Services Division works to expand and preserve affordable housing through programs such as multi-family developments, inclusionary housing, and Below Market Purchase assistance. The division manages housing assets, provides development loans, enforces the Affordable Housing Ordinance, ensures compliance, and connects residents to affordable housing resources. It also administers federal and state grants to support capital improvements, fund public services for low-income residents, and address homelessness.

City Manager’s Office

The City Manager's Office is responsible for providing strategic direction and support to all City departments for day-today operations and planning, as well as support to the City Council with its policy making. In this capacity, the City Manager's Office resolves complex administrative matters, performs City-wide policy analysis, directs city-wide emergency preparedness efforts; drives strategic planning and organizational development; oversees employee relations; directs the preparation of the budget in conformance with the Council's approved priorities and Budget Principles; and advises the Council of the City’s financial outlook. In addition, the City Manager's Office has direct responsibility for economic development, community outreach and engagement, property and contract management, special projects, and legislative research and advocacy.

The Position:

Community Development Department

The Staff Aide I position in the Housing & Community Services Division provides office administrative and program support, serving as a point of contact for public inquiries and connecting residents to affordable housing resources. Key duties include reviewing, formatting and submitting staff reports to the Clerk’s office, posting City Council meeting follow ups, processing Public Records Act requests, acting as a liaison to the City Clerk’s Office, managing contracts and document retention, timekeeping, and supporting purchasing, accounts payable, billing, and cashiering deposits. The role also assists with researching, planning community outreach events, tracking performance measures, updating division webpages and social media, and helping to onboard new staff. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential. Bilingual Spanish proficiency is preferred but not required, and experience with Microsoft Excel and Word is also preferred.

City Manager’s Office

The Staff Aide I position in the City Manager’s Office (CMO) will provide paraprofessional administrative support using advanced clerical skills and frequent use of judgment and interpretive ability related to research, data collection, analysis, report writing, and follow-up on items such as citizen concerns. In addition, the Staff Aide I provides administrative assistance to members of the CMO executive team in calendar management, meeting support, and other related tasks, as well as assist with coordination of Public Records Act requests and records management.

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an employment list for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher within the Sheriff’s Department.  The incumbent receives 9-1-1 system sheriff, fire, medical emergency and rescue calls; dispatches sheriff, fire and medical personnel following established procedures; maintains communication with officers in the field to ensure safety and provide back-up and information; provides relief coverage for the records unit; and performs related work as assigned. These classifications require shift work and the ability to make decisions and act appropriately in stressful situations. The work also involves interdepartmental cooperation with various public safety agencies located throughout the County to coordinate the most effective response to requests for assistance from the public.

Position Summary

Under general direction of the Secretary of the District, performs complex and highly analytical work for the Secretary of the District, members of the Board of Directors and associated committees.   Departmental lead on government tort claims, legal documents and communications and participating in complex, sensitive, and detailed analytical work in the areas of budgets, historical preservation and economic, regulatory and administrative policy. Provides internal customer service by assisting managers and executive level staff in complex analysis.  This position requires a high degree of accuracy, discretion, confidentiality, excellent communication skills, and robust customer service skills. 
 

Essential Responsibilities

• Serves as the primary analytical support to the District Secretary;
• Interprets meeting proceedings and prepares draft meeting minutes, with minimal oversight and as assigned, may attend meetings in the absence of the District Secretary;
• Performs legal functions of the office and guidance to office staff in the absence of the District Secretary;
• Performs a wide variety of complex legal analysis, research and briefings about claims for the District, Bridge, Bus and Ferry Divisions, and works with legal counsel in the areas such as government tort claims, subpoenas, Brady requests, small claims and lawsuits;
• Provides a wide variety of complex, confidential analytical duties in support of the District Secretary, Board of Directors, and standing Board committees;
• Independently composes, researches, compiles, summarizes, and prepares a variety of complex correspondence, reports and documents; reviews finished materials for completeness and accuracy; ensures documents comply with District standards, policies and procedures;
• Perform special studies for the District, and coordinates assigned activities with other District departments, and divisions, and outside entities;
• Independently responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints;
• Coordinates and assists in the development of the annual budgets of the Board and District Secretary’s Office and monitors, reviews and approves department expenditures, and performs financial analysis for budgetary purposes;
• Assists the District Secretary with providing direct support in varied, analytical administrative projects related to the Board and its committees;
• Independently prepares and presents a variety of oral and written reports, correspondence, and statistical analyses with extreme attention to detail and accuracy;
• Works with Procurement to select vendors and purchase department services as needed for projects, and participates on panels for various District procurements especially those related to the District’s third party administrators for public liability and workers compensation, insurance advisors and e-document conversion;
• Has an in-depth understanding of the department’s functions and especially its role with the Board of Directors such as the steps involved in planning and executing Board events and maintaining key Board documents such as Rules of the Board, Master Ordinance and record of the Board’s proceedings;
• Autonomously draft client correspondence and legal documents, using proper format and appropriate language and content;
• Oversees newspaper advertisements for public hearings/meetings;
• Monitors activities and ensures maintenance of files related to insurance and accident claim matters to fulfill department records retention schedule;
• Engages with a wide variety of District representatives including the Board of Directors, Executive Team, mid-managers and staff in a wide variety of roles including those engaged in specialized trades;
• Performs additional related duties as assigned; and
• Regular and reliable performance and attendance is required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Facility Repair Worker II:

• Equivalent to graduation from high school.
• Three years of responsible experience in building repair and maintenance with at least one year of experience in one of the trades.

Facility Repair Worker III:

• Equivalent to graduation from high school.
• Five years of responsible experience in building repair and maintenance equivalent to the Facility Repair Worker II classification at the City of San Rafael.
• Knowledge of building codes and necessary permits related to building maintenance tasks.
• Possess strong computer skills with programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Office.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.

Position Duties  

The Department of Public Works is recruiting to fill two (2) Building Inspector-Electrical Specialty, Combination Certified I/II/III/Senior positions within the Engineering Services Division, Code Inspection Section.   

Salary range(s) for this classification is/are:   

Building Inspector Combination: $110,881.68 - $134,862.00 

Building Inspector Combination Certified I: $114,157.68 - $138,705.84 

Building Inspector Combination Certified II: $117,215.28 - $142,877.28 

Building Inspector Combination Certified III: $121,910.88 - $148,512.00 

Building Inspector Combination Certified Senior: $138,225.36 - $168,473.76 

This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.   

The Building Inspector Combination/Certified I/II/III/Senior position will be located subject to business need. This position will provide inspection support at a variety of City of San José facilities, including the Airport, Regional Wastewater Facility and Central Service Yard.  

Key responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:  

• Conduct inspections of industrial, commercial, manufacturing, and facilities to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, ordinances, standards, and contract agreements which includes: setting up inspection schedules; gathering information and evidence; and, ensuring conformance to plans, specifications, and safety regulations.   

• Investigate building, construction, and land use changes in the field by: gathering factual data to ascertain present use of land and location of structures; conducting background investigations and research; and, preparing reports to use as evidence.   

• Provide technical assistance for development of codes and policies.   

• Generate written reports and enforcement orders which includes noting deficiencies in standards and submitting final documentation.   

• Review plans and specifications for compliance with codes which includes assisting in projects in complying with regulations, prioritizing deficiencies, and preparing timetables.   

• Provide technical support for agencies and the public which includes inputting data into system for general public access.   

• Meet with architects, engineers, City officials, and building contractors to discuss construction projects.   

• Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
